Great location but rooms are dated and hotel overall needs a makeover. The pool area is sooooooooo tiny with 4 lay beds for the entire 200+ rooms they have. Service is good as there were a number of things wrong with the room (broken a/c, no hair dryer etc) and they came to fix it right away. Breakfast is okay...

My wife and I stayed here fo one night before leaving Bangkok. it was ver friendly, and the rooms were good. There is a revolving restaurent on top of the building as well as a swimming pool. it is worth spending some time with a drink in the restaurant. we left our bags to pick up later when we left...

My husband and I booked a room here last minute on Christmas Eve as we decided to come into Bangkok from the countryside. We chose the GCP for its location alone. We wanted to tour Chinatown. We were given a 19th floor room with spectacular views of Bangkok that, quite frankly, made up for everything else. The staff was amazingly...

GCP was in the busied and hardest part of Bangkok to get to. So called family suite was a room with four beds crammed into it. Shower flooded bathroom each timed used. Room very tired and run down. Pool a joke. On a floor accessed through room of overhead pipes. Small and only one jet working in spa. Food expensive...

Unless you need to stay in Chinatown, the Grand China Princess is OK. Its about 1km walk to the Metro underground train, but only about 10 minute walk to the river ferry. Rooms are OK but nothing flash. Pool was hard to get to.

We stayed at the Grand China Princess for 7 days. Bus stop right outside hotel door that takes you to MBK, Siam Paragon, etc. Air-conditioned bus costs about 50 cents, old but clean, and gets you to shopping area in about 20 mins. October is a nice time to go, not too hot nor humid. Buffet breakfast included at hotel,...

The Grand China Princess is a very clean and friendly hotel. However, the concierge and others working at the hotel all have connections with different business's (ie, travel agents and tailors) so be wary because their prices are quite high and i would assume the hotel staff get commissions because of this. The internet in the lobby is also very...

Arrived after a lengthy stay at a resort in Phuket so this felt like a reality check. Arriving at the hotel, I had prepared a tip for the driver but dropped this on the ground without noticing. My partner, however, saw the concierge picking something up off the ground where I exited the car and then approaching me. The man...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
