I´ve booked this hostel because of the reasonable reviews that I have read about it. But I believe these reviews were old because the reality is totally the opposite. Although it´s cheap, I was expecting some level of comfort and cleanliness. Bed linens don´t seem to be changed ever, blanket and towel provided were extremely wear and I doubted they... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in a private double room. The hostel in general and especially the room we stayed in were extremely filthy and disgusting. The floor and table in the room had bird feces on it, the windows were covered in filth and didn't close properly. The shared bathroom covered the entire floor and was only one toilet... More

This place has great reviews so it's possible that my experience was an outlier. Booked a bed in the 6 room dorm, room was a little small for 3 bunks but it's a hostel so I don't expect much space. The walls were dirty, after taking a nap in my bed I glanced at my red blanket which appeared to... More

Was after a cheap bed after commuting back from out of the city and before a morning onward flight to the south. Lucked out and got an 8 bed dorm to myself for £3 although i didn't know that would be the case. I'd consider it again as a cheap place to lay my head but there are more comfortable... More

Positives: location, friendly staff, let us check in early Negatives: extremely dirty, showers looked like they haven't been cleaned, beds had clearly been slept in and not changed or even checked (friends bed had dirty boxers and socks on it!), dirty sheets

Backpack house is very enjoyable. The hospitality is for one is the best I've seen so far. Family business, they treat you like their own. Good food, nice sleeping quarters for the amount you pay for. Doors lock and lockers under the beds. Bathrooms are what is to be expected but still tolerable. Next time I come back to Chiangmai... This is definitely a pay for what you get situation. Yes it is cheap but you still expect some level of comfort. Positives; good for those on a budget, central for access to the old town, lockable drawer provided to store personal items (this wouldn't stop someone if they wanted to get in the drawer) Not so good; communal areas... This was my second time coming to Chiang Mai and my second time staying at the backpack house. Both times I loved it. The family that runs it is amazing. They are warm and caring, and extremely helpful. They set up every event we went on for us, including transportation. They went so far as to personally drive us to... More

At such a cheap price you get a comfy bed and great hospitality! The owners are so friendly and helpful it really made my stay. The hostel is in a good location next to the Old City and just minutes walk from shops and restaurants. There is no air con in the dorms however there are fans.

This has been the absolutely best hostel I have stayed in on my Thailand trip! This is off course a budget stay. This is made for backpackers. So don't expect a 5 star hotel. What you get is the nicest host with his family! I had a such a wonderful time just sitting in the hostel and talking to John... More
