Referred to the Saruhan when their sister hotel was full. I was traveling alone and stayed there the first 3 days of my first trip to Turkey. The husband and wife hosts were very friendly, responsive and helpful. Rooms are simple, perfectly clean, airy with large windows and light. Situated in an old residential neighborhood of Istanbul, within a 15-minute...

Clean, clean, clean... comfortable, good breakfast every morning, good service. A little walk from the hippodrome and tourist spots, but not bad - 10-15 minutes. Excellent choice and great value.

The hotel is in a perfect location, close to all the main historic buildings and amenities. The service was superb and the rooms were spacious and very stylish. Extra thanks for the staff for helping me with calling the airport looking for a lost jacket!

The positives: - Fairly large rooms that are cleaned thoughly every day - Tasty breakfast - Convenient location The negatives: - NOISE. There is construction going on in the building immediately adjacent to the hotel, every day 10am-6pm if not longer, rain or shine, weekday or weekend. While opinions might vary on whether this is the type of information the...

We stayed in 2 hotels while visiting Istanbul. Saruhan for 7 nights and City Center hotel for 5 nights. The first was very reasonable cost per night, added touches such as candies at reception, tea, coffee and water, Satelitte TV, safe in room, good A/C, 10 min walk to the Blue Mosque, quiet location, friendly, helpful staff and a good...

Saruhan is located just 5 mins off the touristy area in a very nice neighborhood with old wooden houses and small local shops. It really gives you the feeling you are in Turkey. At night local people sit down for a chat outside on the streets, kids are playing. A welcoming oasis in the midst of this touristic city ....

We can't say enough about this wonderful hotel. We stayed at Saruhan Hotel for 4 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The location was amazing. It was a few minutes walk away from all the major sites, but on top of that it was the only time we really saw a taste of Istanbul life. It was very...

.......especially for those who do like to stay a bit outside the "touristic" area, close to a living quartier, this is really a good choice. Nicce personel, great and abundant breakfast for buffett, clean rooms, can make use of terrace any time in the day.... one single "note": directions given from them at booking confirmation where not easy to be...

After 30 days traveling around Turkey, we found this oasis in Istanbul. Quiet location, great rooms, extremely friendly staff, gorgeous breakfast buffet with homemade jams etc. What else do you need? It's located 10 min away from the main tourist drag around Sultanahmet - thank God! But still close enough to get around by foot.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
