I’ve chosen this hotel (after having done a thorough research) for its location and facilities on offer. The place although a bit dated ( the hotel was opened in the 80ties) is functional and comfortable. My room was well equipped and of a generous size with a nice view of the river from its small balcony. Good breakfast buffet and nice pool, which I enjoyed using on a daily basis. I would rate the hotel even higher if it was not for the somewhat lost and confused staff. Upon check in I’ve requested to book me for an afternoon tea which they did, however on the following day received an email from the hotel, which said they were fully booked and could not offer me a table. Went to the reception to clarify this, being a bit confused and once again, a different staff member confirmed that the booking was made and I would get a confirmation by email. The email was never sent, at least I never got one, so in the end decided to skip the afternoon tea and went for a cocktail to the lobby, which was quite mediocre. The most amusing and annoying situation was again at the reception , when I tried to exchange some GBP currency, handing in several new and clean notes, when the lady who assisted me found that one of them was apparently slightly faulty or dirty and refused to accept it. I went to the nearby shopping centre on the same day where the same 20 GBP note was exchanged for Thai bahts without any problems. It only seems to me that certain staff members at the hotel have a habit of making problems rather then trying to help paying guests. I also witnessed some rather unpleasant situation at the reception, concerning other guest, which only proofed my point. Overall my 3 days at the hotel were enjoyable but I would think seriously before choosing to stay there again, specially when one considers the strong competition they have from other 5 star hotels in Bangkok.…
Our family of 4 recently stayed at the Shangri-La Riverside in Bangkok. We booked two interconnecting rooms. We were very happy with our stay at the Shangri-La, the catering staff took exceptional care of our family's needs with multiple allergies, and because of this reason we were able to really relax and enjoy what Bangkok and the hotel had to offer. Special mention to Monravee, Nate, Doi, Don, SamSok and KittyPat. Many many thanks for your time and care in looking after the two teenagers with peanut and multiple other allergies. We would definitely chose the Shangri-La as our hotel of choice for our next trip. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We had river views from both rooms. We enjoyed the international breakfast food buffet each day and the location is great, we enjoyed relaxing by the main pool and watching the world go by on the river. All the staff were friendly and the hotel was always cleaned. There were a few events during our stay and we were provided with advance notice of cafe and pool closures. My only comment for improvement is the check in process and pre-authorization. We were incorrectly charged multiple times - these charges were reversed and fixed when I raised with the front desk staff. Thank you.…
Got a daypass for here on the last day of our holiday as we stayed in the Chiang Mai branch earlier in the month Outstanding. 800THB per person. Gym. Sauna. Pool. You basically get access to everything just don’t get a room at end of day. 5 star experience for us on a backpacking trip for a day just to feel relaxed and soak up some sun Pool is fantastic. Loads and loads of beds and the staff can’t do enough to help you. Banging 🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
AWFUL Run Down Rooms, Stay Somewhere else. Filthy worn carpets, smell in the room. Pool Bar area is grotty with worn floor boards that they need to place caution signs around so someone doesnt fall. No way is this a 5 star hotel, rooms are run down, dated and unhygienic. Stay somewhere else.
My husband and I were there to celebrate our 5th years wedding anniversary in March 2023. The people there are full of love, good service, especially the front desk manager- Jackie. We have a very pleasant stay and definitely wow us. The room is nice and clean. Before this March, I was staying there in 2019 and i have encountered an unpleasant experience during the stay. I was quite upset after communication broke down with other colleagues, Jackie was the one handled my complaint with his sincerity, professional and true heart. I’m so happy that he is still there after COVID ! thank you for his hospitality! Beside the service, the breakfast there is fantastic! It is the best hotel breakfasts I ever had! The spa is good too! Thank you Oh for her professional service !
We used the Shangri-La Bangkok as our first hotel whilst in Thailand and it was perfect. Breakfast had a huge variety of food options, both cooked and cold - great pastries and sushi. Dinner was also very good offering a variety of global cuisines as well as a speciality Thai restaurant. The room we had was a river view with balcony on the 15th floor. Go for a balcony room if possible. It was extremely spacious, well equipped and comfortable. The pool area looked great but we didn’t use it. The location of this hotel was great for exploring Bangkok, being close to trains and boats as well as having a free boat shuttle across to the IconSiam mall. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent hotel where we stay every time we go to Bangkok. They are nice enough to manage to get us the same type of room on the 18th floor with a terrace having a view on the Chao Phraya River. The suite is fantastic with a working desk facing the river and the city. The Gym is great with a nice view as well. The restaurant downstair where you can have lunch and dinner is on the river side. Very close outside you can take the MTR which will take you very quickly to Paragon and MBK department stores. You have a shuttle from the hotel crossing the river to go to Icon Siam refurbished shopping centre. Of course we will be back next time we go to BKK.
Great location on the river with access to bts and ferry services. The hotel is beautiful but is just so big that it leads to overcrowding during peak times. The breakfast restaurant and pool get so busy and uncomfortable at times. It is a bit overwhelming for families although the service was always top notch.
The hotel is nicely located at the river site and the room interior is quite decent. However, the multimedia infrastructure is sub-standard and rather antique. Critical assets, especially the obligatory river shuttle for 5-star hotels in Bangkok are missing. This is definitely a major blow-back. The hotel spa services, tours and restaurants are all overpriced as within the other hotels. The club lounge is ok – the staff is friendly, but replenishment and offering are well behind comparable houses. All in all, while pricing definitely is 5-star, the offerings are not Asian or Bangkok 5-star standard anymore.
This is a lovely hotel and the staff are really helpful and friendly. However beware of the 'do not disturb' system at this hotel. We arrived on a Friday lunchtime and couldn't make out by Sunday why the room hadn't been cleaned. Apparently there is a switch just inside the door which if you accidentally switch it on thinking it is a light switch, your room doesn't get cleaned. It would have been appreciated if this had been pointed out to us on arrival. Apart from having breakfast which was lovely and catered for all tastes, it was cheaper to eat and drink outside the hotel. The conciege staff were extremely helpful as I had forgotten some tablets I need to take and they found out where I could purchase some (7/11 didn't stock them) and one staff member even came with me to the place where I could get some. However, we did book an early morning call on the day we left as we had a 9.00 am pick up and this did not occur. Maybe it was due to the fact a large contingent of Americans had arrived whilst we were there and the staff were very busy attending to them. I have stayed at other Shangri La hotels and feel this one fell slightly below the standard I expected. But yes, I would stay at this hotel again.…
