It is a business stay close to Altunizade office area. Not a touristic spot. You dont expect much, but rooms are small. I stayed at room 601, one level below the entrance lobby. The room is under the lobby and next to the elevator. Not a comfortable stay, couple of times I called the reception to warn. Since there is...

Holiday Inn Express Altunizade may not be the easiest-to-reach hotel in Istanbul, but it's certainly worth the effort of getting there. It lies on the Asian side of town in a quiet neighbourhood full of universities and other Western hotels such as the Mercure. Any cab driver will quite easily take you there, or, if feeling a bit more adventurous,...

This hotel was chosen for its location - not for the tourist sights but for the ease of getting to the conference I was attending. The hotel is new, quiet and tucked away. Reception was pleasant, as were staff but with little spoken English (not that it mattered). Free wifi using passport number - I now remember mine off by...

This is a long way from prime tourist areas (especially in Istanbul traffic). But it's convenient for the universities around it, and it has sufficient services around it. Your taxi driver will have a hard time finding it. Rail and bus from the Airport is doable but with a hike at the end. Rooms are very large but sparsely furnished....

Perfectly clean. İdeal for b&b accomodation with basic services. The building was not designed as hotel, the rooms are separated with a door or with a thin wall that you can hear and feel every simple activity of your neighboor. Breakfast is simple and ok.

Even though the hotel is basic in terms of amenities as expected of a business hotel, it was clean and well located. Our room was small. The first room offered was smelling of something not nice and we had to have it changed.

Staying in Uskudar

Neighbourhood Profile
Uskudar
Home to more than half a million residents, Uskudar on the Asian side of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul’s most densely populated neighbourhoods. Once a Greek colony, later a haven for people from across the Mediterranean and the Middle East, this gateway to Asia has been an active and diverse hub for eons. Still, visitors to Uskudar are often more overcome by its myriad treasures than by its many thousand residents. And with fairytale settings such as the “Maiden’s Tower” as well as grand examples of Ottoman Era architecture, plenty of parks, a gorgeous and lengthy coastline, and some of Turkey’s holiest sites, there’s no end to the sightseeing possibilities. Easily reached from the city’s European shores via a steady network of ferries, time spent in Uskudar reveals a “real life” Istanbul that many who experience find extremely fascinating.
