Nestled along the river, Ibis Bangkok Riverside is a haven of tranquility with its serene atmosphere and picturesque views, as lauded by guests. While the hotel's location offers a scenic escape and proximity to attractions, a few visitors note it's somewhat secluded. The friendly and accommodating staff contribute to the positive experience, though some inconsistencies have been mentioned. Room opinions vary, with praise for their comfort, countered by critiques of their size and need for updating. Overall, the hotel's cleanliness and value for money are well-regarded, despite some guests pointing out amenity limitations.

This hotel came highly recommended to us by friends who regularly travel to Bangkok to see family...and I can see why.

Location

The hotel is located right alongside the river which makes it a perfect photo spot with the backdrop of the city in the background. It’s far enough away from the madness of Bangkok but close enough that you can reach any of the key sites with ease (10 minutes average by Tuk Tuk). As is right on the river you can also grab a water taxi/ tour to see all of the main sites in one day (exactly what we did with out 2 year old son). The sky train is also easily accessible (10 minute walk) which will help wizz you around the city but we opted for Tuk Tuks as they were cheaper and all part of the experience. And yes, our 2 year old loved them too! There are a number of excellent restaurants a 5 minute walk away also. Perfect.

The staff

The staff were Uber helpful and really couldn’t do enough for us. They especially paid attention to our little boy which naturally he loved (The little attention seeker). Orawan was fantastic although we never actually got to meet. Orawans level of communication before we had even checked in was excellent - thank you. Also, housekeeping were some of the most efficient i have ever come across during my many years travelling.

Food

Food was good given that there is so much wonderful food within this city. Prices were reasonable for a city centre hotel but in fairness we opted to eat out most of the time because...well because we were in Bangkok so would be mad not to indulge in the street food! Breakfast was very good and provided everything you’d need to start your day off right.

Hotel itself

Extremely clean and well kept with very modern decor. Excellent pool with enough sun beds if you wish to have a relaxing day/ afternoon after a day in the city. There is also a kids play area with slides etc which our son loved. There is also an area outside to get a very reasonably priced (and excellent) massage.

Rooms

We had a river facing room which was beautiful and worth it. We had 2 adults and my son in a crib and we still had lefty of space. Bathroom and room was very well kept. Just a shower and no bath as you’d come to expect from an ibis which was perfect for us. Shampoo and body wash is provided. Soft and hard Pillows also provided as is a hair drier. You’ll need to phone for and iron though.

Summary

I highly recommend this hotel and we will most definitely be staying here again. It’s reasonably priced and offers everything you’d need. If you’re in Bangkok then stay here!

We travelled as five adults, three rooms at the Ibis as part of a family holiday to Thailand. The rooms here are very simple but immaculately clean. Housekeeping do a fine job. It is not a deluxe experience staying here but it is a very nice hotel and the setting and location make it stand out. It is right on the riverside, surrounded by far more expensive hotels. The Peninsular hotel is just along the river and the rooms there are probably four times the price! The Ibis has a large riverside pool and gardens which are a great place to sunbathe and watch the river traffic go by. At night time when the gardens are all lit up it is a lovely spot for an early evening cocktail or two.
The breakfast is basic but good, plenty of choice, hot and cold choices. Fresh and well presented.
The Ibis is down a quiet side street a very short stroll to the main road where there are a host of restaurants and bars - The ‘Box of Fit’ - was very good - just minutes away. A little further along the Main Street is a ferry terminal which takes you in a local ferry boat across the river to a more mainline ferry pier where it is very easy to catch boats up and down the river. There is also a free ferry to Icon Siam shopping mall which is an experience not to be missed. A wonderful terrace there to get a high up view of the river and lots of places to grab a drink and a meal.
We loved scooting up and down the river on the local boats and we explored all the main sites this way, it was cheap and cheerful and far more pleasant than sitting in taxis.
For me the location near the river and it’s lovely outdoor space is what made the Ibis riverside a good place to be. It is also tremendous value for money. We couldn’t fault it for the price. A very good budget option. We are going back to Thailand and will definitely stay here again.

Stayed at 4* plus – 5 * hotels on the river that did not offer the river views in dining area or the care to protect their hotel guests from Covid-19 with safety precautions through out the Hotel. Beds extremely comfortable and additional room safety provided with a steel core internal door sandwiched between the wooden doors. Rooms are on the smaller size, but very clean and trade off with value of the overall cost of the Hotel that is hard to beat for the satisfaction provided. Food is all individually wrapped in clear plastic when served provides very safe food handling. Ran into Vicharnarong Orawan – Hotel Manager and could see that her care for the guests was foremost in actions and the Ibis Hotel staff care. Safe distancing is marked throughout the hotel with maximum of 4 people in elevator to ensure safety,

We are Accor.com members and booked well over a month in advance of our stay and so received a small discount for the three nights booked. However we decided we would like to stay an extra night and I asked at the reception desk would I be able to get a preferential rate being an Accor member, and was told I would have to pay the walk in rate which at that time was 3,000 Baht! The previous 3 nights only cost us 5,000 Baht! So we didn't bother!

it was totally different from the pictures that we saw online. twice the price of an average hotel and half the size. The room and bathrooms were soo small like a closet. We stayed at grand tower inn 2 days before checking inn to ibis and regretted changing the hotel to ibis the moment we got inside the room. The sheets in the room was extremely dirty. We kept our food in the fridge and when we came back the food was all bad bcz the fridge was not working. It was an expensive food (from jay fai restaurant) and it broke our heart to throw itaway. The pool was always filled with kids playing and shouting. The air conditioner was leaking water in the room. The lady at the front desk told us during check in that breakfast is available from 7-noon but when we went downstairs at 10:33 they said the breakfast is over and all they have is coffee and croissants. We asked for water front desk and had to pay 50bht for a small bottl of water. The bed had bugs and dirty sheets.no one was available at the reception late at night to help us with housekeeping.Very bad experience. For half the price you pay for this hotel you can get way fancier options.

I am doing a trip around Thailand, going back and forth to Bangkok so staying in different areas. I spent two nights on the riverfront to see this side. The IBIS is near a supermarket, shops and local restaurants. Nice location on the river. Big lobby area, pool and nice grounds. Rooms are spacious and big. Tea and coffee making facilities plus complimentary water, air conditioning, hot water, fridge and more. I didn't include breakfast. Staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean apart from carpets in the hallways which really need a hoover. As per most of Thailand, wifi is hit and miss. Miss mainly and quite slow at times. They have a room service menu which is silly as it stops at 22:00! With C-19, you need to put your card out if you want your room cleaned or they won't do it. My main issue is that public transport links are not great and I spent a lot on taxis. I want to be out and sightseeing and this was a lot easier downtown. I could walk all over or easily get public transport. There were also more coffee shops and restaurants downtown to go out at night. Here I was spending a fortune on taxis! Nice for 2 nights but not for me. If you want to relax and sit in the pool by the riverfront and be away from the noise then yes this is a good option.

Stayed at this small hotel in March when we had the start of the virus, we were all stranded trying to return to our countries, the Thai government enforced new rules and this hotel and ALL ITS STAFF stepped up to the line and more, clean well if you stood still for to long you would have been dusted, every time someone used the lift a staff member would wipe the buttons, if you went out on your return your temp was taken and logged on file no matter how many times you went out, meal tables were separated to give the 2 mt spacing, breakfast was cooked to order so no food was on trays being touched by many guests.
I recommend this hotel and on our next visit when the worlds settles down we will return there for a fortnights holiday.

Does a brand ranking in Hotel International Hotel Chains affect ratings on perception? Staying at 5* rand 4 * hotels in comparison I have found this is true in most cases.

In the Ibis Riverside I have found these 5* features that apply.
1) Location and dining view on at the river location one of the best on the River.
2) Grounds and Hotel kept at 5 * level.
3) Safety Covlid-19 on par with the best from elevator to pool, and food safety.
4) Steel core doors to rooms provide extra room safety
5) Luggage carried to room as a courtesy providing hotel occupancy
6) Hotel Staff provides a high level of service based on reduction of staff due to Covid-19 restrictions
7) Beds are very comfortable and compare or exceed 4 * and some 5* hotel standards.

Does it supply full service Hotel features, can not at current Hotel Rates and Covid-19 restrictions. Rooms are small but very clean with good river views.

Not been able to beat for current value.

I'm afraid I didn't stay in a family room. I had a double with a river view which I specifically requested. If you haven't stayed here before then I really would recommend a room with a river view as it really enhances the stay. You could email the hotel direct with your query. Hope that helps.
