I am a regular traveller to Bangkok and have stayed at several similar hotels like the Dusit Thani, Plaza Athenee, Oriental, etc. I decided this time to try the Sukothai. I hesitated because the hotel was US$300 per night. The hotel location is good and it gives the feel of an urban oasis. It is a huge property and is...

I have stayed here before and will do so again. It is welcoming, elegant and discrete. The hotel is set back from the road and so provides a quiet space in a very busy city. Staff go out of their way to help sort your travel challenges without being intrusive. Room service is great. Great bed linen!

If you are looking for a different hotel, take a look at this one: different from standard hotel chains; exotic taste; great service; large suites and good placement make this hotel ideal for an urban escape in Bangkok.

As said, the Sukhothai is a quiet relaxing retreat in Bangkok, just entering off the main streets and everything melts away. The hotel is well appointed and the staff are great and friendly. They take the time to make you feel at home in this luxury hotel, even if you are dressed in shorts and flipflops. The rooms are quite...

The Sukothai is a haven in the middle of this bustling, crazy city. The staff at the airport to welcome you, the ride to the hotel, the check in, done in your room...all excellent. This was surpassed by breakfast in The Colonnade - staff greeted you by name, they remembered what you liked to eat or drink and this provided...

This hotel is surrounded by green gardens and zen pools. You cannot help but feel relaxed. Service is top notch. Ordered a veg sandwich at poolside and was amazed at how much care was put into preparing and presenting the sandwich.

When we entered the hotel (at around 3pm) our room was not ready, this was not a big deal to me as our check-in time was not until 4 pm, but the staff were very apologetic and walked us over to there pool side café for a free drink, while we waited 30 minutes for our room to be ready....

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
