"Because I'm happy", the hit song by Pharrell Williams from the year 2013, was chosen by the X2 Chiang Mai Riverside Resort's staff to welcome the guests all together, from the General Manager to the Security Guard, dancing in a great video played in every room. And they give you the feeling that they really enjoy their work, they are so nice, good-humored and helpful. Our four-day stay in the X2 was extremely pleasant, even though its location is not suitable for walking. You have to fall back on the well functioning shuttle service of the hotel if you want to visit the oldtown for example.
There is a rich breakfast buffet in the in-house restaurant Oxygen (that is, by the way, awarded with a Michelin star), in a kind of big and bright winter garden in the park of the hotel. As an alternative to the starred restaurant, the hotel's café, where you can also eat very well, is also a good place for dinner. The roof terrace with its swimming pool and deckchairs where you can enjoy delicious cocktails is very pleasant as well.
Hotel and restaurant are easily accessible for wheelchair users, but the pool is less accessible. The roads in the area have, as in many places in Thailand, no pavements and are in a condition that does not make life easier for wheelchair users.

We spent 3 nights at the beautiful X2 in Chiang Mai, The hotel is ultra modern, sparkling clean with impeccable service. A top notch French chef oversees the restaurant and sends out delicious, beautifully prepared meals. The breakfast buffet was cancelled due to the CoVid 19 pandemic, so we had whatever we wished...which was terrific. The service was ultra-friendly and first class. The rooms were spacious and , very important to us in the heat of Chiang Mai in March, was the first rate air conditioning which kept us totally comfortable. A view of the Ping River from our balcony was delightful.
The staff could not have been kinder, often calling for cab service to local restaurants, etc. A special thank you to GM Ewan Taylor who would stop by at breakfast or the rooftop pool to chat with us and make sure our stay was enjoyable.
If you're going to Chiang Mai, do stay at X2...you won't be sorry.

A wonderful break in Chiang Mai was made perfect by the quality of facilities and service at this hotel. Nestled on the river with beautiful gardens in which breakfast was served, our room has a river view and an elegance of design which surpassed all other hotels on this trip ( including the overrated Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok). The service throughout was excellent, especially at checkin where a perfect cappuccino was served as we were told of special events to attend that night in the city - so attentive and so welcoming.

I have deleted my previous review as it was not complete when published.
Due to flight issues we needed to stay in Chaing Mai for one night.
On arrival c.10.00 our room was not ready but after saying good bye to the transfer people who brought us from the airport, had the welcome drink and checked in the room was ready.
The first hour here, which was not in anyway the hotels fault, was trying to resolve why our 4 hour drive to the north needed to start at 04.00. We could not get through to the agents so my wife went to reception. Staff on the desk called the agents and we had conformation that our pick would be at 09.00. That's better and now we could enjoy the rest of our stay.
We had a ground floor room and this was large. All that you would need, with a large bathroom with bath, separate shower and twin wash basins etc. There was a mini bar with a variety of refreshments. Being their only one night we did not need all the room had available.
Outside there was seating area, a reasonably sized pool, although this was shaded so probably a bit on the cool side, and then a further seating area. A gate also accessed the hotels grounds.
Upper story rooms do over look part of the outside area of the room but people did not arrive until later afternoon. There is also a roof top pool area.
I would have added some photos but the very poor trip advisor system only allowed me one photo, sorry hotel, trip advisor issue
On arrival we were advised that there was a wedding and the Oxygen Restaurant was not available for evening meals or breakfast. The hotel does offer events and its a lottery if you have one during your stay.
We had lunch outside at the Oxygen. Very nice meal and great, friendly service. The view is across lawn to the river (plus an Asian Barred Owlet).
In the later afternoon I went back and got some drinks from the Oxygen which it took me some persuasion to stop the staff carrying them back to the room. Perpetrations for the wedding did not cause us any issues.
We decide on our evening meal in the room, although we could see that meals were being served in the Oxygen in to the early evening.
Room service was very efficient, again very nice people and excellent food.
The wedding did not cause us any disturbance whatsoever.
In the morning breakfast was at the Library Bar. We chose outside but there are table inside as well, and it had the general sort of situation with cold buffet and a menu order for hot food. At the time of year just slightly cool so you might need a bit of extra clothing. There was a musical accompaniment with a guitar and a young lady singing. All very nice but just slightly too loud for what should have been background music.
The breakfast was absolutely fine and at 08.45 we were at the reception for out next stage.

We had an excellent stay at this lovely hotel by the river Ping. The hotel is modern, stylish and immaculately maintained. The a la carte breakfast is diverse and delicious. Quality of the lunch is also high and the French onion soup is memorable (as is the eggs Benedict for breakfast). Kudos to the entire staff. They are all well trained, courteous and professional. I am especially grateful to the housekeeping staff and the management (Praditwan) for recovering my eye-glasses and phone charger and for mailing them back to me at no cost. For a quiet stay outside the old city we recommend the Cross Chiang Mai Riverside Resort.

The Cross Chiang Mai Riverside was an absolutely exceptional experience. The resort itself is small, making it a quite & secluded getaway.
Food: The breakfast was out of this world & included in our stay. In the USA “breakfast included” usually means a buffet style of fruits, boxed cereals & cooked eggs & sausage. This breakfast was 5 star quality. Not only did you have a “buffet” style for some drinks & light snacks, but a huge display of personal fruit, baked goods & toast. On top of all of that you could also order anything off of their breakfast menu that would be prepared. There was never a shortage of food & we LOVED it all!
Pool: The pool was aesthetically gorgeous & usually quite calm. While there wasn’t a bartender up at the pool a quick phone call to order drinks was easy. They also had great specials on well drinks & beer during a happy hour period.
Staff: Everyone on staff from the receptionist to the dining area were accommodating, knowledgeable & friendly. Anything we needed I didn’t hesitate to reach out.
On the first night we had some very noisy kids next door making noise at very late hours. I made a call to the front desk just to inform them. They immediately made a call & the noise stopped. The next day they apologized & upgraded us rooms/moved us to another quieter space & provided a bottle of wine. They went above & beyond to fix a simple problem (that really was not their fault). We are so appreciative of them all!
If you are searching for your place to stay in Chiang Mai, look no further if you’re wanting a quiet & luxury stay. Thank you Chiang Mai Riverside for a wonderful holiday!

We had a wonderful stay at X2. The room was stunning and modern touch of Chiang Mai. The service was fantastic, we especially enjoyed evening service, it was an unexpected surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay even more enjoyable. The pool was incredible, especially at night with lights that created a peaceful and majestic atmosphere. Our experience at the spa was high above expectations, it was very relaxing with great service. The food served at breakfast was delicious with a good variety of dishes I’m the menu as well as a wide range of food at the buffet. If you’re staying in Chiang Mai, we highly recommend that you stay at X2 Riverside Resort.

After 2019, my wife and I spent another four nights at the Cross Chiang Mai Riverside this February. We particularly like its tranquil location on the Ping River, its very modern architecture, its modern, luxuriously appointed rooms, the service, and its 'Oxygen' Dining Room, housed in a glass house in the garden, which must be unparalleled in the region: To get the most comprehensive impression of his fusion Thai cuisine, we chose the Luxury Experience Menu, and it was a real delight. Each course was a small work of art, and the wine served with each was an excellent match. If only this restaurant were close to where we live!

My husband and I visited Chiang Mai last week and were so happy about our accommodation choice - X2 Chiang Mai Riverside Resort! The hotel is beautiful and modern with an incredible attention to detail! It was a relaxing spot (much needed after a long weekend in Bangkok) but close enough to the city and easy enough transportation to get there.
The spa facility and staff were welcoming and warm and our 90 min. massages were delightful. Later, while hanging at the pool, the GM, Ewan, stopped by to introduce himself and give us suggestions for dinner off the property as well as day time activities included an elephant sanctuary which ended up being a highlight of our trip. The front desk staff, including Sara, were very helpful making reservations and even packing a breakfast box for our early morning elephant departure. Other highlights were Tor, in the Library Cafe - he was a fun shining light after a day out exploring...
And Latte (his name, not a coffee 😉) at the Oxygen restaurant. We took advantage of the true culinary dinner experience on their patio and it was amazing! A lot of food, so pace yourself! But when my husband had to take a work call, Latte didn’t hesitate to offer to bring the last course to our room where we enjoyed dessert and port on our patio.
My husband and I travel quite a bit and our experience at X2 will not be soon forgotten! The only downside is that it is literally on the other side of the globe from us!

I spent four nights here in February. It is a new hotel interesting architecturally on the east bank of the river Ping built skilfully between old tamarind trees. My room had all one needed with a good balcony overlooking the river. There is a rooftop swimming pool about half of which is only paddling depth. Breakfasts were pleasant served in the garden. We had two meals in the second restaurant which were good, but didn’t try the main restaurant. An unusual amenity in Thailand is a pair of steam rooms. It is too far to walk into the city,but taxis are easy and there is a shuttle a few times a day.

*One of our in-room channels True premier will be streaming live the premier league football.
*We would allow for 10 minutes to the 3 Kings monument and a few minutes less than that to the Night bazaar area. We do have a shuttle a few times a day into the old city area, however, GRAB taxi is incredibly reasonable and very frequent.
*Our guests usually prefer the following golfing courses:
1) Chiang Mai Highland, 60 mins from X2 in the Sankanpang area.
2)) Alpine, 45 mins from X2 in the Sankampang area, it is new and beautiful views.
3) Summit Green Valley, 30 mins from X2 (there are many ponds).
