Detailed Reviews
It's an old big hotel that has been partially restored and rebuilt. It's very big and it still has some old details from the past.
The lifts are not enough for all the rooms and customers that it can handle and sometimes you have to wait a long time to take one. Breakfast is not the best in the world but it's cheap.
You must take a tuk-tuk everywhere because it's far from the city center but it's worth staying here because it's cheap and because the rooms are so retro and vintage that you're going to love it. The AC and light controls may have come from the Star Trek series in the 1960s.

An old but interesting hotel. Nice rooms but a bit worn. We traveled during the low season at a very favorable price so it is unnecessary to complain
It's good. Can advise on taking moped taxis or taxis via the apps Bolt or Grab
Massages are cheap in the temple areas

The property is huge if not humongous. Has a old charm to it, staff are polite and efficient, pool is large and clean. Rooms are very large with great view. Toiletries provided are not of good quality though the bathroom was in good shape. Decor was classic and has a sense of grandeur to it. My room was clean and so was the bed. I personally prefer classic/vintage over modern hence liked the place a lot.
Location is nice as well with the city centre within walking distance.

Everything in this hotel is about money.
The staff at the reception has very poor communication, service and hospitality skills. Almost all of them are always looking down in their computer or papers. They should be looking at the faces of the customers smile, say "good morning or hi" and ask "how can I help you? When one asks a question, they never have a positive answer or good answer. Well, it starts from the manager, I guess she is the manager (black very short hair) because they always refer to her for any question.
Not a bottle of complimentary water to drink in the room. Every hotel has 2 everyday.
Do not tell the customer, "we don't lend iron to guests, put your pants in the bag and it will be ironed for a fee” This hotel should have an ironing room if they cannot lend an iron to any customer.
On my tour pick-up I was told, "if you want to make a call, you have to pay 20 baht, it is not free." A big hotel should have a concierge who can provide local call service.
Food in the buffet restaurant is very poor! Same food everyday.

Staying in this hotel is an experience…
When you arrive, you kind of sense it, but not sure what is it and where it will go…
A ship-shaped interiors, the wooden decorations, the elevators and the whole setting brings you 50 years back in time. When you cross the entrance door It feels like you just took a time travel machine, and everything around you is stuck in time, fascinating and spooky. :)
The room we had was great, spacious, with the bedroom section and a small living room with a huge glass wall (yes, the widows are huge and rooms are very bright) we could see the Nimman neighbourhood and the Doi Suthep. We had a small “control board” next to the bed (like from the SiFi 80s movies :)) from which you could control the lights and the AC.
Just after our arrival, they spontaneously brought us some refreshments and fruits.
On our first day, we found out that the location was great. Nimman neighbourhood is just a shot walking distance. One of the best massage places is around the corner and many other services and interesting things are at your fingertips. Nearby check the massage place Varalee massage (take the appointment), the Third place coffe and make friends at Jack Lucy 22).
The Old city can be reached with a short walk or if you are in the center of the Old City a tuktuk ride will cost 150-200 baht.
We enjoyed very much our stay, also because it was old fashioned but with very kind staff. Everything is so unreal that looked like a fantasy movie scenic design.
Don’t get discouraged by surroundings as it’s a nice place for a pleasant stay in Chiang Mai.

Stalinist huge antique from the EarlyDays of Tourism. No exterior lighting in dodgy area at night. Naked male loitering outside. Difficult to access by walking even though close to the Old Town. Check in / out efficient. Every electric socket in the room worn smooth and useless be decades of use

The pictures shown for this hotel may have been taken years ago when the hotel was in its prime. The price was so low and that should tell you something.
It is a huge convention/tour group hotel attached to a ghost shopping complex. Very run down, dated, poorly maintained, dirty and eerie actually. No services, no restaurant, just a bar in a lobby that can offer a limited menu. sort of isolated from shops, restaurants and bars. The gym area has old machines and is shabby. The staff is NOT deliver the typical friendly and welcoming Thai service. The pool is very large and nice but the pool area is poorly maintained. The decking around the pool needs to be refinished, there are hardly any chaise longes to sit on and the ones they have are dirty, cheap plastic loungers.

I went to this hotel to use the pool on a sunny day to relax. I am backpacking and I like to treat myself now and then to a more luxurious hotel pool to wind down. I don't have a lot of good to say about this place other than the size of the pool. It's huge and seemed clean enough. However, they wouldn't allow us to use the WiFi because we weren't hotel guests. I paid to use the pool so I am still a paying guest. In this day and age it's absolutely pathetic not to give out a WiFi password, seriously?! The staff were miserable and de motivated. There were about 6 plastic loungers and all the rest were just chairs so I couldn't actually even lay down as people had claimed all the loungers with their towels. The place is really dated and run down and clearly trying to claw back on money. Needs a revamp and some new staff! If I was staying here I would definitely move it's not a nice environment at all.

Hotel is located in a really good location not far from anything and quite secluded
The hotel itself though is stuck in 70s very very old and HUGE! Bedroom is very dated but relatively clean bathroom hasn't been upgraded since the hotel was built very very dated and old and worn
Swimming pool on the 7th floor was clean and very very big plenty of room!
Breakfast was pretty average not a lot of variety but did the job dinner on the hand was really poor nobody else in the restaurant not a lot of variety again was very disappointed considering it cost 600baht for the two of us
All in all budget hotel you get what you pay for wouldn't recommend to anyone else to stay here

With this Hotel you get what you pay for. Some of the reviews on this website have been unkind but quite honestly this is not an expensive hotel. The staff go out of their way to help you even though their English is not good. Our rooms were clean serviced and absolutely huge. The bathroom has a shower and a bath tub, the beds are huge and comfortable, and there is a huge dining area overlooking a view of the city which is in your room. Yes this hotel has seen its heyday and has a little bit of wear and tear, but it is very clean and spectacular to look at. Staff were very good and all amenities were very clean and tidy. I would stay here again.

Yes. It's expensive though.
I got my laundry done across Huaykaew Road at Ratchaphuek Alley, Tambon Chang Phueak.
Cost about 10% of price in hotel. Was laundered, ironed and beautifully folded.
It's always nice to put money into the local economy rather than a big hotel's pocket.
It's outdoor swimming pool with normal temporature.
W not notice as we were not carrying any valuables.
Tu dois aller dans la ville à des magasins d'excursions pour les visites
