Located nearby but not in the old center of Vientiane in a old villa with a very nice garden with old big trees. Of course rooms are not hyper-modern but they breath the atmosphere that must have been in Vientiane about 50 years ago. We had a Suite room behind the main building, with a separate living room. The bathroom... More

I love the interior decor of this hotel. Very authentic and homely. Location quite central, very close to river. Breakfast was good too! Recommend taking a stroll down the river around 5-6 PM and watch locals engage in Fair like atmosphere with street food, games and drinks.

Don't have anything good to say about Vientiane however this hotel was quiet and had nice gardens. The rooms were big and clean. Staff at the front counter were not very helpful. Did not eat at the restaurant because it was expensive

Great room, great AC, kind employees, and a lovely setting!!! Couldn't be happier. We also found a cheaper price listed online than they quoted us when we arrived, and they happily offered us the lower price. They rent bikes from the hotel for $3/day. Love it here!!

Stayed 2 nights at The Mandala based on other TA reviews. We opted for a suite which was on the second floor, large room with very comfortable bed, no view at all. Slightly faded grandeur is probably a fair description. The breakfast is very good, we took dinner in the restaurant one evening and this really is very nice, attentive... More

The room are pretty small for what you pay for and not the best location. The staff is great and speak good english. But they do have the best food in Laos. The hotel is a 4 but the restaurant makes it a 5.

This hotel is very cute. It has a charming little garden and a very nice restaurant on location. Once we arrived there, the staff was very friendly. We were four people and booked three superior rooms. I was lucky enough to get pumped up to Deluxe because all superiors were full. My room was therefore very nice - much better... More

This is a most welcoming hotel with a real family feel about it. It has a most accommodating manageress (Noy) who speaks excellent English. The room I had was relatively small, but more than adequate. AC works well and the whole hotel is very quiet and peaceful. Remember, I was there in the low season. Breakfast is a combination of... I was very happy to stay in this hotel. The rooms are cute with pretty small details (be ready to go to the toilet with no door ;) ). The main building is gorgeous! The breakfast is served in the yard in a beautiful yard building with lots of windows. Beautiful morning light! The location is great. Just a few... More

Mansion well converted to hotel, with a luxurious unit built on and a gazebo building bar and breakfast room. Unfortunately they were not ready for dinners, which meant a fairly long tuk tuk ride into town. We were fortunate in being moved to one of the new addition rooms, with a spectacular glass walled bathroom. Grounds and porches great for... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
As Vientiane changes, so does our villa. Originally built as a private residence for a French family in the 1960s, the site became a school with up to 500 children in 1992 before it was turned into a hotel at the beginning of this century. Despite the changes, our guests still can feel the privacy and comforts of home in each corner of the hotel. The four original buildings host 23 newly designed rooms and are surrounded by a green and cozy garden with seats under large shady trees. The Mandala Boutique Hotel is located in a small side road away from the busy streets of Vientiane, but within walking distance to the city center and just a 15-minute drive from the airport. ... more   less
