My husband, 14 year old son and I stopped in Istanbul for three days on route from UK to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt. I booked Hotel Sergalio because at the time it was very cheap and in a great central location for the Sultanahmed part of the city (10 minutes walk to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and just a...

We actually booked the hotel next door but apparently they were overbooked and sent us here instead. The room was amazing! We had a great terrace with a fantasist view of the Blue Mosque and the hotel was walking distance to all the sights. Con: I think I left my favorite sunglasses there and when I emailed them I never...

Small hotel is well located about 5 minutes slow walk to the Blue Mosque and the Arasta Bazaar. Close to restaurants (some well rated on Trip Advisor). Staff could not have been more helpful with maps, directions, and restaurant and sight seeing ideas. Lovely breakfast buffet, very fresh, with an omelette station. Room was small but efficient with modern bathroom...

We stayed in for only one night (booo! we wanted to stay longer!). We got the best room in this boutique hotel right in the heart of Old City Sultanahmet. We booked on Booking.com, after weeks of searching- and we were right to choose this hotel! What's so special about Hotel Seraglio is the location, the service and the VIEW....

Very good location, 2 minutes from the main tourist attraction - Sultanahmet Square. Sweet, Courteous, accommodating staff. Rooms were adequate for a good night sleep. Loved their daily tea and coffee. Complimentary breakfast was pretty good as well.

Perhaps it was because we arrived here after over a month in Africa, or maybe it was because there were so few tourists because of the recent failed coup, but we truly felt welcomed and appreciated. Kenan (sp) welcomed us and provided a cold beer as a welcome drink. After our long metro ride and walk to the hotel in...

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Seraglio hotel. The hotel is conveniently located close to tourist attractions, just walking distance from Sultanahmet square, Blue mosque, Topkapi palace, Arasta bazaar, Hagia Sofia, restaurants, and shops. The hotel staff (especially Yusuf) are absolutely wonderful they would go out of their way to help you out. We wanted to go to the beach...

What a wonderful place to stay. Made to feel so welcome. Enjoyed every minute. And so central. Highly recommended! Breakfast was wonderful, all the sites within an easy walk and staff so friendly. Thank you for a memorable stay. I would recommend staying here to anyone looking for very reasonably priced accommodation in Istanbul.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
