The stay was average. Front desk staff speaks good English. I visited in late January. The room was way too warm for my liking so my sleep wasn't too good. The air conditioning doesn't work in winter and lowering down the temperature takes forever. The only way to cool down is to open the window, but with the air quality being very bad - not advisable. I ordered room service from the Irish place upstairs, but the guy there does not speak good English so instead of pumpkin soup I got some meat cream soup. The thing I did not like and which kinda spoiled my morning plans as I had an arranged meeting, was the fact that the breakfast which was supposed to start at 7am, was 30 minutes late. If you tell people it's from 7am, then please stick to it. No other complaints. Oh, maybe just the omnipresent smell of coal in the entire city, thus also in rooms, but I guess it's just me, a visitor not being used to it. …
A very clean and modern hotel in a very central part of the city. It’s not a 5 star big name western hotel, but has all the amenities you need: clean 100% cotton linens, super comfy bed, bathrobes, slippers, and high speed internet. The toiletries are 5 star as well… toothbrushes, loofa bath scrubs, disposable bath slippers, etc. the internet is also 80+MBPS throughout for fast downloads, even with a US based VPN. Highly recommend the place for up to $60-70 a night.
great place to rest after a long trip from Bangkok Thailand. I had a long plane ride almost 10 hours with jet lag… but with nice and warm room and a warm bath. it felt so great and refreshing. with the weather here being so different from Thailand, it’s so important to have a good rest. so Thank you so much and now I am ready to go on a horse riding adventure.
Grand hill is 4 star hotel in center of Ulaanbaatar. Rooms with big and comfortable bed. I am from Turkey and they allow me vegetarian breakfast. Restaurant has panoramic view with tasty foods. You can order from room.
I stayed here at the end of my tour and really liked the place. The location is a little further out from the city center, which suited me just fine. The rooms are large and provide all the modern amenities. I found the bed comfortable and not too hard, especially compared to many Asian beds. Free bottled water and all the toiletries one would need were also a nice touch. There are three restaurants and a coffee shop in the hotel: Korean, Chinese/Hot Pot, and an 'Irish Pub". All had great food very reasonably priced. After being in the countryside for a number of days I really appreciated the salads and fresh vegetables! I also liked the ability to hang out in the coffee shop working and writing while enjoying a great latte. The woman working there really made me feel welcome. The room rate included a free breakfast buffet offering a number of choses. Though heavily leaning toward the Asian clientele (almost all of their tourist are Korean or Chinese), there were plenty of selections to meet my American tastes. TRAVEL TIP: I originally booked through an on-line booking app that showed two rates, one without breakfast and one with breakfast for $12 dollars more. Breakfast is included. Period. Book the lower rate and you will still get breakfast. The best part of the stay was the front desk. Most had excellent English and Korean skills and all were very kind and accommodating. I left my large suitcase with them at the start of my tour and forgot to pay (!) . They just taped the bill to my suitcase and did not seem worried when I returned. They lowered my rate upon my return to the 'off season" rate and gave me a late check out to accommodate my evening flight. Super helpful! And they have a spa...a must after being in the countryside!! (I'll write a separate review)…
We stayed here 3 nights in total throughout our 2 week stay. Very clean, the rooms were big, breakfast was good. The staff were lovely and spoke fluent English. They have an omelette station and a menu to suit Asian breakfast and western breakfast. They have several restaurants as well and a cafe. They stored my excess luggage for the time I was traveling around the countryside. Everything was accounted for and safe. It’s close to 2 grocery stores and walking distance to a mall where you can buy SIM cards for your phone. One note I would make is that the rooms run really really hot. We all tried to turn the heat down but couldn’t. It was sometimes hard to sleep because of it. Other than that it’s a great value.
This hotel is very charming with a lot of character. The decor and style is very traditional. The queen room is very petite. Beautiful staff with restaurants, bakeries. w/everything you need. The sauna was new and fitness room was great.
Great location. Staff were very helpful and were wonderful in helping us communicate with Aeroflot, as our luggage had been left in Moscow. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. We would highly recommended this hotel.
Large clean room, good aircon, comfortable beds, good free wifi and my room was quiet; also centrally located and quite easy of access. There is a spa and exercise place for those of such persuasion. Many of the staff speak quite good English too, unlike some hotels here. The Irish Pub atop it on floor 16 is good and has excellent draft beer, you take the lift to floor 15 and go up a flight of stairs.
Good location, near all the important offices and shops in UB. The hotel is clean with big rooms and good facilities. Beds and linens clean and comfortable. Service is very good, with special friendly attention from Ms. Duka and her colleagues.
