The hotel was fine overall, some small points left something to be desired though. The rooms are quite small, and ours, while having an excellent, up close view of a mosque, proved to be a nightmare during the night-early hours of the morning, when the sermon started in the mosque. Also, the cleaning part was more tidying up than cleaning,... More

'We stayed at Tilia Hotel in IStanbul, Turkey for 10 nights. It was one of the worst experiences I have had with a hotel: bad service, careless staff, bell men asking for money, not allowing bringing water to our rooms. We had to ask for everything including soap, pillows, blankets, our phone did not work, ... The only good thing... More

We stayed in the hotel twice within a week's period - before & after our trip to another part of Turkey. LOCATION: The hotel is tucked away in a relatively quiet neighbourhood, away from the crowd and noise of the main street (we slept with the window open and the only "disruption" we had was the call of prayer). It... More

My brother and I got to Istanbul for 4 days 7 March 2011 to 10 March 2011. We slept 3 nights at Tilia Hotel. The staff were friendly and they speak English (not frequent in Istanbul hotels). The room was clean , the beds comfortable , the bathroom large enough , the shower excellent. The breakfast was enough and delicious.... More

I've stayed in this hotel in December 2010 for 5 nights with my wife and 1 year old daughter and I've regretted it bitterly. I booked via Opodo.co.uk. A few points to summaries what I've found on the ground: Service: - Poor quality customer service. No courtesy, grim faces and reception didn't explain a thing on our arrival we have... More

Staying in Grand Bazaar

Neighbourhood Profile
Grand Bazaar
Tourists, hawkers, and locals come together at the Grand Bazaar to comb its labyrinthine passageways in search of a bargain – be it a pair of brand name jeans, a handcrafted silk rug, or a perfectly brewed cup of tea. Outside the vast bazaar, worn, narrow streets wind their way down from its lofty perch to the southern shore of the Golden Horn, where the evocatively aromatic Spice Bazaar beckons alongside the elegant New Mosque (opened in 1665). Nearby, the famed Galata Bridge offers pedestrian access to urban delights across the river in Istanbul’s more residential and contemporary neighbourhoods, while the must-see sights of Sultanahmet are but a leisurely stroll away.
