Cheap bamboo fan singles available on 2nd floor. AC rooms comfortable and inexpensive enough with lots of local character and tv suspended up high. Attached bathrooms pretty funky but slowly being renovated. Mixed couples are permitted. No snide looks or racist rules. Locals also stay here, mostly salesmen or Lao families with kids. Adequate low key respectable place. Quiet and...

This SaylomYen Guesthouse is the older brother of the Saylomyen Guesthouse in an earlier listing. Both guesthouses are owned by the same person. This Saylomyen Guesthouse, on Saylom Road, near the Vientiane Municipal Public Health Dept. is an older, funky guesthouse, used by local Lao and international visitors who are many times visitors to Laos. Rooms run $8-15 a night,...

I found Vientiane pricey anyway, but this was cheaper than everything else. It shows, we are not glamourous travellers and the room had air con and a (teeny, tiny) tv so no real complaints. Very basic. My complaint is with the management really. We arrived and they knew nothing about our booking from booking.com. We had to tell him everything...

Rooms are not worth the price. They are old ugly and smelly. AC working bad - after few hours of working you can feel cold. Room is full of strange warnings such as "one scratch on wall - you will pay 800 bahts". They wants your payment right after check in.

We only stayed at this guesthouse for 1 night as we had friends staying at the Aroon Residence around the corner. We read the reviews and saw the pictures so we weren't expecting much It's old, dark, dingey and doesn't feel clean. On top of that we had the air con going all night and it just didn't work, in...

Lots of reviews we read of this place gave high marks on the "you get what they'll say you get" view...which is fair enough. We found it to be ok. Yes it's clean, and has the limited facilities it claims to, and the price is low, but overall the rooms are still very basic, and a little shoddy, which undermines...

I stayed in a fan room wich is rather spacious, bed is big and comfortable, linen seems new and clean. Very clean guesthouse, all day long you can meet cleaning ladys in one place or another. The area is quite, but in 10 minutes you can reach Megkong river. There are lots of local cafes nearby, lundary service places and...

Perfect guest house located in the city center and ten minutes away from the crowded area + Wifi is included. Staff is very nice. -------- Many people give reviews comparing a guest house to a 5 stars hotel. I believe a review should be related to what you get for a price, and to the matching (or not matching) to...

“Guesthouse is for backpack and budget visitors who like to meet local Lao people, and need only basic amenities. Some rooms have hot water, one room has a TV, but receives mostly Thai and Vietnamese channels. The front lobby TV can receive international channels”
