We stayed at the Mixok Guesthouse (not to be confused with Mixok inn) for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay for the most part. There was one gentleman at the front desk which ended up being our favourite and only reason to stay here. He was very kind and had a good sense of humour. He ended up giving us...

As long-term travellers on a budget, finding acceptable accommodation at a reasonable price in Vietiane proved quite difficult - most places were out of our price range and those that weren't were of a considerably lower standard than what we'd encountered in other parts of SE Asia. After checking several places, Mixok Guesthose seemed to be the best of a...

Don't be fooled, there is Mixok Hotel just a few store fronts down from this (Mixok Guest House) which I think many tour books recommend. This guesthouse staff is friendly but the rooms are dirty and lacking. Our shower was broken so you had to hold the nozzle over your head the whole time and the drain didn't work well....

Because of poor planning we ended up here after an hour bus ride from Luang Prabang without a reservation in advance. I'm not surprised the place had rooms available..the hotel felt VERY dirty. Out of the four weeks we have been traveling through southeast asia this was easily the lowest quality hotel despite a comparable price to other ones we...

The room is clean. Ok, it is not that clean. But clean sheet, hot water and cool AC are enough for us. Staff can speak Thai, English and some French. Room is 150000 Keep with a selection of breakfast dish with coffee or tea for two persons. The hotel smacked in the middle of temples, restaurants and museums. A simple...

Ok so first thing to say is the location is fab, right in the middle of all the cafes, bars, travel agents, fifteen mins from the airport etc etc. So if that's all you're after and you don't mind staying in a fairly basic spot for a night or two, no need to read on. Main issues were as follows:...

I came Lao for visa run, stayed at mixok guesthouse for 2 nights. Guesthouse is in the middle of everything! And also that was the cheapest room i could find in this area. I didnt expect it to be really nice! Air con was working well. Stayed at 3rd floor back side room, it was peaceful so i could have...

The hotel is okay. It's quite clean, but the beds are in bad condition (I could feel the springs). Breakfast is included but nothing exceptional (and terrible and slow service). It was very busy and staff were not very efficient... There are better options nearby. Wifi did not work well at all.

(Mixok Inn) Pros - owner is really nice and helpful - free breakfast - air con - tv with lots (English) movie channels Cons - room stunk like sewer - the place is next to a main road and sleep is impossible at night as the bikes are so loud -questionable price for the value. Not sure if I'd return....
