I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times the first being about 15 years ago. I haven't been there for about 10 years, but visited in December 2016. I must say it looks like it did 15 years ago, and it was fairly old then! The rooms are old but okay. The location is good if you want...

This is a very old hotel right next to many of the traditional Bangkok tourist attractions including the Grand Palace - location is also quite handy for Khosan Road. It's being renovated at the moment and we were allocated a room on the first floor that had already been renovated. The management at the Royal have really missed a trick...

Its good location near the old Grand Palace, Khosan Road, buses network, River boat. At a glance, the hotel looks magnificent and grand but everything looked very dated, need a good modernization to bring it back to its former glory. The receptionists are polite and helpful. There are 4 lifts to all levels. Good size room, large clean bed, dressing...

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL - EVER! This hotel is without a doubt the worst I've ever stayed in. The place is old, and I'm OK with that but it's a total construction zone with constant drilling into concrete and other load construction work going on. Our room wasn't made up at all today and we had to retrieve our...

The location is only the reason to choose this hotel is near the grand palace. Receptionist staff old ladies in the morning shift are no service mind and not friendly at all. Please train your staff to have more smiling.

From my last visit three years ago, this place now change. The picture of king family on the front of hotel is change to picture dead King only. There are a lot of sad citizens who pay homage to king.

Our arrival back from a fantastic small hotel in Cambodia was greeted by a sea of mourners and general chaos outside the hotel which made it difficult to access. Once inside the staff were friendly enough but that's where the good bits end. Our room, described as deluxe with modern decor, city views, a separate seating area and safe, coffee...

Mold on ceiling and bathroorms. Dirty. Holes in walls. Construction inside hotel all night. Location good, but I would not stay there again and would not recommend. It's like something straight out of the 50s. The ancient light thing didn't work, as you can imagine from the photo. We were afraid to touch anything and beds were like sleeping on...

This is the worst hotel I have stayed in so far. The front desk didn't welcome me instead they wouldn't talk to me until I found my passport, even though I showed them a photo copy of it. Maybe they gave me a poor room on purpose, room #469. The bell boy brought up my luggage and then he dropped...

Definitely built a few decades ago but was built with class. Now, it gives off an older vibe with a bell hop carrying your luggage only a few feet before asking for a tip. They try to keep the high class vibe but it is fleeting. I will say that the redeeming quality is that they serve kobe steak for...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
