Chose the hotel based upon the exceptional reviews, and it lived up to expectations and more. Excellent location, comfortable room with excellent facilities for a small family run hotel, generous and varied food for breakfast (especially omelettes made to order) and friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff. Thanks to Kenan in particular for his warmth, humour and guidance on what to...

Wonderful hotel! Stayed there in November 2011. It was a great location (few minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia & the Basilica Cistern. The Sultanahmet tram stop is also within walking distance. The staff were really wonderful and very helpful. They recommended us a great restaurant and even gave a cash discount for the room. We got welcome...

Hotel Seraglio is a nice, modern, quiet, clean and comfortable hotel. We totally had the 'cheap' room on the ground floor (hotels.com) and loved it. Nice breakfast spread with good coffee and great yogurt. Super comfy bed, spacious bathroom - newer and super clean.

We stayed at the Seraglio in August 2011 at the start of our holiday in Turkey. The hotel is small but ideally situated close to the Blue Mosque. You can walk every where in the old town. The staff were great, so helpful with advice. We wished we had more time there

Our family loved the Hotel Seraglio. It is totally small family owned meets luxury. The staff were amazing and so kind to our two kids. We stayed in the triple room (had a travel bed for our littlest) which was wonderful- the beds were so comfortable and we loved the down comforters. The breakfast was awesome. It is probably my...

We stayed at the Seraglio for three nights in mid December. It had been recommended by friends, and we were very pleased with it. The location is very convenient--within 10 minutes' walk to the the three major tourist sites in the old city (Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque). The Grand Bazaar and the Suleiman Mosque are also within...

We've stayed in this hotel from 31 Dec till Jan 05. Everything was really great: location, our room (with hammam), breakfast and VERY helpful hotel team. Location is good, right in the historical center, on a calm street. This is an advantage. But it's also true that most of the locations and restaurants nearby are stricktly touristic (with a few...

We stayed at this hotel during our first few days in Istanbul and liked it so much that we changed our reservations at another hotel at the end of our trip in order to return to the Seraglio. The hotel is located on a relatively quiet street just a couple of blocks from the heart of Istanbul's main sites. This...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
