I decided to take a break from Thailand and instead once again visit Cambodia, having previously visited Siem Reap. I was unsure as to what I would find in this 'infamous' city of past tragedy. Why did I pick this particular hotel, possibly the roof top pool. My initial introduction to the hotel was a bit of a let down with my airport collection being late due to a misunderstanding by the contract driver, not the hotel. Once that was sorted my check-in was accomplished in a totally professional and friendly manner, with the rules of the hotel regarding 'extra nightly guests' fully explained. I was allocated Room 706 on the 7th floor, a corner room. Access to the floor is by security room pass and there are security cameras throughout the hotel, a fairly secure safe hotel. The room was airy, quite large and clean with a double bed that was extremely comfortable.There were separate hand basin, toilet and shower facilities, which allows a couple to manage their needs independently. A writing desk, TV, fridge, room safe and coffe/tea making facilities are also provided. Room 706, during my stay was quiet with no ambient noise allowing me a relaxing sleep. I used the small but adequate gym on the 9th floor, which like the rest of the hotel was clean. I also utilsed the swimming pool, which was spotless and provided great views across the city. There are ample sunbeds and also tables and chairs which form part of the bar restaurant area. The bar/restaurant again provides wonderful night time views of the city and is a nice place to enjoy a quiet drink in a relaxing atmosphere. I spent an enjoyable evening there, sitting reading my book whilst imbibing on a few cold ales. The staff are all friendly and helpful able to provide honest reliable information about transport costs and sensible suggestions as to where and where not to shop. The hotel is almost surrounded by bars, retauarants and karaoke establishments. Visitors looking for the 'fun' side of Phnom Penh will have no trouble finding what they are looking for, just turn right upon leaving the hotel and there it is. Those like me who want a less demanding and quieter evening with reasonably priced drinks, excellent food and service can also turn right and walk 200 metres to the 'Ostro Bistro & Lounge', which sits at a four way crossroad, Highly recommended for couples and families. On the opposite side of the crossroad is the 'Butterfly Bar', which again boasts reasonably priced drinks, friendly staff, plus the addition of hostessess. Worth a visit. Back to the hotel. I used the room service on one occasion and found, again, that the service and food were both excellent, with the food being reasonably priced. I highly recommend this hotel as it completely met my 4 'C' - Cost Cleanliness Comfort Courtesy

I just finished 3 nights of staying in Sun & Moon, and it was a wonderful stay during my trip in Phnom Penh. The room was spacious with a hip modern style and a comfortable bed. Amazing pool overlooking the Phnom Penh skyline. Delicious breakfast (the noodle soup is so hearty tasty, kudos to people who make this!). To wind yourself down: the spa has hot cold jacuzzi, steam, and sauna that you can use.
Of course it won't be complete without the people behind this hotel. Everyone has done their part for the brilliant service. Special shoutout to the General Manager Noel who was very attentive during the stay. The F&B and Kitchen team: special to Akara. The front office: special to Komsoth. The spa manager Both: appreciate for your time taking me around, and the spa team especially Daro. The housekeeping, the security team that ALWAYS smile whenever I'm around, even some of the back of the house who spent some time with me. Thank you for making the stay special.

I've stayed here at the Sun and Moon over 5 times now so I'm a little biased, but there's many reasons I keep coming back. I checked out today after 3 weeks and was extremely happy with the experience. The services that make it a stand out compared to others in the price range are the rooftop pool and bar (one of the best views in the city), high quality gym, great breakfast and room service, and excellent spa with experienced therapists. I left my phone in a Tuktuk and the front office manager (Mr Kina), went into full detective mode and long story short was able to get hold of someone who picked it up and organised for the phone to be dropped back to the hotel. I couldn't be more grateful to Bong Kina for the extra effort he went to to ensure everything was okay, and he continued to be of great help for the rest of the trip. All the staff are dedicated and professional, doing their best after resuming operations not long ago. The location is as central and the rooms are soundproofed enough for there being no problem with external noise. Beds are outstanding and super comfortable. Definitely worth staying, I highly recommend it and will be back next time I return to Phnom Penh.

Recently stayed here 2 nights while on a trip through Southeast Asia. The location of the hotel was in walking distance to several good restaurants and the local market. The staff were very pleasant and service was good. The hotel had a nice rooftop bar with an infinity pool and view over the city. The room, however, was just Ok. The decor tries too hard to be “urban chic” and the result is just odd. The largest window looked out into an open air hallway. This meant the curtains needed to be closed for any privacy because people walking to their rooms could see in. There was no closet, just a bar to hang a few items on. This added to a cluttered look. The breakfasts were decent but nothing memorable. This hotel is fair to good, but I just can’t agree with the many 5 star reviews on this site.

Room choice are done by the guests and different room categories of course have different benefits, such as view, balcony and more storage space; it depending on what you like to spend for the room. Usually our hotel is mostly booked by guests who love to adventure around the city and don't stay long inside the room. For the overall traveler, I wish to take the opportunity to state our view for our breakfast. We do serve all items, all you can eat, which usually is served in international standard 4* hotels, including Asian and Western choices, freshly cooked eggs, porridge, noodle soup, 4 hot dishes, bread varieties with freshly baked croissants, Danish, whole grain, several fresh fruits and salads, cold cut, cheese, jams, peanut butter, pancakes, cereals and others. Naturally to compare our breakfast with an international western branded hotel with double the room prices you would pay, may not be the right bench market. Phnom Penh is slowly waking up post-COVID and needs as many tourists as it can get. Sun and Moon is a very comfortable base for exploring the city. Central Market, Riverside, Independence Monument, Wat Phnom, Wat Ounayum are all within easy ealking distance. Orussey Market is still walkable if you are intrepid enough.
Airport pickup transfer was seamless. The room itself was very comfortable and very well insulated against noise. Rooftop bar and pool were great by day and by night. Staff were unfailingly attentive and polite in the Khmer way.
The restaurant was good but not cheap by Phnom Penh standards, and the drinks were quite expensive by local standards. They also reserved the entire cost on my credit card, and then at the end asked me to pay with a separate transaction, which left me about $600 out of pocket temporarily until the reserved transaction cleared. Not cool for anyone travellingnon a budget. Still, these are very minor complaints and I would definitely be very happy to stay here again.

I've been on working rip to Phnom Penh for the last four years, and have always chosen Sun & Moon Urban. It feels like home, now, with friendly staff, and a great location (ignore that it's just at the end of the red-light district; they people don't bother you if you ignore them (they're polite)
A short 300m walk to the riverside, and a slightly longer walk in the opposite direction to the Central Market.
Rooms are clean, things work, and the Skybar give you great views of the city at night. The pool is cool, too, though I've only used it once in the four years I've been there.
Its quiet, unless you're in the uppermost floors and there's a weekend party at the rooftop bar.
Nice Gym and Spa, too.

Every time I travel to Phnom Penh, I have to pass by this hotel, always warm welcome, clean and well located on the banks of the Mekong. We arranged a ride with them from the airport ( $20 US ) - love getting greeted with my name on a sign. ( I thought the airport would have been more chaotic but it wasn't so maybe you could find a taxi for less? But who needs the stress)
Our first stay was 3 nights in April 2022, had a room on the 4th floor ( 410 I think ) with a king bed. Comfy bed, black out curtains, and enough counter space to spread out. The 2nd time we were there May 2022 we had a room on the 2nd floor ( 203) which had all the same great amenities but the WIFI was super weak and you had to stand by the door to use it. The bathroom is painted orange which I loved!
The breakfast buffet is robust. Noodles and eggs to order, pastries, juices, coffee, bacon - full spread. The breakfast server (Trey ) was amazing and remembered us which I thought was cool -
You can walk all around and the area really comes to life at night.

I recently stayed at the Sun and Moon Urban in Cambodia i was keeping my expectations very low. I was pleasantly surprised from my airport hotel pick up the driver was super friendly and professional it was a pleasant relaxing drive to the hotel. I arrived to check in desk everyone was so nice and helpful i was at the desk for 30 seconds and a welcome drink and towel was given to me. I went to my room i got a suite with a balcony the room is huge very clean it has a modern feel but the decor might not be to everyones liking. After i settled in i had a reservation at the spa I had a wonderful 60 minute massage she was super professional and it was only 35 bucks reasonable for hotel pricing but hotel offered 12 promo for massage for guests I decided to have dinner on the Sky lounge on the roof wow it has amazing views i ordered the Pasta Bolognese it was excellent. I had daily breakfast included it does the job it has all the basics that you need to get your day going. The hotel has 2 Tuk tuk drivers they were excellent might be a little more than someone off the street but it is better to go with the hotel Tuk Tuk in case something happens. It is close to all the night life and Riverside walking distance. I would definitely would recommend hotel. I want to personally thank The front office manager Mr Bunkina he was super attentive and the staff everyone was very engaging everyday asking how your doing and good morning hold elevator doors for you. Just great staff!!!

We have just completed a fantastic stay at this hotel. From the front customer service , to the meals, rooms, massage , cleanliness , roof top bar and pool, were all excellent. I need to recommend Sitha and Marly for their massage skills. Ive had a lot of massages in my time and can honestly say their skills and abilities would be difficult to beat. My wife and I really enjoyed our massages here by these two ladies. Just excellent massage and good value also. The breakfasts were amazing, with an excellent selection. The foyer and how it was set up was really good when waiting, or wanting to meet someone as they come into tye hotel as they have half round lounges set up like booths that give some good privacy , while also being open enough and easily accessable, with a bar to get drinks etc if you would like. Rooms were kept nice and clean , well set out and roomy. Showers hot and roomy with great water pressure. We also found the rooms because we had a couple of rooms with our kids staying also, very nice and quite . The location was excellent for Phnom Penh. Between the central markets and river district. Also close to the local attractions, such as the museum and palace, being in walking distance. Heaps of nice restaurants etc very close, but we mainly ate at the hotel because we found the food very nice and reasonably priced and the skybar views of the river district and the city in general, made things very interesting when sitting and relaxing. I'm a long term traveler to Cambodia coming and going for around 20 years and staying at many different hotels re holidays and Bisiness. I can say this hotel is very suitable for just about all requirements. I really can't fault this hotel against its star rating, price, location and quality etc. I will be returning for sure.
