Was recommended to stay here from by brother. For a short 2 day stay the location was excellent, short walk to Ko Shan Rd and easy reach of the Royal Palace. Swimming pool is also a nice touch. Rooms are basic but perfectly fine. The price is the main thing, can pay a lot of money for hotels in Bangkok...

We have stayed here before, last time in January 2012 and it was better than good. Paid extra for a room in the new building, very clean and well presented. Stayed again in November 2012, room to the same good standard, a bit more pricey but there are free 'extras', water, shampoo, conditioner, etc. BUT in the mean time, the...

This is my go-to place when I'm in Bangkok. It's conveniently located near Khao San Road and Rambuttri without being noisy or annoying. The staff are competent and quite helpful, and the rooms are fine. Nothing fancy, but pretty clean and good enough! For the price, you can't complain at all. It's not the kind of hotel you want to...

A clean and comfortable place to stay in Banglamphu, I keep going back to the New Siam II. I was pleasantly surprised to find a new building this time. The rooms are as comfortable as the old ones, with air conditioning and safe boxes. You need to pay extra for wi fi. The swimming pool is a plus. Their staff...

Recently stayed here for two nights. The staff were very helpful and the location and price were also great. Fantastic area for good bars and cafes, easy to walk to lots of sights. My two issues were the few bed bug bites I received and also the very thin walls. Both nights we were woken up by our neighbour and...

Nestled alongside the river and only a stones throw from Khao San Road, New Siam 2 has always provided me with the perfect base to explore Bangkok whilst providing all necessary amenities including a great pool to cool off, AC and wifi. However one of the only negatives is that you now have to pay for wifi by the day...

We stayed there for more than a week. It was a very nice location (2mn walk from Kao san road), the staff was professional, the laundry not expensive and the reception open 24/24. The rooms are clean even if they are a little bit old school.

Had a great stay here, stayed for four nights, really comfortable rooms and nice clean bathrooms, pool was great for an arvo cool down, away from craziness of khaosan but still within 5-10min walking distance, we had a room on 5thfloor in the new part of building and was really quiet but our air-con was very noisy, other than that...

This is my 6th stay at new Siam 2 , and I thought I'd finally review it. It's is in a great location just far enough away from Khaosan road but not too far. It is clean and you get what you pay for. Do not know what it is , but since the expansion and renovations of Siam 2...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
