I've stayed in quite a few hotels and hostels over the past year of travel. Baan Dinso is my new favourite, beating out my previous favourite (a 5 star hotel in Kuala Lumpur). The level of comfort, style, character, food, service, "at home" feel, and location for me is unbeaten. And at the low hostel style prices they charge, I...

Stayed here for 5 nights. Great value for money. All the staff from check in to house keeping are all very curteous and welcoming. The place is a charming totally renovated Colonial style Thai house in a local neighbourhood. Everywhere you look it's all spotless! Breakfast is great with fresh salad provided as a nice touch. free internet room at...

This place was a brilliant find - located within walking distance of many major attractions but far enough away for peace and quiet. Everything is spotlessly clean and the staff are outstanding. In a crazy city this is a peaceful haven. I could not recommend this place more highly.

Me and a friend stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of a three week trip, backpacking round Thailand, and loved it so much we booked another 2 nights at the end!! We were met by someone from the hostel, who came out to our taxi and carried my backpack quite a way for me. We arrived in Thailand...

Tucked away in a quiet side street Baan Dinso offers high quality escapism at low prices. This Hostel is much more like an upgraded 'Boutique' British B&B. Much more personality and charm than a large hotel and a real haven after busy days visiting Bangkok. The rooms are nicely laid out, imaculately clean and the staff very helpful.

This place is a renovated wooden Thai style house located on a quiet side street near key cultural attractions. The atmosphere is more like a boutique bed and breakfast than a hostel with nicely decorated, immaculate rooms. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful. Traffic in the area is heavy and getting around is a bit tricky, unless you are...

We arrived at the railway station at 5am after a week in Laos. We had previouly arranged to leave our bags at the hotel until checkin time or when a room became available but when we arrived the man at the desk suggested that we use their showers and use the internet room to sleep or check emails which we...

This boutique hostel in the Old City (close by Khao San Road but without the noise and traffic) was one great introduction to Thailand for me. I came in after midnight, and Kong was there to greet me by name. My single room was without private bath, but this was not a problem at Baan Dinso because the common shower...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.

Munchkin8it, 2 Jun 2014 | Read review
“You can find plenty of choices of food on the street one minute away from the hostel. If you can, only pay the room price without the option of breakfast, as the breakfast served by the hostel is far too simple but expensive considering the price of 200 Thai Baht. With the 200 Thai Baht, one can easily get a big and delicious meal in the local restaurants nearby.”
