Nights stayed: 2 Hotel: Nice old school 1930s vibe Room: Clean and comfortable but no windows! Wi-Fi: Terrible, constant drops and made it extremely difficult to work. I was on the 5th floor and my friend in the 2nd floor said his was ok. Service: Responsive and friendly Rooftop bar: Maybe it’s still slow to start because of COVID but pretty lackluster Overall, a decent place to stay on a budget but if you want to work, go somewhere else.
In August 2018 I spent four nights in Grand Silverland hotel in Saigon and to be honest I have deeply regretted that I had actually went there... 1. First they offered me a room with no windows even thou description of the room which I had previously booked did not mention that and all 5 days I had to stay in that windowless room since no change or upgrade was offered to me. 2. Due to business issue I had to prolong my stay in Vietnam for three nights but Silverland rejected my request and after four nights I had to move to another hotel. And it is quite uncomfortable to change hotels in the middle of trip. 3. During check out and I have found that quite and cozy hotel Alagon d'Antique
We found this hotel on AGODA and chose it as it seemed good value for money and is in a very good location , close to everything . We stayed for 7 nights initially , then came back and stayed there for another 3 nights before flying back home . I find that all the staffs at the hotel are very nice and always helpful . The staffs at the front are very attentive to the guests needs . I was impress with their willingness to help that i remember a few names , such as Binh and Quan . Amazingly , Quan seems to be there 24/7 !! He is attentive , helpful and always with a smile
We had a most enjoyable time, the hotel was welcoming, well located and value for money. I must especially acknowledge Quan who met us on our arrival, we had difficulty with our taxi fare, Quan helped resolve this amicably, and whenever he was on duty, he welcomed us back to the hotel with a friendly smile that made us feel at home and part of the Alagon family, many thanks, Chris and Veronica
It's sort of hard to review this hotel as I booked a room here but was given a room in an adjoining sister Hotel. As others have noted the Alagon complex seems to be 3-4 different hotels connected by the lobby and the shared rooftop. I booked a Family room, which was the only that seemed available to sleep 3 people. (2 double beds). What i learn now is the "old wing" really just means a room in one of the lesser Alagon hotels, not the D'Antique (Alagon City i believe). As such the room was significantly dated, lower quality bedding and amenities. The shower was strange also as it was jet tub with a shower head and no curtain. So it was impossible to shower without getting water all over the floor. I was only here one night, so the location was perfect for the stay however. The staff was also fantastic, providing luggage help and calling transportation for us. We didnt really make use of the rooftop, but it didn't seem to crowded while we were there. Great views from up there, and a nice place to have a beer at night and take in the sights.…
The hotel is centrally located in district 1. The room was big and clean, comfortable bed and pillows. I think the hotel is still suffering from aftermath of Covid, not that many guests so not everything is smooth. Check in Check out both very fast and efficient. Hotel bar was still closed but plenty entertainment nearby. Breakfast could do with improvement, no buffet yet but helpful staff.
Honestly, this hotel is not a fancy one. However, you will find it is very Vietnamese when staying in this hotel. People here are so nice. They are very very friendly. I am treated like a family member of theirs, especially from counter staff. Moreover, I would like to send my warmest thanks to Mr. Manager with a big tattoo on his right hand. He gave me a perfect guide tour for us around the City. I hope you guys will keep this spirit forever. Thank you
Spotlights * Convenient Location to Anywhere Popular in Saigon * Various Restaurants & Shops of All Kinds in Walking Distance * Ben Thanh Market Area just within 7min Walk * Retro Romantic Decor * Beautiful Rooftop Swimming Pool Area * Huge Bathtub for Total Relaxation * Friendly & Helpful Staff Pity * The Door Soundproof was quite weak. I could hear the other residents coming in/out with doors shutting sounds and talking in the hallway. * Not into the scent of the toiletries (from Shampoo to Body Lotion): they smelled like vegetables. Was happy to start with then things went downhill. The room was OK but very small. Shower flooded all over the floor. Had a venture around the hotel. The pool was small then realised this was used by the other hotel as well. So it got packed very quickly and no room just to relax. Breakfast first day was good then the next days we had to go next door for breakfast which was very disappointing. Only 1 lift so had to wait ages to go up to room or come down. Some staff were friendly others not.
We were moved here after the sister hotel closed, but the move was good as this was in a great location for our sight seeing. We did not use the swimming pool or spa. When we went up there there we had no idea where all the people came from, but apparently it was from other hotels in the chain - which was bit odd. We also did not like the amount of smoking there, it’s something we’re not used to any more. Our room was very comfortable- another great bed, which meant a great night’s sleep. Despite all the difficulties caused by Covid 19 the hotel produced a good breakfast every morning. The location of this hotel is particularly good, within easy walking distance of many of the main attractions. The staff were always helpful, special mention to Dung who was always friendly.
