This hotel is located in downtown Chiang Mai, within walking distance to Wat Phra Singh, Tha Phae Walking Street and many other famous temples. The attractiveness of this hotel is the elegant exterior in artistic Lanna Colonial style painted in white. It stands outstandingly on the main road. The hotel has many types of rooms and most of the rooms have a private swimming pool. It also has a huge outdoor swimming pool for all of the in-house guests and a very nice & charming restaurant named "Ghin". I stayed one night in the basic room type named “Bedroom” which has no private swimming pool. But it is quite pretty and comfortable, with a king-sized bed, a small sofa bed in the room, and a balcony where there is a bathtub and a little daybed outdoor, overlooking the scenery outside. What impresses me most at this hotel is the staff, esp at the restaurant. Also, the food and beverages, including the afternoon tea set and the breakfast, delight and impress me tremendously. The staff at the restaurant "Ghin" are extremely service-minded, active, friendly and helpful. And the food and beverages, including the afternoon tea set and the unlimited a la carte breakfast, are superb. Every dish is prepared, decorated and presented in a very attractive, creative and stylish way and it really tastes sumptuous. I would rate the restaurant staff together with the food and beverages at this hotel 5 stars! Eventhough you do not stay at this hotel, I would strongly recommend you visit this restaurant and have the food & the drinks here. They are truly exceptional. Next time, I will try the room with a private swimming pool (though it is quite pricey) and will share my experience with you all. I think it should be fantastic. 😊…
At first glance, I found the Hotel’s colonial style, with a twist of Lanna (Northern Thailand) decorative stencil and architecture, uniquely attractive. Centrally located in the city center, you can walk to nearby attractions, Wat Phra Singh (a Buddhist temple) (6 min), Chiang Mai Historical Center (14 min), Chiang Mai Gate (13 min), Lanna Folklife Museum (16 min), Wat Chedi Luang (11 min), Tha Phae Walking Street (17 min), and Nimman Promenade is just 3 km away. Upon arrival, we were politely welcomed by hotel staff. Not because they were trained to be so, it seems the hotel hired nice and friendly people here. They speak good English also. The staff named “Sun” is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Not only welcome drink, but also “daily afternoon tea” were inclusive of the room rate. The big bodhi tree, said to be almost 50 years old, takes the lead role on the stage, standing next to the lobby, keeping us close to nature. Here, the hotel was built around the tree, not the other way around. History has it that the Buddha has attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree, it is therefore known as “tree of awakening”. This hotel “The Inside House” is so named for good reasons, i.e. happiness comes from within/inside. An alarm clock is not needed, as such would be replaced by birds singing songs in the morning. If that’s not your cup of tea, no worries, ear plugs are also provided. The hotel pays close attention to small details. Flora decoration at lobby and dinning room is stunning, and it is kept that way daily. In a room, all things were kept clean and tidy. What I found here and not elsewhere (i.e., much value for money) comprises mouthwash, ear plugs, hair straightener (in addition to hair dryer), alcohol sanitizer spray (pocket size), much appreciated during this COVID-19. Also, restrooms in common area and in all private pool units are equipped with L’occitane hand wash, shower gel and shampoo. Other available items are equally provided as that of 5-stars hotels, e.g., plenty of AC power sockets in the room, including USB sockets at each of bed side, 4 types of pillows, e.g., ultra soft and buckwheat. Air flow vent grills were carefully hidden and placed in a position not to expose you to the direct air flow. Besides, thick wall offers quiet night, uninterrupted hot shower and comfy bed assure your good sleep quality. Attention to detail continues to books selection. Two books were provided in my room, not for decorative purpose, they served such purpose, though. One of them is the famous “The Little Book of Lykke : The Danish Search for the World's Happiest People”. What more could I want for reading during holidays? I assume there are other interesting books in other rooms as well. During breakfast, I observed some of those who stayed here just had quick breakfast and coffee. Even if you are not a fan of big breakfast, I would still encourage you to utilize the chance for food testing. Don’t waste this chance by asking for “two organic eggs any style”. Rather, try “Lanna Breakfast”, comprising, among other things, “Hang Lay Curry with Pork”, which I surprisingly very much prefer to the same dish of another Michelin restaurant in Chiangmai I had the day before. If you are after “fusion food”, try “Khao Soi and Egg Onsen” (Chiangmai egg noodle with creamy curry served with chicken egg onsen and condiment). No other place serves “Khao Soi” in this manner. What I love most is that all dishes here are MSG free. When it comes to food presentation, much modernization is added. All dishes are beautiful. The “Thai Pandanus Pudding” is not only yummy, but also very much attractive. Its unique, sweet aroma is known as the vanilla of the Asian region. Almost forget to mention vocal jazz music fits best the cozy atmosphere of the dining room. I also noticed the hotel staff named “Chai” provided good travelling advice to other non-Thai guests during breakfast. In general, all staff are friendly here. What I found to be lacking here is that there is no in-house spa. It would have been nicer had my stay was equipped with full body massage after a long day back from waterfalls nearby. I have just heard that the in-house spa (not named yet) will be opened in a couple of months, i.e., Q3 of 2022. Thus, not only this, but also considering nice and cold breezes towards the end of the year, I now have another good reason to revisit The Inside House. Car parking lots available, in addition to parking just in front of the hotel. Tips, if you are not into private pool units (the main pool already offers nice bodhi tree view), go for “Bodhi Bedrooms”, offering Inner Court view of the bodhi tree. With a semi-outdoor bathtub on a private balcony, happiness is already there.…
My daughter and I truly had the holiday of a lifetime at the stunning 'Inside House. We loved Chiang Mai as a destination for a 9-day holiday (the Old Town is lovely to explore on foot and lots of interesting tours outside the city are possible), but what made the visit extra, extra special was the warmth, kindness and friendliness of all the staff throughout the hotel. In the Land of Smiles, The Inside House has the biggest smile of all!. There are so many positives - the hotel is in an excellent location with all the major Chiang Mai sites walk-able, the property is stunningly beautiful, the rooms are wonderfully spacious and comfortable (with baths and showers to die for!), there is a lovely, large swimming pool (as well as the smaller ones attached to many rooms) and the food is simply stunning - we booked through the hotel and got a great package with free afternoon tea and a delicious cocktail each day. We loved the two different rooms we stayed in, which were both amazing. The first was a Junior Suite with its own pool and the second was a room with a a balcony and a very large separate bathroom. There were so many lovely touches and unexpected extras, and all the housekeepers who were so friendly and made sure that our rooms were spotlessly clean and always looked perfect. The food at The Inside House is just exceptional - the range of options, quality of cooking and presentation of dishes at breakfast was sensational and we tried every option over our 9 mornings! We also had a lovely lunch and an amazing set dinner - the prawn soup and sea bass were our two favourite dishes over the entire trip. Not forgetting the amazing teas of course (we loved the sandwiches!). There are so many people to name check who contributed to our holiday of a lifetime. Oil was so helpful with all our booking enquiries both before and during our visit. The waiting staff in the restaurant are all so lovely - we wish we could remember all their names but every single one was so kind, attentive and friendly. Jimmy , Al, Fern and everyone else (with apologies in particular for forgetting the name of the lovely guy who often served us cocktails by the pool and always remembered my two tea bags at breakfast!). Finally. a huge thank you to the front of office team - from the lovely warm welcome we received from Pooh on arrival to the sandwiches and car journey on departure, we were always met with warm greetings and helpfulness. They arranged some incredible tours and we enjoyed some delicious meals based on their recommendation. Big and Annie were so kind, and my daughter wants Ammey as her sister - her humour, kindness and sweet nature were exceptional throughout. The whole team provided a level of service which we have never experienced at such a high level before. Truly a special holiday destination to which we very much hope to return!…
Thank you to all the services that made us have the happiest moments once again while we were at 'The Inside House'. : This property is one of the best in the forefront in Chiang Mai and all over Thailand. Especially in the details of service and customer care. : I highly recommend you to staying at ‘The Inside House’ when planning a vacation in Chiang Mai.
I don’t know that I can add much to what’s already been said about this hotel. You are welcomed as an honored guest. No detail is overlooked. There was wine, fruit and a handwritten note awaiting us when we arrived. There are fluffy slippers for inside, flip flops for out on the balcony. Stunning orchid arrangements wherever you turn, in your room and throughout the property. Communication before and during our stay was flawless. The huge breakfast and the afternoon tea were beyond generous and delicious. We were very sorry to leave.
The Inside House is in the heart of Chiang Mai. We walked to both the Saturday and Sunday night markets. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms with private pool were very special. The most outstanding part of this boutique hotel was the impeccable service.
From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure, this stay was fantastic. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, the rooms well appointed and comfortable (you could even choose from a pillow menu), and the soaking tub was so incredibly relaxing. The restaurant staff were always ready to accommodate and someone with dietary restrictions, the restaurant staff always remembered. The complimentary breakfast daily had everything under the sun you could want in addition to a lovely complimentary daily tea with delicious nibbles, plus a dinner that was delightful if you don’t want to go find somewhere to eat. While I didn’t get to lounge by the pool, it looked delightful. Just wish I had more time here!
Excellent service. Older hotel, but clean, Good breakfast. Plunge pool is very nice with warm water. Shower is big relaxing as is the big tub. The best part of the hotel is its location, which has a 7/11 near by as well as coffee shops and restaurant. The big temple, Wat Phra Singh, is the biggest baddest temple and a must see. Its a straight walk up from the Hotel. Other temples are within 1 15m walk. There is a mammoth night market on Saturday and one on Sunday-- both are less than 15min walk. Lots of different fold to try. We really liked the Sticky Mango Rice and the breads/pastries they make and use. Hotel is very calm and peaceful -- well worth staying at.
We stayed here for a week and this hotel deserves 6 stars in all senses. The room is very nice. It’s spacious and very well decorated. The staff is super friendly, we felt at home every moment of our stay. And the breakfast is beyond words. I traveled a lot, but never experienced a breakfast like this. It’s served by super friendly staff. Like I said, it’s not a breakfast, it’s an experience. And than there is happy our in the afternoon, which really makes you happy. Thank for making our stay a memory to nurture!!
Highly highly recommend. Absolutely great staff. The pictures do not justice!! It truly felt like an oasis, the whole hotel had a very zen feeling to it. On the days we had excursions, the staff would pack a hefty breakfast for me and my wife. Other hotels have provided a similar service but it was not nearly as large and tasty as The Inside House's.
