Waited 1.5hrs for a room, reason is your nice room being cleaned (reception told me when I arrived to go and walk around till check-in time 3pm so that the nicer room will be available). If room 420 is a nice room, I cannot imagine what a normal room will look like..numerous brown stains on the carpet in the room, Brought to the room at 4.30pm, housekeeping was still cleaning the room, no toothbrushes, towels look like they need a good deep clean. I made a bad choice in booking this hotel.
This is day 5 of 9 nights at the Anantara Siam. This hotel is fabulous. I have booked a wonderful room staying in a Siam Suite with marvellous views overlooking a golf course. Breakfast is everything you would want and probably more than you need. Kasara Lounge access is a must with Manager Narisa and staff members Bam and Pétanque being not just fabulous but also genuinely lovely people. I really hope that the management of Anantara Siam appreciate the absolutely marvellous staff they have. I must also mention that every staff member at this hotel goes above what would normally be expected. The question I always ask is would I return and actually I don’t want to leave.
We stayed at Anantara as a couple to kick off our visit to Thailand. Our first impressions were spectacular given the enormity of the lobby area and the amazing attention to detail. Our check in process was slow. The staff member was fairly clueless as to how to run the process and when I advised her I had booked the Kasara Lounge Room, she escorted me there to be dealt with by their staff. The Kasara lounge stewards were great, especially Pum. They promptly got through the check-in process and got us some (non-alcoholic, due to a Buddhist Day) drinks, before explaining how everything worked. Important to note that the hotel advertises that the lounge is on the first level overlooking the gorgeous lobby. Unfortunately this is not true and the lounge has since been moved to a space on level 7 with no real views. We then made our way to the room. An odd design feature here is that you actually walk outside to get into your room. That’s a bit tough when you walk from an air conditioned hallway, to an outdoor walkway in Bangkok humidity, to an air conditioned room. The room was well-furnished and decently sized, with excellent amenities, a fully-stocked mini-bar and a large LG screen. Unfortunately no iPhone mirroring capability (or other smart app functionality, with the exception of YouTube which was available) however Android users may fare better with Mirrorcast available. This room had 2 USB ports which were a god-send to forgetful travellers like me. Our room had a view of the pool and other hotels. I did ask for a golf-course facing view but I wasn’t too phased. Breakfast is held in the downstairs courtyard (covered in canopy) with a lovely view overlooking a koi fish pond. Lounge guests can choose to take Breakfast in Ksara though it is smaller and had less variety, so we took it in the main area. Breakfast was an array of Asian, middle-eastern and western options for buffet. The options for Al a carte were a decent range though fairly uninspiring for a 5 star branded resort. Service was terrible, to put it plainly. We were greeted and immediately instructed to a seat without asking for an outside/inside preference. We were told staff would look for an outside seat for us and move us when one came up. We had to beg for menus and reminded staff four times for our coffees which were decent. We spent one evening in the Kasara lounge and found the free-flow drinks hour a slow moving train. 20 minute intervals between drinks with slow, untrained wait staff made it an extremely painful process. The upside of the lounge however was the exceptional stewards, who booked us in for massages, dinners and even helped arrange our transfers for our next hotel in Phuket. The stewards were of real value and left fantastic impressions on us. We ordered room service once and found the charges ridiculous, given the portion sizes. 3,400 baht got us a few tiny mains and an entree that was cold on arrival. The check-out process was yet again a drawn-out process with yet another untrained staff awkwardly starting the process before he ran over to his colleague who, in his own words, “need to restart as my colleague did not know what he was doing”. Ultimately, I don’t think I’d return to Anantara unless they had an exceptional deal. At this price-point, we would’ve been better off at competitors Waldorf Astoria or St Regis. The pricing does not match the service, with a few shinning spots pulling the hotel through. The location is great noting it’s convenience to the SkyRail and one stop away from shopping-Heavan-Siam.…
Hotel is slightly older but well-maintained. Lobby is impressive with well-trained staff. Room is spacious and has character. Buffet breakfast is one of the best, some of the items from the menu taste heavenly like the Morroccan eggs & truffle scrambled eggs. Has a juice station as well. One of the better gym i have seen in a gym, has a squat-rack, Only needed some heavier dumdbells to be as good as commercial gyms. 3min walk to Rajdamri BTS, 10min walk to Central World. Fantastic Location Say no more, i am coming back again if the rates are not too expensive. Made the reservation in March when bangkok was still slowly opening up and i got a good deal.
Unfortunately Covid has brought a lot of negatives to this hotel. I used to have better quality service in the past, and at the moment Aanantara Siam is far from what it offered in the past. It's a shame for a small part of the staff who do their best.
It was a pleasant surprise and exceeded my expectation. The varieties of food and areas to visit were great limiting customers to unnecessary contacts with other guess. The covid-19 protocol in place makes me feel more comfortable.
Lowest service level we ever had in Thailand. The check in experience took us 30 minutes and long dicussions. The hotel, especially the tooms look and smell outdated. The room carpet was full of large stains. The aircon such 8ld that the temperature ccannot be regulated. The Spa treatments were ok, but reflected not at all the high price. The best was the staff at Kansara lounge, especially K.T. and Bam. We would not vook again here.
exquisite style hotel at the heart of Bangkok, Superb quality room , comfortable but sophisticated environment beautiful gardens and floristry in the Lobby , effect service in all departments , location superb
If you choose this Hotel base on the Name than DONT GO THERE! Its not worth the money you paid for at all. most rooms are outdated, dirty Carpets or broken AC. if you Book on the websites direct then check everything and know everything whats included otherwise they'll ignore it and you dont get the benefits you paid for. The services at the Hotel were OK but not better than any other 5 stars Hotel we have visited so far. its was an experience for itself and i would not recommend the Hotel to anybody except people who likes Dirty or Stains rooms. We did tell the staff about our Issue but except an : we are very sorry" you dont get anything else.
The breakfast blew me away with the spread, quality and creativity. There is so much to try at the breakfast and if I can only choose one meal in bkk, this will be it. Firstly, guest can order some ala carte items like eggs done in many ways and thai dishes like like pad see ew which was done perfectly with Smokey wok flavour like how a good street side stall would do it which is rarity in hotel. Next, Immerse in the plethora of hearty food from thai curry, cured meat, Chinese dim sums to fresh fruits including whole coconut and freshly blended juice of your choice. I wish I could stay here all my trips to enjoy all the delicious food they offer. Decor of the hotel and rooms feels very heavy like old European style with marble in all surfaces, cushion thicker than airbags and beds are super comfy and sound proof of rooms are super good despite my room locating next to bts track, yes view from my room is bts track lol. But that didn’t bother me. Overall, staff are very helpful and courteous, always ready to greet and serve wherever we are and Lastly, I wish to express my appreciation for a lady staff name Miss Por at the breakfast as she went beyond her duty to help locate room number of my friends and contacted them to attend breakfast despite she was so busy that day…
