Detailed Reviews
We stayed for 3 nights in December 2019 and had a great experience. The location is perfect for Phnom Penh, walking distance to everything like the Royal Palace, riverfront, Wat Phnom and the Central Market, or a cheap tuk tuk if it's too hot.
We had a studio room, which was on the 4th floor, it was very quiet and relaxing, had a small balcony but it wasn't really suitable for sitting out on (only one chair). Still it was nice to look out at a glimpse of the Palace and Museum. The room itself was large and well appointed. They provide a water filter in your room, but also bottled water which we felt was unnecessary. Perhaps to help with the waste, they could do away with water bottled in plastic. The pool area was lovely, although busy as we were there over Christmas. There was alot of loungers that had been claimed but were not being used, I guess if I had one area that could be improved, the staff could monitor this so that people wanting a lounger could get one. But that's a small thing. All in all we loved our stay, the staff were lovely, the food at breakfast was good and we would definitely return if we find ourselves in Phnom Penh another time.

+1
3 nights here was enough to see the city but not fully enjoy the hotel. All the staff are so polite and helpful. The hotel arranged a driver to collect us from the airport which meant no stress there. You pay the driver direct as he does not work for the hotel. Location wise you are a 5 minute walk from the Royal Palace / river. A great location for a first visit to the city. Check in was smooth and included a glass of water and a small portion of ice cream. We booked a deluxe pool view and had the room on the 1st floor directly in front of the end of the pool. There is a lot of greenery and trees making the balconies secluded. The room had a double bed and maybe a queen, it was bigger than a single. There is limited storage or so we found with 2 large cases. The bathroom has the amenities you need and a good quality shower. Breakfast is a buffet with Asian and Western choices plus an omelette station. The pool area is a haven after a day sight seeing. With approx 8 cabanas and a number of beds around. Towels are provided as well as cushions for extra comfort. The pool is 7 meters by 20 meters and is a good temperature. The whole hotel is well maintained and clean. Complimentary water is provided in the room along with water filling stations around the hotel. Note this is not chilled. This was a great choice hotel and I would highly recommend it.

This hotel is definitely a calm oasis from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. We arranged for an airport pickup and the driver was there waiting with our names on a board which is always a welcome sight after a long flight. On arrival at the hotel we were offered a towel and welcome drink. We were pleased to find the room was a good size and immaculately clean and we had a small outdoor area with a couple of chairs. I loved the landscaping around our room and pool area.
The breakfast buffet had a great selection and we also had lunch there. Cocktails were a little pricey compared to other places. There is a water refill station on the ground floor which was great to see and meant we didn't have to use the bottled water in the room.
Overall I loved our stay there and only wished it could have been for longer.

I travel for both business and pleasure, always staying in 5* hotels and this hotel is up there with the best of them!
This is NOT Middle Eastern style posh, it is more Caribbean boho vibes, so if you are looking for Instagramable luxury, I would chose somewhere else (although having said that, the pool is pretty instagramable!).
I chose this hotel as I was coming to the end of a backpacking trip and wanted some sunbathing. I read many reviews and this pool was recommended, so I booked two nights. I am SO glad I did.
The pool is amazing, plenty of day beds in the shade and loungers either in shade or in sun. I got back from a Killing Fields tour at midday and expected to not have a chance at getting a sun bed, but I was so wrong! There were many spare, with a pick of sun or shade.
The room is large and airy, with a bed with a mosquito net which is ideal. The bed itself is SO comfortable and the aircon blows straight onto you. I would say it’s one of the most comfortable nights sleep I’ve had in a LONG time! The bathroom is clean and the dressing gowns are light and comfy.
I did not eat in the La Pergola restaurant, only at the poolside restaurant, although I would say that I had the best salad I have ever eaten for lunch. You can “build your own” which is wonderful. For supper I finished with the Tropical Profiteroles which you MUST try - they are to DIE for.
Chandara Ny who works behind reception kindly organised a trip to the killing fields for me and I thought it was good value for money and very flexible around whatever I wanted. I have felt like the staff would go above and beyond for me.
Regrettably I am now spending my last night in Asia in the Courtyard Marriott (I have a free night with points) but I doubt that the service (or pool!) will be anywhere near as good.
Thanks again The Plantation Resort, hopefully one day I will be back!

This really is a lovely boutique hotel. Modern and contemporary but it has not lost its charm. In a great location a short Tuk Tuk ride to all major attractions and eating places. The hotel pool is truly excellent, one of the few, as you travel around, that is better than it’s website pictures and we were able to get sun beds each afternoon after a hot morning of sight seeing. The eating and drinking areas are all lovely, with great attention to detail with the furnishings and finishing touches. We had a basic room, which was really well appointed and a very good size (one complaint from my partner is that you can’t sit at the dressing table to dry your hair as there’s no mirror), the room is modern with a large bed and really nice shower room. Our only issue with the hotel was that we stayed 3 nights and on the first night there was a wedding, with load music and on our last night there was a fashion show, with load music, that took over the hotel. So you might like to check what’s happening when you plan to stay.

Dear travellertonym, Thank you indeed for taking the time to relay your detailed and feedback of your recent stay with us. We are so thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and so happy to learn that you highlighted the charms of Plantation . We are also glad to hear that our centrally located serves you well. Since the beginning of our hotel in December 2011, together with art community in Phnom Penh we staged local arts in our Lotus Gallery on average once in every two months. Plantation hotel dedicated this space to support local community through arts staging. We are so happy to see that now there are many young artists they’re passionate, committed and bold in their pursuit of their dreams and become the leading artists in Cambodia and have recognized and exhibited in many part of the world representing Cambodia. We all hope that you will be able to come back and stay with us in the near future. Kind Regards, Adi Jaya General Manager

Stayed in a small suite of the hotel at the ground floor which faces a small private garden with lots of trees and vegetation. At about US100 per night this hotel is great value for money. There is a sizeable pool at the centre of the hotel which offers plenty of space to hang out and relax. Food of the hotel is surprisingly good. Although the suite is moderately fitted out (which one expects for a US100 per night stay including breakfast), the suite is spacious and airy with a large day-bed overlooking the small private garden.

A beautiful holiday escape in Phnom Penh. Could have not chosen a better hotel in the capital, very attentive to details and service is on point. The hotel is situated at a beautiful location (middle of the city) surrounded by lush plants and foilage resulting in an intimate and quiet setting. Our room was comfortable and we loved the sense of privacy created by the layout. Beautiful grounds, delicious food and super friendly staff, what more can you ask!?
Can't wait to go back, see you soon!

I kinda want to keep this hotel a secret because it really is the best one in Phnom Penh. The front desk especially work extra hard to accommodate their guests from calling to see if the medical center was open for the covid-19 tests or getting you a tuktuk that won't rip you off. This hotel has a lot of natural beauty. They kept the plants and vegetation well watered. The pool was never cold, I traveled with my 4 year old and mom and we all enjoyed our stay. I would reccommend paying extra for the ground deluxe plunge pool it was very close to the pool and eating area.
I had an incident where another guests put their drinks and food in my room but the front desk stayed professional, did an investigation. I told them to look at the signature in my spa bill which didn't match the signature of the food and drinks bill.

We were in transit so only stayed for one evening. Our room was small at at the back of the Hotel with very little light, I wasn’t bothered for 24 hours but any longer might have been an issue. We didn’t have time to venture outside as we had already been in town a few weeks ago but seemed to be close to a few shops. There are two pool areas, one was completely overrun with people and the other had no sun when we were there and was full of leaves. It was all a bit untidy with wet towels and beer bottles aplenty. We ate at The Pagoda which was good but pricey and breakfast was OK. It just all felt a bit busy, noisy, dusty and in need of a decent clean. The staff upstairs were great, as were the front desk but those around the pool were more indifferent as the day went by. Only my opinion based on a 24 hour stay and am clearly in the minority when I see other reviews.

Dear satanbug, Thank you very much for taking the time to stay with us and for your feedback about your recent stay at Plantation - urban resort and spa. I am very pleased to hear that all of the team looked after you so well and I know that you enjoyed the dinner at La Pergola, however I was sorry to read that the pool areas was not tidy and crowded. During this holiday seasons yes indeed most of our guests are spending their times around the pool area and as you mention they do not go venture the city that much , especially in the day time. As for leaves, in tropical country like Cambodia there are only few trees shed their leaves, for us here at Plantation, it is the Sea-Almond trees, it normally happens end of December to end of January. We have 3 of these big trees in the hotel. Although the gardening team sweep the ground so many times everyday, the trees seems always came out to be the winner. Rest assured your feedback has been conveyed earlier today and we will turn it into actions. When you return to Phnom Penh, book a deluxe poolside garden room or a deluxe studio, they are large and very airy. Thank you once again and we wish you a pleasant onward journey and a happy new year. Sincerely, Adi Jaya General Manager

Possibly one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at in my life and I travel a lot. I’ve experienced a lot of hotels. The pool area is very tropical with lots of mature plants and trees. The water temperature is perfect. Great cabanas on the edge of the pool and plenty of them. The food at the restaurant is great. Plus I love the lighting in the restaurant at night. In fact the lighting is well thought out throughout the hotel and in the rooms, creating ambience and mood. It’s something that’s so often overlooked in hotels. The room itself is a reasonable size with a very comfortable bed, fridge, tv, AC, god water pressure and hot water, lots of nice little touches in the rooms. Pretty cushions, free water, toiletries, flowers. I also loved the day bed for reading. I had a balcony overlooking the pool on the second level. It was peaceful and all
I could hear was bird song. The staff are smiley and attentive. The location is perfect. Yet despite its central location it’s so peaceful. When you come in off the street and walk passed the Koi carp pond you feel as if your walking into another world. It’s as if the sound even from the street gets turned down, even the air smells differently here which I’m assuming is due to all the plants. The price is competitive and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the place highly. I will be returning in December and will definitely be back.
Also don’t miss a deep tissue massage at the spa with Bopa , it’s one of the best I’ve ever had. Just book it!

Seems so Sharon: they are still referenced on MAADS Website (maads.asia/destinations at the bottom of the page).
It’s $14 from the airport to the hotel well worth it after a flight . The hotel will arrange it for you just email them they are extremely helpful.
Hi there, no there is no inter connecting room, however, the Rooftop Suite has a master bed and a living room where in the living room there are two day beds that can be turned into a sleeping beds
Hi Trudy, you booked one of the lowest room category, your room does not have a view except to a small garden. Please book a deluxe pool view, or a deluxe poolside garden
Hi Anne,
I believe all hotel managers will join me to say that it is not true. In our situation we put our net rate in our website (the whole rate) at Online Travel Agencies (OTA) the first you see are most likely subject to, taxes and service charge, so it is appear cheaper until you click the pay button.
Also many people often compare different room inclusions, with or without breakfast and other amenities. Hotel and OTAs sign agreements where we do not sell rooms lower than the agreed rates.
OTAs team are expert in making it appears cheaper, through exchange rates, and other elements, than other OTA rates and the hotel's rate. It is their day today and minute by minute tasks to make it look the cheapest of all.
Many thanks,
Adi Jaya,
General Manager,
Plantation - urban resort & spa.
