This hotel used to be my standard budget stay while in Bangkok. The vibrancy of Chinatown just steps away down a horrifying alleyway filled with rats and garbage. As like so many independent hotels in Thailand, once they build it they never do any more maintenance, letting the place just slowly rot and fester away. The front desk was always... More

This place is just creepy. In a back lane off chinatown. If you want chinatown in Bangkok then this is still probably not the place. The rooms are old and feel very cockroach. We stayed here because of cost and trip advisor posts. Having booked two rooms we stayed just one night and left. we didn't ask for money back.... More

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! We arrived in Bangkok at 8pm and the lanes were dark and full of rats. We checked in with the lest helpful front desk man, we named dracular (blood shot eyes and orange contact lenses) the bell boy practically ran off with our bags - it seemed he was happy to get away from dracular too. The hotel is a fair distance away from the Hua Lamphong Train station and the MRT,but during the winter, the walk isn't too bad. It can also be accessed from either Yaowaraj Road or Charoenkrung Road (both of which are major roads with an abundance of convenience stores, food stalls/restaurants, and various other shops). We showed up early and the... More

Check Inn China Town is a budget hotel located down a quiet alley in Chinatown. The room was very clean and included a little kitchenette. Water pressure in the shower was good. If you are into Bangkok street food, this neighborhood is an excellent choice! So many affordable and delicious options nearby.

A little overpriced but great location in China Town. Good accommodating staff, eager to help. Went for the self-contained room with the kitchenette, which had a microwave, 2-burner stove, fridge, utensils, etc. Free tea/coffee/water daily and cleaned daily. About a 5-minute walk to restaurants and street hawkers' delicious Thai food. A 15-minute walk to Rachawongse ferry terminal. The ferry from... More

My experience was great. Except for first impression of the receptionist. We arrived in late night by local taxi (not great experience since the taxi driver tried to scam us). Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
