We stayed at the Kafkas for a total of five nights. Initially we arrived very late at night from the airport and were accommodated in room 101 (see room tips for more comment on this room). The following morning we asked to be placed in a different room and were rehoused on the 6th floor. When we returned to the...

Right outside the front steps of the hotel are convenience stores, bars, & shisha bars. You need not venture fare to get to the Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Spice Markets etc. The hotel is clean, has free wifi at the lobby (at time of visit), a rooftop restaruant with good view of the city, but is a bit older. Friendly...

It was an okay place to stay. I was in a single room that was very small and a little cramped but clean enough. The breakfast was basic. Beware of pre-paying for this hotel through online agencies... There was another couple that had to fully pay for their stay again. Reception also was very reluctant to help me with a...

Excellent location on the tram line with Topkapi, Agia Sophia and Galata Bridge within easy walking distance and plenty of shops and eating and drinking places close by. Rooms a bit shabby with plug sockets hanging out and strange smells. Some noise at night as one would expect on a main street in a big city. Breakfast ok with some...

This nice and friendly hotel has spacious rooms and is located near the Top Kapi, and a lot of other famous buildings in the city centre on the European side of the Bosparus. The hotel is easy to reach with the tram (also from the airport with one transfer from subway to the tram) with the nearby stop called 'Sirkeci'....

Fast and very friendly service at reception by Ayhan who is absolutely wonderful, very knowledgeable of the city and very keen to assist a lost tourist. Excellent customer service! The rooms are clean and well kept. I had a quiet and comfortable stay at the Kafkas. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone travelling to the city. Not expensive...

It is convenently located in the center of the Old Istanbul (right on the tram line). The hotel offers what are necessary for independent budget travelers -- small room/shower, modest breakfast, and free wireless connection. The hotel staffs were generally very helpful during my stay. The cleanness of the room was just adequate. However, I had been bothered by the...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
