The Hotel Majestic Saigon garners praise for its historic elegance and central location, which guests love for its close proximity to local attractions. While the hotel's service is often highlighted for staff friendliness and efficiency, the noise level due to poor soundproofing has been a concern for many.
Travelers delight in the vibrant colonial atmosphere and amenities like the serene pool and rooftop bar, although some feel that the pricing doesn't always match the experience. Despite this, the cleanliness and charm of the hotel continue to impress visitors.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is an oasis from an incredibly "bustling" city -- there are barriers put up by the front door so you aren't run over by the scooters that drive on sidewalks. The rooftop bar is featured in The Quiet American, and gives a nice panorama of the river and a city bursting at the seams. The rooms were very good size and seem quite stately. When we were there, the restaurant was closed at night for renovations. Breakfast is on the rooftop and quite nice. Staff was quite friendly.

The room was beautiful and nice view of the New year’s eve fireworks.
We stayed there for one week but did not feel welcomed as a valuable guest in many ways.
First, as soon as we arrived, we were asked to pay the bill after four days as they said “it’s a lot of money”. Sounded like they are very skeptical of our payment…They gave us a bill in the middle of our stay and when we visited the reception to pay, we were asked to pay all the bills after all. It is OK as we are going to pay anyways, but we did not feel very comfortable with their doubtful attitude.
Second, when we were guided to our room, it turned out the big chandelier in the bed room is out. It is after 8 pm and we were very tired after a long trip. The staff said they will arrange somebody and we had to wait there. The engineers came in, one after another. Finally four people. We just had to watch and wait. The problem did not seem to be solved quickly.. Made me crazy as we were tired, hungry and wanted to go out for dinner. The light should be checked in advance of the guests arrival.
Third, the e-mail communication went smoothly before the trip. However, while we were there, the communication with housekeeping staffs did not go well. Complimentary wine was prepared, but no wine opener was ready. The welcome fruits were prepared but only one plate/fork/knife was ready, so I left the memo to ask for one more plate for two of us, but the request was ignored. The second time, I even drew a picture of plates asking for two plates, but the request was ignored again. Instead, the fruits were taken away though we haven’t finished them. The empty basked was left there, and no fruits were refilled after. This has never been happened in other 5-stars hotel in other Asian countries.
Also, the flowers in the vase in the living room started to fall as they got older during our stay, which was not cleaned until I asked them to. And then the flowers were taken away and nothing was refilled although we are still staying. We asked for the flower, but no action was taken after all. We felt it is very rude and sad. We liked the exterior of the hotel, but will not come back again.

We stayed here for New Year’s Eve as we were told it had the best view of the fireworks. The room was absolutely gorgeous and very big, we were really impressed. However I thought the pool and breakfast were average for a five star hotel. On arrival we were charged an extra £46 and when we queried it they wouldn’t give us a copy of the receipt. We finally worked out that this was a deposit that we would get back but it didn’t feel like five star service at that point! Although we very much enjoyed New Year’s Eve, at over £100 each the food was mediocre and the entertainment was poor with miming singers who were out of tune- it was like a Vietnamese Eurovision Song Contest! The drinks were generous (although they should be for the price!) but the wine was not drinkable and there was no tea or coffee. The buffet spread was clearly for westerners and it would have been much better if it was a spread of Vietnamese food instead as that’s what people want when they come travelling here. We waited on the roof top for the fireworks but actually could only see half of them and would have been much better off watching from our balcony. If you want to treat yourself we would recommend spending a night or two here but don’t pay for the expensive NYE party, just do your own from the balcony of your room.

The Hotel was built in the IndioChina era, and is mostly constructed of marble, it occupies a position on the Saigon river, so rooms have a part view of the interesting working river. The Bar situated on one of the higher floors and benefits from wonderful river views.
The room was not large but adequate with lots of hanging/storage space, and the bathroom with a full size bath and shower. Plenty of hot water, and toiletries.
The buffet breakfast was very good with a large range on international choices as well as a cooking station where the chef cooked eggs in any requested style
I celebrated my birthday whilst staying in the Majestic and the management staff presented me with a birthday card, birthday cake and a bowl of flowers, a really nice and friendly touch.
Some staff, had only a limited grasp of English so communication with them was difficult.
All in all the hotel and location could not be better, a really nice place to stay.

Rich in the lore of the writers foreign correspondents who stayed here. Rooms are richly finished with wood and tile. but a modern glass exterior is coming so classic facade will be going soon.
I had reserved a quiet inside room. When I checked in this turned out to be a room without an outside window, and only a small window into the corridor. I was able to get a room with an outside window--but it cost $35 more a night. I felt this to be deceptive.

This is a lovely and classic hotel which has been so beautifully restored. Great location, within walking distance to all the tourist sites. The daily breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed the restaurant views over the Saigon River and Ho Chi Minh City. Customer Service was very good also.
Our only disappointment was our room was on the ground floor, down the end of a corridor without much light and only had small window that overlooked a stairwell. However, it was quite large and clean and comfortable, I'm sure my rating would have been higher had we had a nicer room with some sort of view.

This is clearly a high class hotel with ornate plaster work and painted ceilings. The reception hall just oozes opulence and colonial extravagance. The location is fantastic and provides beautiful views of the river from the roof top bar and restaurant, which provides good quality food with plenty of options. However, whilst the facade is somewhat breathtaking, the interior is not so much. This hotel has seen better days and once you look closely, you see the peeling wallpaper, damp stains and notice the musty smell of damp that prevails along the corridors and rooms. We decided to go luxury and booked a Colonial suite in the classic wing. Aside from the dated look, the main concern was the street noise. The windows are far from soundproof and the honking of motorbike horns and drone of their engines goes on well into the early hours. On a final positive note, the staff at this hotel nearly make up for the shortcomings with their professionalism and attitude. A happy smiling face and offer to assist was never far away.

Dating back to 1925, Hotel Majestic sits at the corner of Rue Catinat (now Dong Khoi St) and Quai de Belgique (Ton Duc Thang St) which runs along the river, and Hotel Majestic is considered to be a Ho Chi Minh city landmark. the Majestic has a good deal of French colonial charm remaining ,head up to the ninth floor restaurant and rooftop bar for a grand view of the river. On a number of visits to Ho Chi Minh city I stayed in rooms in the old building and am smitten with the original parquet flooring .Rooms are spacious yet manage to feel cozy and comfortable. The full marble bathrooms are over the top and appears like new. There’s a TV, minibar, kettle, in-room safe and WiFi. Rooms along Ton Duc Thang boast river views, which I always request. I found the staff to be courteous and professional. A real treat is breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the river. When I stay I feel like I’ve walked into a 1930s Glamour Movie. A beautiful authentic slice of Ho Chi Minh city !

We visited Ho Chi Minh city on a cruse ship that was docked for 2 nights at a considerable distance from the downtown. Instead of commuting on a shuttle bus we decided to stay in for 2 nights at Hotel Majestic. The Hotel build in early 1920s still has its colonial era charm. Breakfast was very good as well as Mbar cafe where we enjoyed best Pho we ever tried on the patio overlooking Saigon river. Massage in the spa was great and very reasonably priced. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately our visit fell on Lunar New year and many places we wanted to visit were closed. Streets were crowded will (literally) millions of scooters and air was completely polluted. That prompted us to return back to the cruise ship earlier than planned.
