Very close to Chiang Mai Gate and virtually on top of Saturday walking street. This place really has everything you could possibly need. The owners are business-like but friendly with it - We are starting to make a habit of staying here for one month plus when we visit Thailand. We pay 10,000baht for the month including WiFi and an...

I've just stayed for a Month for the Fifth separate time. As usual it meets all my needs, Cheap, Clean, Secure and Friendly. I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews regards the Staff, they have always been more than helpful with me. I have nothing but pleasant memories of every trip, and Booked again already for November 2016. The...

Typical Thai style accommodation. Rooms quite lsrgezand very basic amenities. But ezcelkent value at only 4550 bht for a total of 7 nights. Restaurant small pool and gym. Mainly long term tourists stay here for low rates. Seems close to lots of sights which yet to explore. recommend for budget conscious looking for clean confortable accommodation

Very nice room, to an good price, the rooms are comfortable, good furnished, the Housceeping once a week is O.K. The reception stuff is friendly, specially Mrs. Kim. The pool is small, sometimes too small. The best is the situation, 150 meters to Chiang Mai Gate and you are in Old Town. And if you are like me a fan...

The property itself due to location receives high marks. You are near fantastic street markets as well as short walking distance to several temples. Quick tuk tuk ride to the airport. However, every single person who works there is so nasty, it takes away the good feelings. I believe smiles must cost 1000 baht because they were never seen and...

Thank you very much for your review. However, we would like to clarify our point of view as well. On the night that you asked for the towel, we remembered you were very angry that we did not provide the towel for FREE. Our room rent is only 650 baht per day and we also provide 2 sheets of towels...

I was in Chiang Mai in August and September and stayed at the Smith Residence again. For me, the three best features are, location, location and location. I have only stayed in the one bedroom units and have always enjoyed the space and the views these rooms afford. As always, the the staff (NOT THE MANAGEMENT) is polite, friendly and...

Stayed here for 2 weeks and liked the building, the quiet but still convenient location, the rooftop swimming pool with panoramic vieuw of the city ande the surrounding mountains, BUT HATED the cold white fluorescent light spoiling the otherwise pleasant room. What a blessing it would be if they installed more cosy light or at least change to warm white tubes.

The location is nice; close to the old city and to some nice restaurants and cafes. Our room itself was nice and quite clean with a small balcony. The security also seems okay. However we found the front desk staff to be very impolite and unpleasant to deal with. No concept of service-with-a-smile at this hotel; sometimes we found them...

Thank you very much for your review. Firstly, we would like to use this opportunity to apologize for any inconvenience you encountered during your stay. There was a major issue with the Internet system in Thailand during the month of September, which was due to severe damage caused to the undersea internet cable. This was a country-wide problem and led...

This is my second time I have stayed at Smith Residence. The location is convenient to the fresh market, Saturday and Sunday walking street markets, and three mini marts i.e. 7 ll and Tesco. The staff speak English and are consistently helpful. If you get a neighbor who comes home at 2am and slams the door, or plays his television...

“We've stayed in the "mountain view" rooms which have a splendid view of the sacred mountain behind the city, and we've stayed on the quieter "city view" side. One gives a close-up bird's eye view of the comings and goings of that part of the city, while the quiet side guarantees a good night's sleep and a gentle awakening. Either side is great. The upper floors give quick access to the gym and pool, the lower floors mean you can get to the cafe, bar or street rapidly. Depends on what you're wanting. ”

“Rooms to the east elevation of the building do not have a view but do not get exposed to direct sunlight. Because of this the rooms remain relatively cool, I did not turn on the air conditioning at all during my stay during January to March which is obviously a significant saving.”
