I've traveled all over Europe and the U.S. and this was my favorite city to visit- thanks in large part to my experience at the hostel. We were in a 10 person shared bunk- everything was very clean, including the bathrooms and showers. The front desk staff weren't particularly friendly, but were always helpful when I needed anything. The best...

The title says it all. The location was great, the rooms were clean (double bedroom, bathroom, shower room) and there was free wifi but the staff members (and there were so many!) never said hello or smiled. Even when I was checking out and leaving. So I left feeling crappy at the end. If they made me feel just a...

The Sultan Hostel is located right next to most of the major spots in Sultanehmet. Thus its a great place to crash while exploring older Istanbul. The staff, like most of them at Hi Hostel authenticated hostels , are helpful and give good tips. The dorms are clean but could do with some improvements. The hostel also enables bookings of...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
