I've been a regular guest for seventeen years and have reviewed the hotel previously. Like others, I was concerned that the recent change of management may lead to unwelcome changes. Reports of old friends on the staff leaving were a particular worry. I've just spent another few days there and can report that all is well. I did not experience...

This hotel is quite good, but the rooms could do with major updates; a bit tired and worn down. The rugs were mostly blackened with stains, so much so I would not consider going barefoot in there. The rooms were underwhelming considering the price. The pros, however, were the hospitality, the breakfast buffet and the comfortable beds. I dislike the...

This hotel is just off a main road so is very quiet, but in a great location very near the busy gay scene. We stayed in a deluxe room which was very comfortable, good size and well equiped. The rooms at the back on the lower floors, are very close to the neighbouring building so there is no view out...

I always was so happy withe the warm welcome and comfort of this very nice hotel. It was one of the few mostly gay hotels in Bangkok. However, it was not gay as a hotel, but it was very gay-minded. The manager took so much care for everybody. I think about 75% of guests were gay, and so many always...

I have stayed at Tarntawan hotel every year, sometimes twice a year, since 2002. It was like my home in Bangkok and the staff always remembered me and said "welcome back". But it was sold in October 2016 and more than half the wonderful staff have left. The room was OK, breakfast was still good, but the heart has been...

Tarntawan Place has been quite my home in Bangkok for more than 15 years. I always enjoyed being here. It was very popular, very friendly, an excellent level of service, and very often fully booked, with so many returning customers, who sometimes became some friends through the years. But, for the first time, I have been disappointed and it’s certainly...

The staff are friendlyou, but the hotel has seen better days. They have a bug infestation problem throughout the premises; ants in the bedrooms, ants in the dining room...it doesn't speak well of the general level of cleanlines, which is quite low. Speaking of low, this plavery tends to attract the kind of guest who wants to stay as close...

I have been visiting Tarntawan Place quite a few times over the past 20 years or more. Its location in Surawongse Road at walking distance from Lumpini Park - where you can take a pleasant walk in the early evening, the Patpong night street market, Silom Road, a number of restaurants and a short taxi ride from The Chao Phraya...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
