This guesthouse is very closely located from main tourist sites, such as Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Astra bazaar. The rooms are clean and maintained daily by staff memebers. I have stayed in a room with double-sized bed and it has everything you need: A/C, TV, closet, dressing table, and toilet with shower. The most important part of...

This is a small hotel with about 8 rooms. It has been recently renovated everything in the rooms looks new and clean. It's in a good location in the old town near many tourist attractions. Staff (Ozcan, Halil and Sercan) was very friendly and I felt like at home during my stay there (I stayed there for 3 nights). If...

This is the kind of guesthouse where you stay if you are looking for a cheap place to sleep... but not only. The rooms are clean, have a bathroom with toilets and it's quite quiet (except the train which is not far away). But if you stay there do me a favor, take time to talk with the staff, stay...

Just coming back, from Turkey, last part of our trip in Istambul, 4 nights in this simple hotel. First of all, let's precise that Istambul with its16 million of people (+ tourists) IS NOT a quiet city ;-) The hotel is ideally situated for the ones who want to discover Istambul historical part (Sultanahmet). 5 minutes walk to the blue...

We stayed at this guesthouse for four nights in April 2011. Best part about the place was the comfortable rooms, good breakfast and very cost effective for a family of five adults. A disadvantage of this place is that it's not a proper hotel, there is one big refrigerator common for all, and a very small dining area for breakfast...

We stayed for three nights in very comfortable clean rooms, with great views of the Mamara sea. Breakfast was plentiful, staff friendly and helpful, and the guest house is in easy walking distance of all the major tourist sites. All round, very good value, we would recommend City Guest house to anyone looking for a cheaper comfortable alternative to an...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“Triple rooms have bigger bathrooms & better views.”

“As with all buildings around the Mediterranean, much of the interiors is decorated with tiles or marble. And that resonates the sounds, in this case as well in particular the talking in the reception area. On the first floor and in the basement rooms you will hear this clearly. So if you can get a room at the second or third floor, you'll hear less of this, but possibly more of the local train that passes by. The rooms in the back are larger than in the front. Back is not necesseraly quieter than front.”
