We stayed here for our last night in Sri Lanka. The bungalow is beautifully laid out with 6 quaintly furnished rooms, ours had an outdoor bathroom, and a lovely restaurant. Wonderfully calm and quiet, hard to believe you are in the heart of Colombo. Some small issues with electricity, perhaps they need to replace a fuse or rewire the room...

We are a family of four who have stayed at Havelock Bungalow at the beginning of our trip for 2 nights and another night at the end. Great way to ease into travel. We had an airport transfer organized which was great for arrival at 4am, and had a taxi organized to get back out to the airport. Our family...

My wife and I went with our three children for 2 nights at Havelock Bungalows. The location is ok, but only 300 rupees to Fort in a Tuk Tuk. Very small hotel with only 7 rooms. Really nicely decorated in a simple colonial style. We had the large family room with two separate bedrooms and it was perfect. The staff...

Really nice, great place to relax in a really busy city, rooms look old but it goes with the feel of the bungalows, bed comfy and has everything you need, breakfast was the best we had was made to order, wish we had longer to eat in evening there.

Mosquitoes, noisy and barely there air conditioning, lumpy mattress, late night private party right outside our room, average food, fungus on the walls. Havelock Place Bungalow has great location, character and lovely staff but these factors don't quite make up for all the little annoyances. I understand that it is a budget hotel but certainly it could do with a...

We stayed in Havelock in the beginning of our trip in Sri Lanka and it was a great surprise. When we arrived at the airport, as we had ask the driver was waiting for us. The Havelock it's very well located, in the city center but out of the noise and the crowded traffic. The colonial house is very beautiful...

We stayed here for 1 night before starting to travel around the country. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. The room was very spacious and good AC. No mosquito nets and did get a few bites, but they did provide a plug in repellant

Even though situated in the city area where it is highly crowded and full of traffic. This place turns out to be a miracle in vanishing all those noises. A beautiful setup. Well maintained. You get a feel of old style bungalows vintage mode. Welcomed by an Awesome and sweet host Seema. She is fun to talk with and provided...

It's like a little amazing green colonial architecture paradise in the busy and chaotic city of Colombo. The staff is immensely friendly and helpful The swimming pool very decent and the breakfast very honest, without great inventions and because of that, pretty good It's not in the city center but probably that's a good thing

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Governor, Hand-written Deed and Peppercorn The year was 1892 and what was known as "Ceylon" was under British rule. Governor Havelock transferred the title to the land (on which the bungalows are built), by a hand-written deed to the Havelock Building Company on the payment of Rs. 1307/- and a Peppercorn. The present owners purchased the properties in the mid 1980's and lived there. The Havelock Place Bungalow was first opened to guests in December 1999. In the city, yet miles away... If you've ever visited the Bungalow, you would have noticed how discreet we have been about our presence. To the casual passer-by, the Bungalow appears to be nothing more than an old colonial home. Only a plaque with the name 'Havelock Place Bungalow' engraved on it, indicates that we are open to guests. No wonder the Bungalow continues to be Colombo's best kept secret! We are conveniently located so if you are in the mood for a visit to the Museum, Independence Square, or Temples, or would like to go on a shopping spree, you can get to your destination in a matter of minutes. It's a jungle. But definitely not the concrete type... When you enter our gates and walk along the paved pathways, you realize you are in an oasis, away from the bustle of the city. Trees are an intrinsic part of the Havelock Place Bungalow experience. You can enjoy your breakfast while watching our garden come alive with a variety of birds and butterflies, or relax on a bench and gaze at the stars as night approaches. The surrounding foliage lends a quiet charm to every part of the Bungalow. Welcome to the Bungalow! ... more   less
