We went to Dara Hotel on the 9th of June and it was 6 of us so we stayed in two rooms. Our genius friend was the one who found the hotel and we all praised him for that. The hotel was absolutely fantastic, the location, the services, the staff, even when there was a misunderstanding in terms of airport...

Dara Hotel is small enough so that the employees can interact personally with guests. The manager actually gave us a ride to a restaurant he recommended the first night we were there. He gave us his cell phone number to call if we had an emergency of some kind. When we go back to Istanbul we will most certainly stay...

What I liked about Dara Hotel: It was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good. The location is excellent, close many sights and a tram stop. The air conditioning works very well. It was small, so I felt comfortable letting my kids go alone from floor to floor to visit relatives in other rooms. What...

Excellent value and location for a budget hotel! We stayed 6 nights in the Dara Hotel at the end of June. The hotel is a few blocks off the Hippodrome in a quiet neighborhood. We felt safe walking to and from the hotel at night – just had to be mindful of the cobblestones and sidewalks. The hotel has been...

This was our first stop on a 20-day trip to Turkiye. We had confirmed it after much searching through the portals of 'tripadvisor' and were we glad we did. The hotel was small and extremely personal. Our room although small and the bathsroom even tinier, everything was spotlessly clean. The window, with lovely red geraniums in window boxes, opened out...

Great hotel - service excellent, breakfast food very good, exceptional value. Location in old town great but only downside is the calling to prayer at 5 a.m. in the morning that can be heard in the hotel. As the call to prayer is from every mosque this issue is probably common in many locations in Istanbul and only lasts ten...

Before commenting on the hotel in detail mI should say that I travelled to Istanbul alone on 12tha April for a 5 day break while my wife went with girl friends to Florida. Due back on 17th April I suddenly found myself wrapped up in the Iceland volcano crisis and was unable to get a flight out of Istanbul until...

First time to Istanbul and our hotel was perfect for what we wanted which was a good value that was safe and near all the attractions. Reasonable walk to the metro stop, quiet but very safe street, excellent breakfast, very responsive staff, I had a broken shower which was fixed immediately and a cable problem also fixed on the spot....

We booked this hotel through hotels.com and only needed one night as we were just back to Istanbul before flying home. The staff was professional and treated us very well even though we just had the least expensive room they have. Room was very good--all updated with a wonderful modern bathroom and new bed and linens. Room was very small...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
