We stayed here for three nights, probably out of being lazy and using "Our Pick" from the Lonely Planet...more of that later. The hotel is situated near Chhetrepati which is on the southern edge of Thamel (a five minute walk) and and easy walk from Durbar square along Nara Devi road so location wise it's quite good. The reception area... More

I have had a great experience at the Hotel Ganesh Himal. The hotel staff (I should say family) is amazing; people are so polite and careful about the guests. The vegetarian food was excellent and the room was extra clean and comfortable. Before booking my room I requested some information regarding MTB tours and trips around Nepal, I used the... More

The people that run and work in the hotel are all very nice and friendly. Our room was cleaned everyday, and the towels changed, good beds and spotless linen. The garden is an oasis, lovely to have your breakfast and dinners away from the noisy streets. The food is very good prized, safe and nice. The doorman at the gate... More

I liked the straightforward approach of the guys who run this hotel: no bargain needed, free internet, reasonable pricing for food and drinks the rooms are a bit dated but i did notice that bedsheets were a bit dirty and somewhat noisy my recommendation: be picky on the room you are given; try one on the top floor facing the... We went to this hotel because of the review on Lonely Planet, but we realized that probably is not as good as when the review was made. When we arrived they made us wait like 30min while they were cleaning a room for us. The room size and the beds were not bad at all but the shower tap was... More

If you could pick this hotel up at the foundations and move it to a serene garden you would have yourself a fantastic little place. The guy waited for us at the airport for 2 hours and I genuinely was surprised to see him there waiting for us! Check in was great with welcome drinks for me and the kids.... More

Me and my partner stayed at this hotel as our first stay in Nepal. It was clean, nice staff and average rooms. The best part of the hotel was its beautiful garden. However, after being in Nepal for a while I would say that there are much nicer hotels (cheaper and closer to the action) that can be found. I... More

We stayed at Ganesh Himal one night only, before going on a trek. The hotel was ok and the personnel friendly. The location was fine. Back from the trek however we choose to stay at another hotel, similar standards, but slightly newer and with a quieter garden.

This is a very good place to stay, the hotel is very clean and very nice. The location is central but calm, you can reach Durbar Square in 15 minutes, restaurants and shops in Thamel are just around the corner. Everyone is very friendly and helpful; we organized flights and trips with the hotel staff, everything worked perfectly. I can... More

I stayed here for 4 nights in November 2010 and really enjoyed it. The room was very comfortable and there was a good heater for the chilly nights. They have a great garden area where you can sit, and also a rooftop deck with great views of the city and mountains. The staff were very helpful and the price is... More

“We accidentally went into one of the suites on our second stay; I'm not sure about the price increase for that room but it looked amazing! Our room still had air conditioning, but the windows opened out onto a fairly grim alleyway with lots of pigeons. I guess watch for the right hand side rooms if this bothers you!”
