Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

While the hotels was okay, the rooms and hallways, could use a bit of a shine up.
The breakfast was rather expensive (700 Baht), the wifi was slow, and limited to two devices. The fitness room had ancient and almost useless equipment.

I return here every year without fail. Great rooms, great value for money, great service, and great location (if you want to experience the real buzz of Bangkok). A little faded about the edges, but still grande by any standards. Wonderful!

Arrived today as part of a 5 day golf weekend. This hotel has seen better days, maybe 20 years ago. Clean room however push button air conditioning, discolored yellowed phone and bar fridge, shower head that reaches my ear, and I'm 5'11. Disappointed regardless of any room rat

Hi, We used to stay at the Montien Hotel years ago, in its hey day, and were very happy with all aspects of the hotel.Have not stayed there for 10yrs. Just a couple of questions, has it been renovated yet and is the breakfast an international buffet which used to be excellent. We were never impressed with the Chinese restaurant they had there. Thank you.
Stay elsewhere. The breakfast buffet in my opinion has gone way downhill. For a comparable cost you could easily stay at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel.

Hi. Not a question but just saying Hi and agreei8ng with you - I was there on the same day and experienced the same problems; and after 30 yrs and what was a decent hotel once too. I'm just hoping it wasn't the same room? 8th floor South Wing? As part of an almighty row with the last of a series of so-called 'duty manager's, I got them to admit that the room had not been occupied for at least two weeks previously which was as far as their computer goes back. Hence, in my case, all signs of a moth-balled room - safe not switched on, fridge off and not stocked, muddy and cold water for at least 30 minutes, no towels and generally a musty smell indicating that the AC had only recently been turned back on. This was visit number 2 out of 4 pre-paid bookings and I was left shattered and fearful of what I had let myself in for. Something similar the 4th time too (and misquoting Meatloaf - 2 out of 4 is BAD!!). I hope someone in Montien reads this. After 4 visits in 3 weeks, I know why this happens and so do they. They should be ashamed of themselves but you know what? They just aren't... Simply changing rooms and no apology after all the hassle is NOT good enough if you want to keep customers who use TripAdvisor!!
I guess the only way to wake up the owners of Montien is that all Tripadvisors readers & participants boycott this chain. There are lots of just as convenient & affordable hotels in the area.... Lets all work together to eventually help them as well to wake up finally. There are hundreds of hotels to choose from in BKK!!!!

I read many good reviews but i am not sure yet. please inform me what clothes can i bring now this season and also if this hotel has wifi .Also please inform me if hotel give us advice about trips to the town of Bangkok.thanks in advance.
Hi Tony, I don't remember about the Wifi. When are you traveling? Until November, you will be in the monsoon season, so the weather will be hot, humid and a really good chance of rain. Under those conditions, I feel that an umbrella is imperative as any rain jacket gets unbearably hot. Also, I don't know what your sightseeing interests are, but if you are going to any Hindu religious sites, don't wear short, shorts and keep your shoulders covered. The Buddhist temples and shrines are not as rigid about dress codes, but you should still show respect. Also, wear shoes you can slip in and out of quickly if you are visiting religious sites as you should remove them before entering. For other tourist attractions like museums and the Grand Palace, just dress comfortably. Have a great trip!
