On arrival at Wattay International Airport, we were warmly received by Mr Phayud who was very friendly and attentive. We had arranged for the airport transfer at USD10 per way just days before our trip and there was no hassle at all. Mr Phayud also provided us with invaluable advice on moving around to the touristy places in Vientiane and...

This is an extremely nice hotel, but then I would have expected nothing less given it was by far the most expensive night on my month-long trek around Indochina. The airport pick-up was in the hotel's own car which was a nice touch, and check-in was efficient and friendly. The decor is very nice. My room was very comfortable but...

We stayed at Salana for 2 nights and it was just as good as we expected. Everywhere was easily accessible by foot; the river, night market and temples. The staff were very helpful with plenty of suggestions for things to do and where to eat. The hotel was boutique with decent size rooms and an excellent buffet breakfast. I would...

Very easy to get to the river, the night market and many other places on foot. Bedroom was comfortable, quiet and the massage at the Spa was excellent. Breakfast was adequate but we did not eat dinner in the hotel as it was fun to sit at one of the pavement cafes.

I spent nearly two and a half weeks at this hotel while on work travel. While the hotel is a little small and lacks amenities like a swimming pool and gym, it's a great place to stay, and much much nicer than the larger hotels. The location is ideal for walking around the main old town part of Vientiane. What...

The Salana is a pretty cool boutique hotel just off the main street in Vientiane and also very close to the river. So location is excellent. The hotel is very clean and the staff are welcoming from the start. Our room was very nice & spacious & modern. We overlooked the temple next door. Breakfast was included and the food...

We were booked here by a friend who operates a travel agency in Bangkok. The hotel staff were friendly and gracious, as were the restaurant personnel. The hotel rooms have a warm, comfortable feel with lots of dark wood and modern amenities, and ours overlooked the street below and a temple complex. The view left no doubt that we were...

I haven't given a hotel 5 stars yet, but Salana would get a full 4.5 stars if not for unusable internet. I'm really not sure what it is about Laos that makes it so hard for these hotels to provide their guests with a stable internet connection. It's not like internet itself is difficult to get over there; I can...

Just spent 4 nights here. Pros: great location and sweet staff. Room was at the back and bigger than my larger than average bedroom in London (no idea why some reviewers thought the rooms were small... have they been to Paris?!) Cons: don't order cocktails here... they haven't a clue... and charged me extra for mixer soda in an undrinkable...

While we only stayed one night in Hotel Salana, I found this hotel very well located and the staff and service extremely courteous. A 10 minute walk to the night market area and some great street food just around the corner. The rooms were spacious and the spa service was very good. There's also a small shop in the hotel...
