Hostels are usually hit or miss. This one is a hit. So impressed by friendliness of staff-if you go, make sure you go on Gaye's tour of Balat, she is one of the most wonderful and interesting people I have ever met. Made so many friends here, cosy and warm atmosphere. Next time i come back to istanbul will definitely...

This is long overdue, but I do wish to take the opportunity to share the time I had in early April and the great location for exploration and food. You will probably find a better hostel at a higher price, but lack such a central location. Facilities may be slightly cramped but maintained very clean With an early am arrival...

Friendly and helpful staff were always available. Good included breakfast every morning. Adequete showers and toilets which were always clean. Loved the pub crawl, especially the turkish music. Would definitely go back. Cheers for the good time.

So I used the airport transfer offered by the Hostel, although expensive, it's worth it because very few cabbies speak english properly and the location seemed a little out of place. When I got there the staff was great but my room wouldn't be ready for a few hours, so I used the time to visit the Galaa tower which...

I've booked a lovely room with my girlfriend in one of the apartments down the road (so not in the hostel building itself). The room was very nice, with some real authentic details and a view over the Bosporus to dream of. You need to walk some stairs (8, because its on the top level) but once you are here,...

We rented a private room at World House for a couple of nights this month at the end of our 9 - day tour of Turkey. We stayed in Sultanahmet at the beginning of our trip so decided to lodge in Beyoglu for the last few days in Istanbul and we chose World House. World House's location is great -...

My overall experience at this hostel was good. Employees are friendly and helpful. They speak English, which is a huge plus in Turkey. My only remarks would be on the sleep quality (bed not at all comfortable) and water cuts that happened twice during my one-week stay at the hostel.

Thank you to Pinar, Martin, Mustapha and all of the darling staff at World House. When I made my reservation I thought it was a homestay situation and initially when I realized it is a guest house I thought I would move. But the staff and accomodations are just first class. I stayed on for my entire 8 days in...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
