After an incredible 1-night stay at Banyan Tree KL, we quickly planned for a Bangkok family vacation around a stay at the Banyan Tree Bangkok, but decided to extend it to 3 nights. We figured this to be an optimal time to experience all that the property had to offer. We got an excellent HERA rate (Accor's rate for luxury travel advisers) that apart from its usual inclusions of property credit, upgrade, breakfast, etc was also a “pay 2 stay 3” rate. This coupled with the fact that we were Accor Gold at that time along with our Accor Plus membership made the stay potentially very rewarding. We had initially booked for a Serenity Club room that gave us access to the club lounge. Sometime before our arrival, the hotel decided to rearrange their room classification and so our booked room got mapped into a “Panorama River View” room. I sent an email to their GM Nopparat Aumpa (Khun Kai) which was answered by the director of reservations & sales Phatsakorn Koetthongkham. He offered two upgrade options, either a One-bedroom Suite or a Vertigo Club Park View room, each with an extra bed. Although the former would have been much spacious, the suite was located at their lower floors (23-32) while the Vertigo club room was located at the highest floors (55-58) facing the Lumpini park. Apart from the best location, these rooms included a sunset drink at the Moon Bar (for all 4 of us) and priority booking at the Vertigo.
We arrived at the hotel a little after 10 AM and as we proceeded to the ground floor reception we were quickly whisked away to the Serenity Club lounge at the 19th floor to complete our check-in formalities. We were warmly received by James, the club lounge host, who very nicely explained all our inclusions as we enjoyed a soothing welcome drink after cold towels. We got a room on the 56th floor (#5602) which being at the corner had an excellent view of the park but also the Mahanakhon tower was visible. We thought the room looked a bit dated and was also on the smaller side for a family. On entering there was a full-sized glass-topped work desk on the left along with a chair. On the right, we had a fully-stocked mini bar including a Nespresso machine. There was a daybed-cum-sofa, an oval glass-topped centre table and a single seat chair. The queen-sized bed was at the other end of the room which was on the firmer side. In between, there was a cabinet with drawers that also included their signature aromatherapy amenities. The TV was hanging right on top of this. I had seen some of their rooms to have a walk-in closet but ours didn’t which just had a standard wardrobe. The 5-fixture bathroom was equally compact and it had none of the lavishness of Banyan Tree KL bathroom. They had a bidet toilet but this was of the older American Standard variety which was not that responsive like a modern Toto. The Thai elements in the room were limited except for the framed painting at the headboard. As mentioned, the room was really small and when the extra bed was placed there was not enough space to even keep our three suitcases. Hence we requested the house-keeping to remove the extra bed every day and replace during the evening turn down. This was done every day without any issues. The welcome amenities included some pastries while a nice heart-shaped cake was placed later as we were also celebrating our anniversary. In general, the house-keeping was efficient and each night during turn down they would leave one unique piece of item, a toy or baby lotions sometimes or even a sleep enhancing oil.
The USP of the room was, of course, the views from its two windows which were indeed out of the world. Lumpini park was on the right, the buildings of Sukhumvit visible behind it while on the left you could see Mahanakhon, other Silom tall ones and a few near the Chao Praya too although the river itself was not seen from this side of the hotel. The views were even grander at night with the city lights on and you could perhaps spend hours looking at all this trying to identify the individual skyscrapers.
Among their restaurants we tried Bai Yun, the modernist Cantonese and Saffron, the Thai restaurant. At Bai Yun we went for lunch where among otherthings we tried the shrimp siu mai with black caviar, the steamed scallop on a bed of noodles and the crispy soft shell crab, all of which were excellent. The simpler Yang Chow fried rice tasted better though than the more lavishly presented fried rice wrapped in lotus leaf. The service here was to the point, while it was much rushed at Saffron, their signature Thai restaurant. It was true that we went there without a reservation and about half an hour before their last order time but the servers were also continually running around and dropping things. For example, our host suggested to place the dessert even before we could finish off our mains. Here, the Massaman Curry (Southern style) and the Pad Thai with the jumbo river prawn were good although this was definitely not the best Thai food we had during our trip. We wanted one of our meals at Romsai too, their ground level international/buffet restaurant, but it would always close early and they didn’t seem to serve a-la-carte for dinner at all. Instead, we had one of our breakfasts there. It was not very crowded and the menu was slightly more elaborate than at the Serenity lounge, for example, they had some extra Japanese and Indian items. It was a completely different experience at the Moon Bar when we went for our complimentary sunset drink. We were literally jostling for space all the time with the Bangkok crowd and every square inch of the place was teeming with people given the popularity of the venue. We ordered from a separate and limited menu but it was worth the experience I thought. Although, we didn’t see any actual sunset given clouds always at the horizon it was still nice to have observed the change of scenery as the dusk settled in and the city lights started to glow slowly.
On the other hand, we loved the Club Lounge. Unlike other such places at Bangkok this one was kids friendly too. Their cocktail hours were quite the treat. The food, including hot items, were decent but what stood out was their drinks selection, especially the sparking wines including the rose ones. There were some nice cocktails and mocktails too on their menu and the staff would actively come over to refill your glasses. Of course, beer was always available at the lounge right after breakfast while there was also high tea before the cocktail hours, which we actually missed on all the days. For a Club Lounge the breakfast at Serenity was very elaborate with an egg station that had almost 9-10 items including some very unique local delicacies. There were noodle stations, congee stations, dim sum bar, many hot items, cold cuts and still others. In summary, if you had access to this lounge you could safely ignore the Romsai breakfast downstairs without missing much.
Although a language barrier persisted, it was nothing of the sort we experienced at other similar properties at Bangkok. Here, the staff genuinely tried to understand your queries, were eager to help and would always try to offer some solution. We checked-out from the Club Lounge and while James was off that day our check-out still proceeded without much hiccups. I had saved our food bills so that the USD 100 credit could be applied and I even managed to redeem ALL points to pay off the remaining bill. In fact, the property may be showing its age but the staff more than made up for it and they definitely had been well trained in their art. While a single person should not be credited for this, it goes without saying that Khun Kai, the GM for some time now, must have a very important role to play here. In spite of her busy schedule, she still managed to thank us for our stay as we were walking out of the lounge post check out.

Banyan Tree Hotel in Bangkok was such an amazing discovery for me.
There was slight confusion upon check-in, but it was resolved, and I couldn’t stay irritated for a minute longer because their front desk officer, Skylar, was such a darling.
It was my first time in Bangkok, so I wanted it to be super special. I flew in a day earlier than my teammates to have my much-needed me-time before the start of our meetings and conference.
I chose this hotel based on my research. I knew I made the right choice the moment I entered my room on the 48th floor.
The room was spacious and spotless. There were glass bottles of water in every corner, but Skylar reminded me that I could ask for more water if I needed it. I went to Chatuchak Weekend Market and Terminal 21 and was so pleasantly surprised upon returning to my hotel room and seeing that the curtains were turned down, the bed sheets were lifted on the sides, the slippers were waiting for me on a floor cloth by the bed, and the oil diffuser was lit, which made my room super relaxing.
Then breakfast came, and I just have to say it was also the best I have had so far. There were so many choices that I could afford to try something new each morning, even if the spread was almost always the same each day. Crispy bacon is life, so I was super happy to have it every morning. The other revelation was their iced Thai milk tea, which I could order as much as I wanted. 😂 It was super yummy, not too sweet, and the staff generously shared with me how they made it.
My two teammates who also stayed in the hotel all agreed with my observations of this hotel.
While waiting for our Grab ride, we were entertained by either the wrist garland maker or the lyre player, who played relaxing music that can be overheard at the breakfast restaurant downstairs.
All the hotel staff were so courteous, kind, and attentive, always eager to help and give guests a great stay at their hotel.
I have stayed in other expensive hotels in my country and other Asian countries, and this was absolutely the most mindful hotel I have ever stayed in!
I was able to prove it throughout my 5-day stay, with me looking forward to going back to my room with a different scent coming from the oil diffuser, then curtains turned down, bed sheet folded, the slippers placed neatly on a floor cloth by the side of our beds, and a different small gift on the bed waiting for us each evening.
No wonder everyone from Bangkok who knew where we were staying would say Banyan Tree Hotel is a fine hotel. I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants the most pleasant, relaxing, gastronomously satisfying stay in Bangkok.

We spent 4 night here and although we were all excited for the next leg of our trip, we were also sad to leave. As soon as you walk inside, it’s like a little piece of tranquility and smells divine. We arrived at around 10am and as we had booked a 2 bedroom suite, we were taken straight to the club lounge where we were greeted with cold drinks, towels and snacks while we checked in. A very welcome treat after a long night travelling. The suite was incredible, it was huge, had everything we needed and more. I have never stayed in such a comfortable bed and those pillows- if anyone knows where I can buy them, I’d get them in a flash! The room was cleaned daily to a high standard and we loved receiving our little treats at evening turn down. They really have thought of everything here, even to the slippers being perfectly placed to slip on as you get out of bed. Club access meant we could have our breakfast in the club lounge and also take advantage of afternoon tea and cocktails & canopes at set times in the club lounge area. When they say canpes, we expected just that but no, you could probably actually have a full evening meal in there. We often had to restrict ourselves so as not to ruin our evening meal. We joked about it being all inclusive! The concierge was really helpful, prevented us from taking our kids to some very dodgy areas and made sure we weren’t ripped off by taxi drivers!! We had room service from the Chinese restaurant one evening, it was delivered really quickly, was hot, plentiful and very tasty. We had drinks in the moon bar and vertigo bar, cocktails were delicious and the setting amazing! Can’t comment on food service but the only thing we would say is that drink service in both bars was a little slow and didn’t really match that of the rest of the hotel. A fabulous stay, don’t think we could stay anywhere else in Bangkok after experiencing the Banyan tree. A perfect place to return to after a busy day exploring Bangkok.

But unfortunately, that’s the most memorable thing about The Banyan Tree.
The staff need training with basic manners: we got told off at breakfast for using the wrong plates for pastries, at the bar we were told by the greeter (who’s job it is to find guests a table): “there might not be any tables - go and have a look”, and the door staff were supercilious and unhelpful.
The lounge has no class - looks more like an airport lounge than a 5 star hotel, and they’re clearly more focused on the photo-desperate influencer crowd than they are on their actual guests - they’re the ones who get special treatment when they arrive.
The rooms need an upgrade - a bit fraying at the edges, the wardrobe malfunctioning, the TV didn’t work properly, the shower is ridiculously powerful and focused. Bed was very comfy through. Don’t trust the pictures of the pool - if there’s one child in there splashing then it’s too small to swim as it’s so narrow.
The breakfast is great (if you ignore the surly staff) and the gym is decent, you can usually get a cab within 15 minutes - not bad for Bangkok.
Seriously, for the same money stay at the Sukothai next door - an infinitely more pleasant experience.

We last stayed at the Banyan Tree Bangkok in 2020, this time we had booked a club room which was fabulous, enjoyed the complimentary afternoon tea and pre dinner cocktails and canapés. The thing I like about this hotel is that if you ask for something you can be confident it will be done, when we checked in, we mentioned we had an early checkout at 4am to catch a flight to Krabi, we were offered a breakfast box and sure enough when we dropped off the room key our excellent boxes were ready. We dined at Vertigo on one night, would recommend you book well before your visit as hugely popular. We will be back next trip.

service staff Take good care of it. Stayed in the Serenity room. The room was a good size, not cramped. The room is divided into sections, a work desk, a sofa, and a small walk-in closet. Bathroom and bed The bed and pillows are soft and comfortable to sleep in. There are incense sticks and essential oils. Importantly, electrical plugs are available throughout the room for convenience. The bathroom has a sink with double faucets (there are 2 faucets) and an automatic electric toilet. There is a large bathtub. You can soak in it comfortably.

We stayed for one night arriving from Male before travelling on to Phuket. Arrival was good given flower wrist bands which was welcoming Checked it we were told we had been given an upgrade to the Club Suits - fantastic we thought. However, walking down to our room on the 32nd floor it smelt very musty - the room not so much but not quite right. The upgrade suite was a fantastic size the bed super comfy as well as the pillows The bathroom was also a great size Just 3 things which could have been better for a Club Room 1. A full length mirror - everyone needs this surely. only the bathroom mirror showing half of you. 2. A plug socket/usb on both sides of the bed not just one - suppose if you are single on business doesn't matter. 3. a hook to hang your towel on prior to getting into the shower, otherwise you need to leave them on the toilet for easy access when coming out of the shower
- staff where friendly - breakfast was very good - we sat in the garden which was lovely. A lot of variety of foods to suit all nationalities and tastes
Roof top bar - ensure the staff know you are guests staying at the hotel

My stay at the Banyan Tree hotel was absolutely fabulous. The house keeping service was twice a day, they continually restocked my glass water bottles (6-8 in the room), provided me with fresh fruit, changed the “scent of the day” a burning oil and incense, restocked in room coffee, and did an amazing job cleaning. The team was incredibly trustworthy - I had mistakenly left out a lot of small bills which were not touched.
Additionally, the rooftop was divine. Grateful for the free welcome drink. The food and beverage service - the inclusive breakfast was a real highlight with fresh Thai tea and Thai coffee. I appreciate how Aor who works on the staff would always recognize and actively come greet me — this service made me feel so special and at home despite being a solo traveler.
I would highly recommend this hotel to all! I truly look forward to coming back to Bangkok and staying at the Banyan Tree hotel.

I and my family booked three rooms and one of rooms was for my sister and her two children. But somehow these rooms are so tiny that extra bed that we have requested wasn’t able to be placed in the room or living room. so my sister ended up sleeping on the couch in living room separately from her children because they simply and apathetically rejected my request of complimentary upgrade at least for the room with children, saying we have to pay 2,900BTH for the upgrade. I didn’t even know this hotel has such small rooms because i never seen this size before. I had always booked the average room and the room was big enough all the other times. That’s why i didn’t expect such situation.
I understand the room upgrade is up to you people’s decision but i doubt if you really had to do this unkindness to me and my family since it’s been already the fourth visiting. I chose this hotel because i wanted my family to experience good stays as i did before for the last day of trip in Thailand. (even though your swimming pool is the smallest i’ve ever seen.)
I am not being picky because of rejection for the upgrade but these small rooms have very bad condition as well. The outlets are so old that they don’t get plugged well with chargers. Also water comes out of shower booth a lot when there is no drain hole on the floor. That explains why they put three towels on the bathroom floor and it’s not even enough. Toilet and sink are dirty too. Windows have dirty stains on them. The thing to insert the card key got broken by just push down the card in it. Everything is so old and out of average condition.
I am honestly glad to know the service quality of your hotel before i start booking the hotel for the next month trip. There are countless accommodations with much better condition, service and even cheaper price in Bangkok. Thanks.

On November 1, 2024, I had the pleasure of experiencing Apsara by Banyan Tree, a premier fine-dining Thai cuisine cruise along the river. From the moment I stepped aboard, I was captivated by the cruise’s wooden decor, which merges modern Thai aesthetics with traditional touches beautifully. The spacious interior, enhanced by large windows, allowed for unobstructed views, while the gentle strains of live traditional Thai instrumental music—a rare and delightful touch—created a serene atmosphere.
Whenever I plan a river cruise experience, I consider three key aspects: Route, Ambiance, and Food & Service. With Apsara, these three elements come together seamlessly, and I’m thrilled to say that Banyan Tree excels in all of them.
Route: The journey offered unparalleled views of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks, from the historic Asiatique the Riverfront to the stunning Rama VIII Bridge. This distinctive route sets Apsara apart from other river cruises, offering a unique perspective on Bangkok’s rich history and vibrant city lights.
Ambiance: The luxurious details on board reflect Banyan Tree’s commitment to creating an exquisite experience. From the refined cutlery and plates to the elegant wooden decor, every element is thoughtfully chosen to evoke both warmth and luxury. Stepping onto the cruise felt like entering a high-end Thai restaurant—only this one floats gently on the river, providing panoramic city views from every angle, including a breathtaking 360-degree view from the top deck.
Food & Service: I had the pleasure of meeting K. Pair, who shared that this was the cruise’s inaugural day. Despite the fully-booked evening, her attention to every course was impeccable. The team, including K. Chang and K. Boom, continuously attended to my table, refilling drinks and sharing fascinating insights about the boat. We enjoyed a four-course meal, with each dish thoughtfully presented by K. Eng Aorn and K. Pair, who described each course with passion and precision, elevating the fine-dining experience.
The cuisine itself is authentically Thai, preserving the true flavors of the culture without fusion elements. Before the meal, the waitstaff offered a charming gesture: they brought a jug of warm water and a bowl to the table for a traditional hand wash—a thoughtful touch underscoring their dedication to service.
This cruise was a memorable blend of luxury, tradition, and authentic Thai hospitality, making it a must-try for anyone seeking an exceptional dining experience on the river. If they can achieve this on their very first day, I am confident this cruise will soon become one of Bangkok’s most popular dining experiences. Well done, Banyan Tree!

It is advisable to book for Saffron especially if you would like to have a table with a view. Also advisable to book for the rooftop bar if you want to get a seat with a view of the city skyline.
hello. Sorry for the very late reply. There is a bathtub. It was nice to be able to take a half-body bath every day. I hope you have a pleasant trip~^^
