We stayed in Urgoo Boutique Hotel for eight nights during Naadam Festival 2019. The location is the best we can have in UB. We can walk everywhere from the hotel, even to the stadium for Naadam or to Seoul Street for the restaurants and bars. The room (403) is very spacious and well-equipped (there is a small kitchen, but no dishes). The bathroom is perfect. The breakfast (included) should be improved with more options or a small buffet in the restaurant. We booked many months in advance, because of Naadam. We reconfirmed the reservation many times before our arrival. When we checked in at the hotel, we were told to pay the whole stay AND a "city tax". During the reservation process and the reconfirmations, we were not told about this tax. One week before, we had stayed at another hotel in UB (New West Hotel) and we were not told to pay this tax. We understand that some hotels in the world charge city taxes, but it must be informed when you book the room. In general, the staff is very, very friendly. UB is a good place to visit and if I come back, I will stay again in Urgoo, I recommend it!!…
I can strongly recommend Urgoo Boutique hotel for the excellent location, big and comfortable rooms (business suites) and very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of restaurants and coffee places near by. Would be nice to have some more vegetarian options in the restaurant although I realize Mongolians prefer meat! The manager was very helpful in organising my healthy breakfast!
This is a nice small hotel and I very much enjoyed my stay. The staff were all helpful and friendly to me. I always felt welcome. My room was comfortable and the bathroom was modern and stylish. It took a long time for the hot water to reach the shower, but I was patient and it finally arrived. The restaurant was excellent and breakfast was a delight. The wi-fi worked very well for me. The location was perfect. The hotel is on a quiet street facing a small park with many attractive restaurants along the street. I enjoyed several dining options nearby - Peruvian, Korean, International - all very tasty. The hotel is just a block off the main square and very convenient for walking around the city center. The hotel staff was always friendly and helpful, giving me advice about directions, restaurant options, travel to the airport, etc. I stayed in the hotel at the beginning of my time in Mongolia and at the end of my time. It was a very good experience for me. …
Urgoo Boutique is a centrally located hotel, with the national museum across the street. Although a block from Sukhbataar square, the hotel area isn't overly congested. Hotel block (Tourist St)has narrow garden which is very pleasant to look out at when you're in the restaurant downstairs. The hotel serves complimentary breakfast at the restaurant or to your room. Very professional and friendly English speaking staff. Fairly priced overall including the airport pickup at 60k Tughrik. Would definitely recommend Urgoo for your stay in Ulaanbaatar.
No doubt the location is the most attractive about this hotel - right next to GK square. The rooms are of adequate size but are quite worn out. Internet is unstable at times. Staff tries to be helpful but due to limited English doesn't always work out :) A big discussion point was the prize the hotel charged for airport pick-up/dropoff. It was almost twice the normal going rate (They wanted to charge $25 while normal rate is $15)
Urgoo was a great hotel. It is in a great location close to the main square and the natural history museum. They were very friendly and they English was very good. When my husband became unwell they were very helpful with providing medical care. Would definitely stay here again!
We booked this hotel based on reviews and we weren’t disappointed. I contacted the hotel months in advance to arrange tickets for the Nadaam festival and the manager, Amgalan, was very accommodating. He also arranged an airport pickup for us and even brought us back to the airport the next day to get our lost luggage. Location is perfect...right next to the main square, across the street from the National Museum and within easy walking distance of the State Department Store. The restaurant downstairs served us our best meal in Ulaanbaatar. If it hadn’t closed for the festival, we would have eaten there every night. Rooms were clean, but aged. The beds were firm, but comfortable. Bathroom was nicely appointed with the toilet in a separate closet. Our room had a small balcony, which was nice since a/c isn’t widely used here. We quickly realized thought that we needed mosquito repellant if we wanted to sleep with the balcony door or window open. The best part of the room was the small kitchenette. We could heat up leftovers, make coffee or ramen soups in the middle of the night when jet lag kept us awake. Great tourist class hotel!…
We chose the Urgoo for the UB leg of our Trans Mongolian train journey staying a couple of nights. We tried the restaurant via room service and had breakfast the first morning (our train left early the second). So the hotel scores most highly for its location which matters in UB because the traffic is a bit of a nightmare - it makes taking a taxi a major time commitment plus getting across the road can be a bit exciting. The centrality of the hotel means you get the central district benefit of pedestrian crossings plus there's loads to see a comfy stagger from its door. The room is spacious and warm (its late September and the night temp is already well south of 0) - it's also comfortable. It has all facilities you would expect, everything works nicely (although the telly had a hissy fit day 1 but settled when we figured how to use correctly). The other big plus is the staff are nice people who try their level best - not to be knocked. All in all the Urgoo and its staff made our short stay in UB comfortable and, as a result, we got loads done. Well done them. …
A wonderful boutique hotel in a 1920's townhouse just opposite the National Museum and very close to most central delights that you may wish to visit. I booked direct and they also arranged to meet at the airport which they did with perfect efficiency. Stayed in a suite which was reasonably spacious and comfortable and overlooked the small garden park which is outside the hotel. The water takes ages to warm up but the shower was very powerful and worth the wait, although the wasted water was a bit of a guilt trip. The staff are super-friendly with adequate English skills, talking of which a full English breakfast is an option. Unlike almost everywhere else in Mongolia the breakfast portions are somewhat skimpy. For character, location and charm, you won't go far wrong staying here.…
Great location, friendly staff - some had better English than others. Clean and tidy. Breakfast could be a little hit and miss but we all got there in the end. Would certainly stay here again in UB. As another reviewer noted, it gets a slightly hard time in the guidebooks, I don't know why.
