I have been in and out of UB for a number of years and recall the Ulaanbaatar Hotel when it had a prominent statue of Lenin right out front. That has given way to the new UB Hotel, in the process of having the grand entry remodeled, probably finished by this writing, however. I stayed there this time around because...

The Ulaanbaatar Hotel is an old but charming hotel, soviet style, central located. Rooms are spacious with a small suite, clean, quiet. Average buffet breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. It is under renovation (sepetember 2016)

This hotel lookes very like a relic from the Soviet period decorated with marble staircase and oak doors, tables and chairs. It reminds me the "Moscow" hotel near the Red Square but made without any imagination or architect decorations. It presents itself as 5* hotel but by any ratings it will never goes higher than 3*. Pluses are quite modest:...

the room was very spacious and quiet. felt at home. none of the general hustle and bustle of a nouveau riche hotel. staff was very helpful and went out of the way to help. due for renovation shortly but if that happens the old age charm should not vanish

I've stayed at Ulaanbaatar hotel on two separate trips to Mongolia. The first trip was in 2000. At that time Ulaanbaatar Hotel was one of the nicest in the capital. It is old and constructed during Soviet rule of Mongolia. During my recent stay in early May, I booked the hotel for two reasons: 1) I had been there before...

We have stayed here twice this month and each room had easily fixed maintenance matters that apparently are beyond the competence of whoever is in charge of such things. Wallpaper ripped, bathroom door doesn't close and a skirting board trying to escape from the wall, plus tired carpets were our lot. But it's not a bad place with all the...

The hotel selection based upon location (located right beside Sukhbaatar Square) was quite reasonable. Everything else remembers my 1990`s visits of the region. The front office staff was old fashioned but fair, service in the lobby bar slow and with minimum interest. The price is comparatively low but I find the hotel as a missed opportunity.

As someone who has been visiting Mongolia since 1991 -- when this was the most prestigious hotel in town -- I find it quite depressing to see how little they have done to make the hotel reflect the huge changes that have occurred in Mongolia since then. Two exceptions; there is good wifi in the rooms, and breakfast is not...

I went to Mongolia to attend a conference, and decided to stay here. The hotel isn't big, but it is very clean, has very accommodating staff (even during e-mail exchanges before the trip,) and has an unbeatable location (located right beside Sukhbaatar Square.) The prices of the rooms were quite cheap for a "5-star" hotel, as compared to other newly-built...

Though this hotel is quite old I think they've done a good job making it comfortable. The rooms are huge with great views of the city. They are also very clean. The staff is friendly, helpful and kind.
