We had read other reviews of Surendra's hospitality so decided we must check it out ourselves. Sure enough, the guesthouse was located in an ideal spot to explore Kathmandu. Surendra was a constant source of useful information and assited us in booking rafting trip, following which we returned to his guest house for yet another night before departing Kathmandu. He...

We made our booking via email. The location of the Dolphin is very good - in Thamel but on a side-street which affords a little more quiet. Surendra picked us up from the airport (getting a taxi yourself might well be cheaper but it’s probably worth the few extra dollars for his pick up). Our en-suite room was clean and...

It was absolute pleasure to stay at the Dolphin Guest House, the rooms are very clean and tidy but the greatest asset is the proprietor My Surander Joshi, who certainly devotes his time to making sure you get the most you can out of your stay not only in Kathmandu but also in other destinations in Nepal.

My friend and stayed in this guesthouse for 2 nights in the beginning of October, 2009. For me it was my first trip to Nepal and Kathmandu, so I didn't quite know what to expect. Booking and e-mail correspondence with the owner, Mr. Surendra Joshi was friendly and clear. We asked him to book us 2 tickets on the Greenline...

if we want somewhere with a friendliest, most genuine person in town then this is the place for you. Mr Joshi is very kind and explains everything to you for what to look out for in kathmandu. the rooms are basic but clean and you can book your own room with western toilet and shower if you want.

I can only agree with the previous reviewer who has given all the relevant details. We stayed at the Dolphin in April 2009 (US$20.00) and it was really like a home away from home. The rooms were small but really clean as was the bedding and towels. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was delightful and a great time to socialise...

My partner and I stayed at Dolphin Guest House for about 10 days over a period of several weeks in November and December 2008. We stayed at Dophin when we first arrived, when we returned to Kathmandu between treks in the Annapurna and Everest regions, and again before leaving Nepal. We were so happy that we chose to stay at...

Dolphin GH, Thamel, Kathmandu Back to this GH after several years in May 2007 and absolutely appreciated the owner's hospitality and honesty again! I was picked up at the airport and so didn't have to bother with all the touts. Surendra, the owner, organsed a ticket to Lukla for me and also got a better rate for foreign exachange. But...

“The staff will no doubt tell you that the rooms on one side of the hotel have bathrooms while those on the other side have a shared bathroom. We had the former during our first visit and the latter by choice when we returned after travelling elsewhere and were happy with both but there was no competition for the shared bathroom at the time. We understand the sharing was between two rooms only in any event.”
