Detailed Reviews
This is one of the original hotels in Bangkok, in fact the first I ever stayed in this City some 23 years ago. So coming back was like a second homecoming. Why the WOW, there has recently been a huge investment into the property and the standard of finishing is superb. I stayed in a Premium Deluxe room and it was most definitely luxurious. Bathrooms all Toto with latest technology, huge bed, 240cm and a massive flat screen TV. Nice sofa, relaxing chairs and even a really good desk. The open rail wardrobe , the luxurious bath and a well stocked minibar made sure you were getting the modern 5 star vibe in what is one of the most well established Hotels in town. The ground floor FnB areas are huge and its easy to find a snug hideaway. A nicely appointed coffee shop and open public space add to that 5 star feeling. I definitely recommend this Hotel, my home from home.

I dont usually write reviews here or anywhere. But i’m going to make an exception this time.
I had the pleasure of staycationing at the Montien for the weekend and was truely impressed. The hotel’s name goes back many decades for the Thais but this complete renovation work should put Montien Surawong Hotel back on the new and modern city hotels map of Bangkok again.
Up on the 15th floor, our room was extremely clean and spacious with the deco tastefully blending a snippet of ancient Thai arts with contemporary design. Despite the hotel being next to Rama 4 road it was surprisingly quiet in our room. The bathroom had a bathtub, a swanky japanese styled heated toilet, and ablutions by Charcoalogy.
The bed, ooh, the best part. The crisp white sheets and the ultra comfortable pillows resulted in one of my best nights sleep in a long time.

We stayed at the Montien 20 years ago but like so many travellers enjoyed trying out new hotels whenever we were in BKK. However, this time we opted for the newly renovated Montien. Wow!! It has been beautifully executed. The room we had (Junior King Suite) is spacious and inviting. Enormous, extremely comfortable bed with magnificent pillows. The interior design is light & airy with light wooden effect tile floors & a patterned rug. Very tasteful with a modern Thai/Japanese feel. The bathroom is immaculate & the towels are very plush. The main lobby in one of the two wings is almost finished & is spacious & relaxing. The dining areas are huge & well laid out with interesting design features and lovely objets d'art. As, in the past, Montien's food is a highlight. The breakfast was well presented with plenty of variety. We enjoyed an evening meal as well which was very reasonably priced. Wifi was strong and there wasn't a staff member there who wasn't friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff were excellent and the good news is that if you've stayed here before and encountered Tik, the amazing doorman/greeter, you'll be pleased to know that this Montien treasure is still there in all his glory and with just as much enthusiasm. Room prices were very reasonable at this stage so take advantage of the current situation & stay here. You won't regret it. We're waiting for the Executive or Club Lounge to be added to the mix but even without it, at the moment, we now know that given the quality of the hotel and the fantastic location, staying at the Montien is our No. 1 choice.

Arriving late after a long drive, we were very warmly welcomed at the hotel by the bellhops and receptionists who assisted us with our luggage and parking to ensure a seamless check-in experience.
The rooms and bed were very large (and comfortable), equipped with everything we needed, beautifully modern with a minimalist and sleek finish!
Having had a lie in, we opted for breakfast in our room which was delivered quikly and laid out before us - a deliciously filling spread including fresh fruits and juices.
The checkout experience was as seamless and easy as our arrival, again warmly received and assisted by the staff.
Perfectly located for sightseeing, dining or shopping, this is definitely the best option when travelling to Bangkok!

Normally when in Bangkok we stay at the Shangri-La by the river but this time we needed a couple of rooms so chose the Montien Surawong and I have to say very pleasantly surprised.
The rooms were modern, fresh and clearly recently refurbished. Good sized bathrooms, comfy beds, superb air conditioning. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The older guy looking after the front doors is everyone’s best friend as they leave, he sorts you out with taxis at the right price and generally asks how your day is going.
Breakfast catered for both Eastern and Western tastes and was handled well. At no point did it seem chaotic.
The actual location is perfect, you literally step out of the Hotel onto the top of Patpong Road and all that offers. Similarly high end shopping or the River is just a short journey away. We used taxis this time rather than the sky train and each ride was between 100 and 200 baht.
A great choice in the heart of Bangkok.

Went for a 1 night stay and the experience was amazing.
Warm welcome upon arrival, care for the guest, amazing new refurbished room with the right correct of tones, design and a large California King size bed.
My wife just loved the bathroom and simplicity of the design with the black & white touch and charcoal amenities.
On the next morning, the A La Carte breakfast was very tasty with great options available. The waffle was very good and Khun Jeab the waitress was kind enough to make some suggestions which we did try their great pomelo juice, a must try as an alternative of the traditional orange juice.
Overall a great stay and look forward to come back again by the end of the year as they will have even more restaurants and facilities upgrade that will be taking place!

What an experience, from the time you arrive being greeted by friendly and genuine staff who obviously have a natural passion for what they do, after a long flight what a way to be welcomed and this was only the beginning.
After my friendly welcome the reception team shared with my the facilities of ther hotel and were aware of my long flight and made the check in process quick and pain free.
I was taken to the lifts and escorted to my room by one of the friendly concierge team members, upon entering my room I was absolutely delighted with the size and overall luxury of my suite, the attention to detail in preserving a number of original pieces of furniture and art in the room was tastefully done. The beds and pillows so comfortable and I had the best nights sleep every night. The shower had excellent hot water and good water pressure and I loved the Thai made bathroom amenities. The daily servicing of the room was always consistent and room spotlessly cleaned.
I have stayed at many hotels over the years in Bangkok and what a lovely surprise to come across The Montien, the hotel has been restored so tastefully and to the highest standards with the friendliest and most genuine staff.
Whilst here make sure you check out Ruenton Restaurant, the best Dim Sum in town and is famous for its Chicken Rice - be sure to book as this place gets busy as extremely popular with the locals 😀
It’s is clear this hotel is operated by a team of professionals who have a natural passion for the art of hospitality, this DNA resonates throughout the entire hotel experience. A special mention to the Hotels General Manager, Pierre, his genuine passion for Hospitality and the guest experience makes The Montien stand out of the crowd to rival any other hotel in Thailand.
I can highly recommend The Montien, you will not be disappointed and I can guarantee you will be surprised and just like me become my home when I visit Bangkok.

Last month I stayed at the freshly renovated and newly refurbished Montiel Hotel Surawong Bangkok.
The hotel originally opened in the late 1970‘ and was recently completely refurbished and now should be ready for the next 50 years.
I stayed in a Junior Suite which was spacious, beautifully decorated, spotless clean, a huge bathroom with a walk-in shower and a separate toilet.
The linen, sheets and towels were of super quality and felt very comfortable.
There are plenty of outlets to charge your devices and the bedside alarm clock allows for wireless charging of your smart phone.
The overall theme of the room and hotel is Thai inspired, but with a modern twist.
My room had a very comfortable lounging chair which dates back to the ‘70, but was refurbished and upholstered and now looks like new and blends in very nicely with the overall design, look and feel.
There are different restaurant and bistrots to choose from. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner in the hotel. The food was very tasteful, nicely presented and always served with a friendly and gentle smile.
The main restaurant called ‘Ruenton’ and serves Thai/Chinese dishes in a retro modern style.
On of their many signature dishes is the Chicken Rice.
Then there is the Phar- Ram IV Bistro where I enjoyed a very nice Negroni. Here the food focuses more on European style dishes.
The staff overall are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Nothings seems too much to ask and after a short period of time you really feel at home and at ease.
The hotel is a short walk (approx. 10 min.) from the nearest BTS and subway station away and therefore is a perfect hotel to explore the sights of Bangkok and other points of interest.
I can really recommend staying at this wonderful renovated and refurbished hotel.

+1
I spent a night at the hotel after coming back from abroad because Thailand Pass requirements without much expectations of the hotel. However, my stay turned out to be an awesome experience. I knew this hotel for ages and have eaten their famous chicken rice several times but never once stayed at the hotel before.
I stayed in Junior Suite room which the room is spacious! The bed was so comfy and larger than king size. Bathroom is separated from toilet (which I really really like it) have both showers and bathtub, good quality branded amenities are provided. I couldn’t have asked more for my stay.. it such a relaxing room that provides everything you needed.
Recommend this hotel for your stay in Bangkok for all purposes from business to leisure. Location wise, subway and sky train are within a walking distance, easy to go everywhere either business district, shopping mall, royal palaces or temples.

The Montien hotel is by far one of my favorite hotels in Bangkok. The friendliness and constant availability of staff to make sure your stay is unforgettable makes it stand out from the rest. During Covid lockdown I wanted to surprise my best friend for his birthday so it was easy to chose the Montien Hotel, confident it would indeed be wonderful.
In most cases, one is not familiar with the the general manager of a hotel of this caliber. However the Montien’s GM“Pierre” was “hands on” and made himself personally available make this birthday event incredibly special and personally organized the preparations for the festivities. Not only did he facilitate the most welcoming staycation overnight suite, an additional suite was converted into an exquisite private dining room .
Chef Herve prepared an exquisite 4 course vegan meal. Each course had only the best ingredients with fresh beetroot Gazpacho, ratatouille Provençal with caramelized tofu and fresh Italian basil, creamy butternut squash linguine, poached Provençal peaches with blueberry compote and raspberry pickles. Each course was accompanied by a delicious wine chosen specially by chef. The incredibly delicious treat at the end was the best cake I have ever eaten. The birthday cake was a vegan, chocolate tiramisu cake created especially for this occasion by Chef Herve. In fact it was so amazing that it has been chosen to be featured on the Montien’s dinner menu.
I strongly recommend the Montien as it it an experience of a lifetime.
Be sure to ask for Pierre and Chef Herve when you go!
