The a/c was cold and quiet. No problem sleeping through the night with it on. Considering it was almost 40 degrees outside, that was very important!
The photos on the website are exactly what you get, which is important because some hotels in Vietnam show photos from a long time ago when the room was new, but when you get there the room is old. With Scarlett Hotel the photos are really accurate.
The staff here are incredibly nice. Always ready to help with any request, whether it was for ice, local recommendations, sending our clothes to the laundry... anything. They even brought us a couple of little chairs for the balcony so we could sit outside and enjoy the sunset (which is on the balcony side of the hotel).
The hotel itself is in the perfect location. We could walk to the local market across the river, the Old Quarter is right next to the hotel, which is jam packed with a ton of restaurants and clubs (by the way, go eat at DMZ Restaurant in the Old Quarter -- easily the best seafood platter we had in Vietnam), and there is a shop right next to the hotel where you can buy things like wine (we found a really good, really cheap Vietnamese red wine there... what a discovery!), beer, liquor, foodstuffs, snacks, and pharmacy products.
The hotel is on a main road, but tucked back into a little alleyway, so you don't get any street noise. Very easy to get a taxi though. There's also a TP Bank right on the nearby corner, which is the best place for foreigners to get money from an ATM in Vietnam (no transaction fees on the Vietnam side!). You can't beat this hotel's location!
We ate breakfast at the hotel every day. It is prepared fresh on ordering, and they also have buffet items that are plentiful and always fresh. We ate the Hue noodles almost every day because they were delicious. We also tried eggs with croissants, fruits, and fresh juice one morning. Also excellent. Prices for the breakfast were very reasonable (we booked the rooms without breakfast included).
When checking out on the last day the staff gave us a very, very nice surprise. I won't tell you what it is because I don't know if they do this for everyone, but I'll say it was completely unexpected, VERY kind, and really demonstrated what we already knew by that point: This hotel is lovely, the staff are amazing, and if we ever come back to Hue, there is no doubt we'll be staying there again!
Thank you Scarlett Hotel!
She was so welcoming, immediately rushing out to open the door the moment my wife and I was in sight. At the reception we were served a welcome drink during registration. We were totally bowled over by her reception.
Ms. Thien again displayed her impeccable customer service when due to a miscommunication, an additional breakfast charge was billed to our hotel bill which I didn't notice until we were well on our journey to Danang.
As we had trouble contacting the hotel with our mobile, we engaged the assistance of the reception at the hotel that we stayed in Danang to assist us.
Coincidentally, Ms. Thien answered the call and according to my wife, she kept apologising for the error and the matter was subsequently resolved very quickly. The refund was made to us through the hotel in Danang on the very same night. We were really impressed by the speed the matter was resolved together with the refund. Thumbs up to Ms. Thien and The Scarlett Boutique Hotel for exceptional customer service.
The hotel is well located within walking distance of Perfume River, Hue Imperial Palace and the entertainment and food & beverage hub without the crowds and noise.
The room we stayed in, The Rhett Room, was spacious enough for 2 persons, the decor was very beautiful and pleasing, the bed very comfortable, the room very clean and the bathroom very well stocked with essentials beautifully packed and even has a vanity mirror. Water pressure is strong and for those who loves hot showers, you will not be disappointed.
There was a complimentary fruits platter for our 2 nights stay at the hotel which we really appreciate. We later found out that this was the only hotel that provided a complimentary fruits platter out of the 3 hotels that we stayed in during our visit to Vietnam.
We had breakfast at the hotel on the morning of our departure and the food was really delicious.
Disliked · There was absolutely nothing not to like of the hotel.
Hidden in an alley way that creates a quaint house and deadens the street noise .
Great to see something above the normal .
Hidden in an alley, it is somewhat dark on the lower floors. The suites have big vindows and balconies. Wellappointed with OK beds and great pillows, the rooms get a bit humid and cool. This is easily fixed by getting staff to change A/C to warm.
Shower runs plenty of hot water.
Breakfast is good enough with fruits, yoghurt and an well cooked á la carte selection.
Staff are kind and helpfuland will help arrange airporttransfers and tours of the tombs and imperial city
Restaurants and the shoppingstreet is around the corner.
5 minute walk from the hotel is the big and well ewuipped Olympic fitness gym, where you can buy a daypass
