Great boutique lanna style hotel. Peaceful hidden place. Location is great, just a walking steps to Thapae gate. Friendly and courteous staff, always gave a good recommendation. However, no plenty choices of breakfast and taste was normal. Room was small but beautiful decorated in wooden style.
I don't even know where to begin. My partner and I came to Chiang Mai after visiting Bangkok and the very first day we were greeted with cooled towels and fresh iced tea, which was a welcome reprieve from the heat. We loved Tamarind village so much that on our first day we extended our stay, to which the staff were so accommodating. Everyone is so incredibly friendly, they truly embody the hospitality of the people of Chiang Mai. Honestly, the staff's English is far beyond that of the 5 star hotels we stayed in within Bangkok. The azure tiled pool makes an exquisite photo op, and don't pass up on Keke's tour of the local shrines, he is absolutely delightful in his humor and knowledge! The spa offers multiple aromatic oils for well appointed massage therapy, and the best part of all is the open commune with nature. Birds, bugs and felines are free to roam around the area and the Ancient Tamarind tree at the soul of the grounds. We have already decided that we will be back, and when we come, it will be to Tamarind village! And if you like insanely spicy, as I do, ask for extra Prikh with your meals!…
This place was beautiful. It was purely calming and had a zen ambience. We loved the 200 years old tamarind tree in the foyer; the staff at the hotel were very professional and took care of every minor detail. It was in the heart of old city with lovely restaurants nearby.
I stayed here on my honeymoon and this boutique style hotel was the best place we stayed. The room was clean and of high quality. The pool and pool side service was fantastic and the spa was a must visit. The location is very central so only a 15-20 min walk was the maximum ot any desired location. Staff make the hotel and they were amazing.
It was great to be back there again. Always feel welcome with friendly staff, especially P' Candy. We do enjoyed the activities that hotel provided such as painting umbrella and a repeated Village walk again with Khun Thana. Thank you Phêung and all other staffs for your hospitality and service. Looking forward to our next visit :)
Whenever I think of past trips, I think of Tamarind Village as the place I would love to go again because I loved loved my stay there so much. It truly is such an amazing place to enjoy meals and for relaxation. I love the rooms as they are so classical but simple, love the details of the postcards to the bathrooms to the robes. Also love the buffet breakfasts full of wonderful fruits and choices. I love the shop in the front always full of beautiful hand crafts.
There is no doubt that Tamarind Village is a very pleasant oasis located in the old city of Chiang Mai. The hotel has bags of charm and a serene atmosphere. They are now running a "pay 1 night, stay 2 nights" special, so the price also seems reasonable. We stayed in a suite for 4 nights at 4,850 Bt/night. The first room we visited, located on the 1st floor, comprised a tiny living area, a small bedroom reached by climbing some stairs and a very uncomfortable bathroom, also requiring descending some steps. The ceiling was very low, meaning that anyone taller than 1 metre 85 cm would inevitably hit their head. Fortunately, we moved to a spacious room on the ground floor with high ceilings. The room was lovely and well appointed and definitely worth the money. We hosted a dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was surprisingly affordable and the food was delicious. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who needs somewhere quiet to relax after a day of sightseeing.…
Very central location. Wonderful pool. Staff were amazing, very helpful. Breakfast was served around the pool and contained everything you could ask for. Highly recommend for a stay in Chiang Mai. We stayed in January, during the week the hotel was quiet but got busier Friday.
Tamarind village is a great boutique hotel in heart of Chiangmai and best location ever for Sunday walking street, all staff friendly and excellent service, the room is Lanna cozy style beautiful and clean. Breakfast not too much but full quality and service and I recommend spa very nice
Funnily enough we stayed in the same room as the previous poster. Or rather we were moved to that room from a much smaller one on the first floor. We did not actually complain but having explained our disappointment at the first room the management upgraded us without being formally asked which was a big plus. The hotel is very quaint built Lanna style with an impressive tamarind tree in the courtyard. Breakfast was good if a little repetitive although we were there for 11 nights. Full marks go to the excellent reception staff. Only other niggle was that on the first 2 days the room was not cleaned until 6pm and 2.30 pm. TIP book a big room not the small ones
