This small boutique hotel is great! Yes, the bedrooms are basic (and the breakfasts rather limited) but overall we thought it was great. They are clean and comfortable and the linen was of exceptional quality. The setting next to the river was lovely and the gardens around the hotel even lovelier. The staff were friendly and efficient. We were able...

The Riverview was a breath of fresh air. Very beautiful setting with such an interesting garden. Very Thai. Open and airy, each room has a balcony. Ask to overlook the river. Four of us stayed and all of us fell in love with the Riverview. No tv or hair dryer, but who cares? Too many other things to do. Don't...

After reading the various Trip Advisor reviews of the Riverview Lodge, we checked in and were looking forward to a relaxing stay in what was supposed to have been a well run and tidy hotel. Unfortunately a lot must have happened since the first Riverview Lodge reviews in 2005. Not only did the rooms smell terrible (we think they must...

I have to wonder if some of the contributors who provided such poor feedback for River View Lodge are referring to the same hotel as we stayed in. Our own impression was one of complete charm. The price we paid for our room which was more than adequate was very reasonable considering we were in an important tourist city and...

My husband, daughter & I stayed at the River View Hotel for one week out of our month long trip to Thailand in May/05 & we thoroughly enjoyed it. What a beautiful, quaint hotel!! The rooms were air conditioned, very clean & comfortable, the gardens were absolutely beautiful & serene, the pool was wonderful & a welcome relief from the...

I'd have to agree with some of the other reviews about the River View Lodge - the grounds and the setting are very nice, and it's in a good location near the river. But the rooms are very basic - much more basic than we expected given that it's a mid-priced hotel for Chiang Mai. Like other reviewers, we stayed...

The title of this review almost says it all. The hotel setting is off the main street so it is fairly quiet. Coupled with the lovely garden and pool area, the place feels quite serene. This hotel is located outside the Old City and is a 5 minute walk to the Night Bazaar and restaurants, making it very convenient. The...

Wow-- River View Lodge exceeded all of our expectations! In reading other recent reviews, I can't believe that we stayed at the same beautiful, hospitable and very clean hotel. During our 2-week trip to Thailand over Christmas & New Year's, we enjoyed our 5 nights at River View more than any other hotel. The owners have a winning recipe here...

We stayed at the River View Lodge for two days in November, 2005 and were very disappointed. The bathroom grout was covered in mildew and the shower curtain was downright filthy. The hallways were cluttered with old magazines and water-stained potted plants. To make matters worse, the service was just as bad. We had to store our luggage there for...

Have you ever visited your senile, grouchy, great aunt? The one who wasn't very friendly, and never cleaned? Had mildewed magazines from 1983 stacked to the ceiling and dirty potted plants everywhere? And probably had 6 cats? You never wanted to touch anything in her house, or eat her cooking, because it was... well... scary. And she really needed a...
