I stayed here with my daughter before and after a trek in the Annapurnas. Surendra was most helpful in picking us up from the airport and arranging a trip to Chitwan and also obtaining a refund for my daughter's boyfriend who had to cancel the Chitwan leg. If you get a room at the back of the hotel remember to... More

I had seen the good reviews but was still pleasantly surprised by the friendly helpful proprietor and his family. Owner has impressive range of languages. Location is excellent. Very glad I stayed here and did not bother with planned last night upgrade to "Yak and Yeti"

Thank you Mr. Surendra Joshi and your family for an excellent service at your most comfortable guest house. Folks, this is a place in Kathmandu that you must try, unless you are looking for a 5 star expensive accommodation. Mr. Surendra Joshi, the owner manager, is the most pleasant person you can imagine. He has high standarts of work ethic,... More

This was my home from home during my stay in Nepal. The owner is a lovely and very helpul man. Staying here I felt very safe, secure and well looked after. The rooms are good and clean, there is reliable hot water, a back-up generator, fans. The location is good, convenient for everthing in Thamel but also quiet enough for... More

My daughter and I stayed at this guest house and was so pleased to find that we were close to everthing, but away from the madness each night when it was time to sleep. Situated down a lane way, the neighbours of the lodge are families and small business, not night clubs and disco's. Just a short walk down the... More

The hospitallity is great. Surenda is a big source of information and a great help with practical issues. We had a good and clean room on the third floor. Silent and cool. It's a perfect place to stay!

I have been travelling in the East for nearly 20 years and I have seen many guesthouses and met many hosts, but never a host like Surendra Joshi at the Dolphin Guest House. Instantly when you meet Surendra you feel the honesty and helpfulness that characterizes Surendrai. There was good chemistry right away. The day before I was leaving for... More

I decided to stay at this guest house because of the stellar reviews I read online. Let me tell you, each and every person who gave this place high ratings is accurate. This B&B is actually very centrally located. It's located inside a small alley, which is even better considering how noisy Thamel can be. It's also really close to... More

I stayed at Dolphin Guest House over a split period between trekking and returning back to the UK. It was used as a base for my various jaunts around the Valley. The location is superb, a short walk away from Thamel Chowk. An ideal place to drop stuff off after a day's wandering around Thamel, or to refresh and restock... More

I stayed at the Dolphin Guesthouse when I visited Nepal at the beginning of December 2009 with a friend. I had made my selection from what I had read on Trip Advisor, and I can only reiterate all the favourable reviews I had read. Surendra is an extremely kind, patient, and friendly man, who made our stay in Kathmandu so... More

“The staff will no doubt tell you that the rooms on one side of the hotel have bathrooms while those on the other side have a shared bathroom. We had the former during our first visit and the latter by choice when we returned after travelling elsewhere and were happy with both but there was no competition for the shared bathroom at the time. We understand the sharing was between two rooms only in any event.”
