I am currently staying in this hotel , enjoying the pool and sun deck so I decided to write a quick review before we move on tomorrow . This hotel is fantastic with mostly positives and a few negatives . The positives (in no particular order) The staff are so friendly and helpful . Especially at front desk The food is great - breakfast and afternoon tea included for us The foyer is stunning and very well maintained The rooms a spacious and immaculately clean with everything you could need including toothbrushes, body washes shampoo , conditioner etc . There is a safe, robes an iron and ironing board and also hair dryer . The pool and bar on 10th floor are fantastic. Perfect for cooling off in this humidity in HCMC The location is perfect , close to all the attractions in HCMC , you can walk everywhere from here . It’s right beside the Bitexco tower . The negatives Our room 207 overlooks the back of the hotel and the view is not pleasant at all , we keep the curtains closed . It’s not a big deal as we are out all day but we did ask prior to arriving if we could have a nice room/view as we are celebrating our 25 anniversary. The corridors walls and carpets are a little dated and could do with some TLC but again not a big deal and wouldn’t put me off the hotel. I would most definitely stay here again but would ask for a higher up floor next time…
Fantastic location close to many of the main tourist spots. Breakfast options were good and the afternoon tea on the rooftop each day was a lovely touch. Rooftop pool was good and there was an abundance of towels available for guest use. Reception staff were extremely friendly. Would recommend. Excellent value for money.
Currently staying here. On arrival it was nice and impressive. Great location. We booked a room that according to the pics had a shower on the balcony and also said had city views. Our room has neither. Was willing to let this slide as the room itself was nice although the shower leaks onto the floor. For a 4 star property we were very unimpressed with the breakfast. A Tuvalu quote disappointed. The toaster didn’t work properly, no cups for coffee, the hot food looked like last nights left overs and there was only two types of fruit. Green apple looking things. Maybe it was a busy period but thought they would have been better. Have stayed in hotels half the price with 100% better breakfast. On a positive it’s clean and the pool is cool and not warm.
You will definitely be in great hands during your stay at the Au Lac Charner Hotel while visiting Saigon. The head manager Henry is very helpful with providing insights on where to go and how to make your trip and stay very much enjoyable and memorable. Natasha, who is head of breakfast makes herself available every morning explain different dishes and makes great recommendations that makes the breakfast buffet something to look forward to every morning. And Linh and her staff do a great job with keeping the rooms tidy and providing the complementary same day laundry service very convenient. Tea time on the rooftop at 2:30 is very fun and entertaining as well. You are less than a five minute walk from the walking street which is a must see on the weekends and has tons of eateries, shops, coffee shops, and restaurants to try. I highly recommend staying at the Au Lac Charner Hotel.…
Stayed for 2 nights with my daughter for a short visit in HCM. Staffs were very accommodating & helpful too. Loved the food items during breakfast & tea break. Lots of varieties. Very inviting lobby. Got pool @ the rooftop. Centralised location. A lot of food establishments around the vicinity.
The location of the restaurant was prime with saigon centre, ben thanh matket and various attractions nearby. However the facilities are quite old and the reception staff were quite inflexible. Our rooms were arranged on different floors despite being booked together one month in advance & the only solution provided was for us to pay more to upgrade 1 of the rooms. Overall, it'll be a comfortable stay for short stay travellers who do not require much hotel services
I (18) stayed here with my father (50) and brother (12) for 3 nights- our first time in Vietnam. This hotel is in a great location and there are multiple street food options in the same street for if you get hungry. While some hotel staff may lack in English, they make up for in friendliness. The rooftop pool has nice views and the barman (Mr Stick) was very friendly and made great drinks. He recommended a local bar for me to visit while my family went to sleep, which was a great experience. The buffet breakfast has many options- fresh fruit, stir fry, rice, juice, cereal and a chef making omelettes and eggs to order. The Afternoon tea was tasty but not very filling- there was a selection of cupcakes and fruit. The hotel facilities and the room were very clean. I would come back here if I visit Saigon again.…
Plus: location, friendly staff, nice breakfast, afternoon tea. Cons: 1) The massage is a rip off. Once I paid at the end, I was proactively asked to leave a tip - and once I did that (approx 10%), I was told that "it's not enough". The receptionist of the spa added that in fact the price you see on the menu is actually only the 'ticket' for the hotel and it doesn't really go to the massage therapist. I pointed out that this info should be clearly displayed in the menu, at which point I was showed a separate menu, kept in a notebook (and different from the one displayed for guests) where it was written "tip is not included". Which in any case is not really the same thing than saying that "the price of the massage is not included". 2) I stayed at the hotel for nearly a month and when I asked if I could have a late check out on the last day I was asked to pay 20% of the daily rate. I appreciate this doesn't depend on the staff of the hotel, but a bit of flexibility would be reasonable with a client paying almost for a month of stay.…
My wife and I spent an excellent three nights in Au Luc Charner. I highly recommend paying a little extra for the Bernard Suite with the balcony tubs. What an unparalleled view of the city! Otherwise, the pool was excellent, drinks on point, and breakfeast was jaw dropping. Our concierge, Vy, was an incredible help in arranging tours and tricky PCR tests.
Hotel located near Sky Deck. We had a Junior Suite which has a shower on the balcony which was fine. Bath located in bedroom area. Room was spacious and nicely decorated. Adequate seating provided. High te served daily to guests in beautiful room on rooftop. Breakfast served in beautiful room on ground floor. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to make use of the rooftop pool. Many restaurants and bars in area. Staff were very helpful and professional. Will definitely stay there again.
