This is a tiny little hotel tucked away in an alley that is hard to spot the first time. We were a bit skeptical when we got off the taxi. But it's also like a nice adventure. My family travels a lot together. So we really like something that represent the local life. We don't want to be outside travelers....

This is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed as a family. The rooms were clean and comfortable but what made it really special were the staff who went out of their way to make us feel at home. Travelling with 3 children can be extra tiring for everyone. However our stay at Solo Singer was relaxing which made...

Because of work, I travel a lot in Asia so I generally like to see the real local life rather than tourists spots. What I like about this hotel is that even staying in the hotel itself is a local experience itself. People who work in the hotel have distinct characters and hobbies. Hiking, music...etc. Some of them are also...

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Solo Singer. The place is very beautiful, the rooms are perfect, very clean and bright. The staff was very kind and of great help. Also, we went hiking with Kim (a member of the staff) and it was one of our best days in Taipei. We'll definitely come back.

It's a wonderful place to come back to after a day of visiting the hot springs or walking around the beitou area which has lots to offer. This is a place with a soul, with hosts that love what they do and want you to love this temporary home. Solo Singer is sited in an old hotel, lovingly done up...

Solo Singer's a warm and funky little place in a historic property in a hidden back alley. It has an artistic B&B vibe and should appeal to people looking for a unique and personal experience. The surrounding neighborhood has a charming and local feel. The property is within walking distance of some neat hiking trails, and a short taxi ride...

This is a good spot if you don't want to stay in central Taipei. I like hot springs, trekking, night markets and observing real life, so this hotel is just perfect. The cafe serves some nice local beers (tea beer is superb). The staff is super helpful too.

Promoting the best of Taiwan heritage. local knowledge and advice, delicious local breakfast and great location off the main road but in the heart of Beitou near hot springs and accessible to Yangminshan national park. I stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful experience. Heather and her staff welcomed us in the Solo Singer cafe, a quirky cafe tucked in an alleyway in Beitou, Taipei. Our room, the writer's room, was tastefully decorated by a local writer. Breakfast in the Solo Singer cafe was among the best I've had at a B&B. We...

The staffs working for Solo Singer are very friendly. The atmosphere of the renovated old hotel is so comfortable. I recommend to visit the reading room on the third floor. The terrace connected with it is not that big but really good to feel the air of the local town. Beitou market and hot springs are close here. There're many...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
To lose one’s way is to begin a journey. To empty one’s mind is for containing more blessing. It is a renaissance project of a small old Taiwanese hotel. It is a hotel in the hot spring area without hot spring, but embedded in the history and traditional lifestyle of an old Taiwanese neighborhood. There won’t be any televisions to disturb your time when pausing to enjoy the quietness and inspiration away from the bustling life. Pick up a book if you want and find your favorite corner for reading. The speed of reading is what we believe to be the best speed for experiencing the traditional Taiwanese lifestyle. Solo Singer Inn is in a small hidden alley too narrow for cars to enter and is off Beitou Wenquan Road (Hot Springs Road) where a group of passionate travellers and artists started the renaissance project of a three-story inn over 60 years old. This new beginning introduces the spirit of Taiwan’s local alley culture to international travellers. Solo Singer Inn has preserved the characteristics of Taiwan’s traditional inns. All of the guest rooms are different in layout. The team has tried as far as possible to preserve their original characteristics; the sloping walls, the narrow staircases and corridors. Every inch is a precious memory of Taiwan’s old inns, standing witness to the rise and fall of Taiwan’s indigenous culture and half a century of Beitou’s history. ... more   less
