The hotel is old, tired and in need of a general renovation. Slightly overpriced for what it offers. It charges for WiFi and in room tea/coffee in all but the most expensive rooms. There is a 24 hour restaurant where the food is reasonably priced but quality depends on which chef is working - night chef is best. Staff can...

Roms: very very fine for the price Service: second to none Cleanliness: second to none Smoking: you may smoke in the room, but not in the indoor or outdoor restaurant. Wifi: slow. Could be improved for a small price. Perhaps one person should be upgraded to superuser. I tested the download speed to 0,76 Megabit/sec.

I have stayed twice at this hotel, which was recommended to me by a friend. The rooms were really nice and spacious, with flat screen TV , and air conditioning that really works. I had a great view from the large windows, of the courtyard below. Internet is available at the front office, or in the special computer room for...

A bit of a 60s time warp but that gives it some originality. Staff are pleasant and non judgemental. If you have an issue with gay life, maybe find some Christian guest house where you can have your prejudices confirmed.

Found myself with an extra few days in BKK in August but with dwindling budget, opted for this place.. Biggest mistake I've made in 20 years of frequent international travel . Reception staff surly, rude.. Blatantly talking about guests behind their backs ( myself included) ( unaware that I understand Thai). Walking to my room i felt as if I...

I have stayed here a few times. As one reviewer states, this place is very gay friendly, in fact the whole area is; and this area is fairly different from mainstream Bangkok, which is why I like it. Strret restaurants arond serve really good and cheap food and lumpini park is a shirt walk away. Rooms are not luxurious but...

Stayed here my last night in Bangkok and wished I had found it sooner. Front desk was very helpful and showed us to our room. Location is close to Silom where its cheap to take a taxi to enjoy the night life. Restaurant in hotel had a good food. Rooms were a tad outdated, but served the purpose. I will...

I used to come here a long, long time ago and returned after trying to find a decent hotel with reasonable rates. The Malaysia Hotel has recently refurbished some of their rooms and they are great! Friendly and polite staff, good location and we are just trying the food. I wish I had come here first. Oh and the rates are...

When in Bangkok, I always check in at Malaysia Hotel for the following reasons: very gay tolerant; nice (although old, which I don't mind, since it's well maintained anyway) rooms near the pool where I always stay; very reasonable price; great location; the restaurant is, OMG, very good food (Morning Glory forever and Mango in sticky rice- the best!) and...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
