Horrible substandard service. I stayed there for a night. The rooms are dirty and unkempt. The guards are invasive and do inappropriate body checks. I believe they charge exorbitantly as compared to the actual services that Marriot at Islamabad provides.

A luxury hotel in Islamabad. Provides free pickup and return from the airport. We love the breakfast here. Pratha is made fresh along with omelette and other dishes Good security here. Staff was exceptional in greeting and service. It was difficult to change foreign currency at the reception. It had rent a car service. Room service was good. Room had a bit outdated look but clean. Good flat screen tv. Great location as well. I will recommend this hotel. However Serena hotel seemed a bit more upscale

I have stayed at Marriott Islamabad many times before, and each time there were a few things which bothered me, but I let them go. However, this was my last time staying here, as it is not worth paying all that money and getting frustrated. Rooms - Not bad but furniture and carpet needs to be updated. House Keeping - I booked 2 rooms ( interconnected) since we are a family of 4. On checking in to our rooms, I asked for 2 bottles of water for each room, the house keeper replied that 'we are not allowed to give more than 1 but i'll try to manage something'. Later on, during our stay ( 8 nights) we had to repeatedly request water bottles and fresh towels every day. After seeing this routine of not providing towels and water for about 3 days I spoke to the duty manager, Miss Sania, and made her aware of this. She immediately noted down the room numbers and assured that she'll take care of it. Well, like I said, we had to keep requesting water and towels for the rest of our stay since nothing changed. Breakfast - food was good, IF you were lucky enough to find a table and get some. Every single day, we went down for breakfast wondering when and where we'll be able to find a table. I mentioned 'when' because the breakfast buffet closes exactly at 10:30 ( they're very punctual on that but other requests, not so much) To be fair, they do continue to serve tea, coffee and other left over food items after 10:30, but 10:30 on the dot, the lights go down, and the staff start wrapping up the stations. Where you get the table is also important, because the waiters can conveniently guide you to the coffee shop next door for a table initially, but it is so far away from the buffet area that none of the staff ever show up. The day we were seated there, i had to go and get the cutlery myself. Funny thing is when I asked the staff for some cutlery and napkins, they directed me to the drawer where i could get some instead of providing me some at the table. Staff - When I complained to the manager ( Miss Sania) about the breakfast issue, I was told that the hotel is busy and they'll try to do something about it. You guessed it, nothing happened. I also spoke to the restaurant manager Mr Asad about this horrible state of affairs. He said that they cant do much if all the hotel guests show up for breakfast between 9:30 and 10:30. Such reponses are not expected at a 5 star hotel, instead of offering solutions to guests. But, some guests had found a solution. BRIBERY. I would not have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself. People slipping 100 rs notes to waiters for tables and service ! I did wonder how some people ALWAYS found a comfortable spot and never having to get up for their food with waiters waltzing around them like moths to a flame. Disgusting and despicable. Imagine standing in a queue at the live cooking station for your breakfast, ( while keeping one eye on the clcok), and a waiter would go straight to the front, fetch his master's order and leave. This happened every single day. One day, my wife decided that she had had enough and raised her voice. A waiter, as usual, jumped to the front and started collecting the order. My wife called him out on doing this, to which he said that, the guest had placed his order half an hour ago and thats why he was fetching it for him. My wife sternly replied saying that it was a buffet and not A la carte service where people are placing orders. Finally, the waiter felt embarrassed and left. Final remarks: It really pains me to see that an iconic Islamabad hotel is going down the drain. Did not expect this kind of service and staff behaviour at a 5 star hotel. Perhaps they should remove a few stars just so that people dont expect much from it. The thing is I was willing to let all of this go and NOT put it down on the internet, only if, the hotel staff had simply asked me how my stay had been while checking out and I would've poured my heart out. Unfortunately, they couldn't even bother to do that. I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel reaches out to me now ( or not)offering me some compensation. But this is the exact thing I'm talking about. See I do not want preferential treatment because then I would be wronging other guests. At a 5 star hotel, the service standard should be such that all guests are satisfied. Sadly, in the case of Marriott Islamabad, this is not so, unless ofcourse you are willing to slip a few hundred rupees to the staff. Conclusion: Stay at Serena!

We arrived at 6pm and were told both of our rooms were not ready so we had to wait half an hour. This was already a long day and we just wanted to shower and clean up. After half an hour the receptionists checked us in, taking a very long time and eventually the manager came up and helped the two receptionists. Eventually we got our keys and went upstairs, only to find out they put us in two smoking rooms. We went back downstairs and let them know that we made a reservation for non-smoking rooms. They said that those rooms were not ready and that we had to wait an hour. The entire experience was not great as we had to get up early the next day to leave. I wish their customer service was better.

Marriot was one of the best experiences. The place and the view of the mountains are calming and relaxing your mind. The food was good and had a good variety. The staff was very supportive and caring of the customers at their best. We were there for two days, and the breakfast buffets were more or less the same. This is something to work on. Great Sr Lankan pastry chef and nice cakes and other products by the pastry section. Overall a good experience. Tip: Please check for pool timings as they have separate timings for male, female and families.
